Talk:Disguised
This is also used by the Minutely Mad King Tonic. I don't know how to edit the page on this side, though. Blue Totoro 22:38, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
- The effect infobox is really badly coded due to a bodge job I did on it ages ago, I've gone the lazy route and pasted the raw infobox code instead of fixing {consumable2} to work for disguises. Chieftain Alex 23:40, 31 October 2012 (UTC)
Replaces other tonic disguise effects[edit]
As also noted on the page of the update that introduced this effect, this now appears in the effects monitor in place of most, if not all, tonic disguise effects. Tested with Cottontail Tonics (appeared as a Brown Rabbit or White Rabbit), an Everlasting Automatonic, and a Zaishen Tonic (appeared as a Guild Lord); the result was the Disguised effect was applied instead of Brown Rabbit Form, White Rabbit Form, Golem Form, and Guild Lord Form. So should these tonic disguise pages be labeled with historical content, listed in historical content nav, have a note about it being replaced by Disguised, and having the infobox on the page of their corresponding tonic link to this page instead (e.g. the infobox of Everlasting Automatonic would list Disguised instead of Golem Form)? --Silver Edge 08:24, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yep, I think all the tonic effect skills have been replaced by Disguised. I don't think we should bother adding a note to the tonic item page since its a bit redundant if every tonic has the same trivia/history note. The only thing I'm hesitant about is adding the appearance notes from the skill-form pages to the tonic-item pages, there will be an awful number of images on the Mysterious/Zaishen tonic pages.
- Summary of things to add to each of the old tonic form page:
<!-- at the top of the page: --> Historical content <!-- in the item infobox: --> | categorize = n <!-- replace | skill = <!-- at the bottom of the page --> == Note == This skill was replaced by Disguised in the October 18, 2012 update. historical content nav}}
- And content to add to the tonic item page:
<!-- change the | skill = Form link in the item infobox to: --> | skill = Disguised <!-- and a gallery/list of appearances copied from the tonic skill page --> ???
- While I've prototyped an item infobox which just links all tonics to Disguised instead of the Form, I've come to realise that because we have only documented the appearances of the tonic on the tonic skill form page, we'll have to move all the images to the individual tonic pages... (thats a lot of work -_- ) and since we'd be editing the tonic page to include these new images/note of appearance, we might as well change | skill = ... Form to | skill = Disguised while performing that edit (ie. stick with current infobox since it doesn't save any effort). Chieftain Alex 17:13, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, those changes to the item infobox would be unnecessary if we have to edit every tonic page anyway. On another note, the October 18 update page states that "most tonics have been changed to" use Disguised, which I think might mean the tonics that have their own unique skill icons (Beetle Juice Tonic with Beetle Metamorphosis, Transmogrifier Tonic with Avatar of Sweetness, Yuletide Tonic with Avatar of Holiday Cheer, and their everlasting counterparts) might have not been changed to use Disguised and continue to apply the old skill icon and descriptions. If someone has one of those tonics, they could test to see whether Disguised is applied or not. --Silver Edge 05:31, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
- Falconeye has already added historical content and historical content nav to all the old tonic form pages, but he didn't add the note about Disguised to them. That same note you wrote was added by Konig Des Todes to a few pages (Destroyer Form, Kuunavang Form, Prince Rurik Form, Queen Salma Form, and Shiro Tagachi Form) in a Trivia section, which might be more appropriate than placing it in a Notes section. Effect infobox doesn't have a "skill" parameter and doesn't currently have a "categorize" parameter. As for adding the notes and images from the old tonic form pages to their respective tonic pages, for tonics that have an Everlasting and non-Everlasting version maybe we should only add the notes and images to the non-Everlasting pages (i.e. add the notes and images from Snowman Form to Frosty Tonic, but not Everlasting Frosty Tonic) similar to how we organize hard mode quest pages (e.g. Cleansing Bukdek Byway and Cleansing Bukdek Byway (Hard mode)); create a template similar to Pveversion and HMQuest and place it at the top of those tonic pages (e.g. Frosty Tonic and Everlasting Frosty Tonic), since those tonic pages aren't currently linked to each other even though they're the Everlasting/non-Everlasting tonic of each other. --Silver Edge 23:18, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Using the trivia section is fine, I support that change.
- We can implement a
categorize = nfor effect infoboxes with relative ease. - Adding images to one page is ok, but I wouldn't advocate the usage of a template similar to HMquest - I think that a small note along the lines of:
== Gallery == <gallery> pic of appearance </gallery> == Notes == *This tonic also has an everlasting version.
- and
== Notes == *For the appearance while under the effects of this tonic, see <Non everlasting page>.
- would be sufficient --Chieftain Alex 23:36, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
- Edit: I added a variable to the historical content banner which sets the effect infobox to not categorise stuff anymore. Less edits ftw? :) --Chieftain Alex 00:08, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Downside is we still need to go and add that Trivia section about Disguised to all the old tonic form pages :P. Another possible downside is that it affects Flux pages which also use Effect infobox (Category:Flux effects is unpopulated now); although, we probably shouldn't be categorising those historical Flux pages anyway. Also, why does making a page to not categorise cause a line of additional space between the infobox concise description and the content below it (e.g. Kuunavang Form)? This also occurs on historical skill pages that use categorize = n in the skill infobox. Concerning the trivia note ("This skill was replaced by Disguised in the October 18, 2012 update."), should "skill" not be used, since the tonic forms aren't skills? Replace it with "disguise", "effect" or just have it be "This was replaced by [...]"? --Silver Edge 05:58, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- Its probably where someone has taken a newline for a set of category if statements.. like I did for the effect box a minute ago ><
- "This was replaced by [...]" sounds great.
- Previous flux effects have now repopulated the flux category - imo they should be categorised since theres no point having a category for one flux :P
- To do list:
- Add the gallery to the tonic page & set the |skill= Disguised
- Add the everlasting/non-el note to the tonic page
- Add the "this was replaced by .." note to the form page --Chieftain Alex 09:27, 28 November 2012 (UTC)
- I've edited Beetle Juice Tonic, Everlasting Beetle Juice Tonic, and Beetle Metamorphosis. Instead of naming the section "Gallery", I named it "Appearance", since it also has the notes about the disguise's appearance. It seems some of the in-game descriptions on the tonic pages (e.g. Everlasting Beetle Juice Tonic) are missing quotation, link to the old form page (which would need to be changed), and have been transcribed incorrectly (when comparing it to other tonic pages). Also, is it necessary to have that same note on all the everlasting tonic pages about how the tonic does not give Party Animal points when the tonic page already states this? --Silver Edge 06:43, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

- I think it would be fine to remove any note about EL tonics rewarding zero party pts - its not listed in the infobox as giving a point anyway. (good work) --Chieftain Alex 08:55, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- We should wait a couple of days to see if there are any other suggestions or objections to these changes before applying them to all the other tonic and form pages. After that, anyone can feel free to apply these changes. I'll try to do some when I have the time. I'm assuming no one has the time to do this all in one sitting, so it is best to follow the order of the tonics listed in the Tonic page and work our way down through those tonic pages and their associated form pages; that way others can keep track and know where to continue from. --Silver Edge 22:15, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Hah. I blatantly copy/pasted most of the beetle juice tonic to the effect that I forgot to remove the doesn't reward pts note. -_- --Chieftain Alex 23:59, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- As I suspected earlier in this section, Yuletide Tonic still causes Avatar of Holiday Cheer. --Silver Edge 10:09, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- When using Mysterious Tonics, some forms applied Disguised, while the Sinister Golem and Yeti forms applied Sinister Golem Form and Yeti Form, respectively. I've added this to the article's Notes section. --Silver Edge 07:36, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
- Oversized Tonic Warning still applies Snowman Form instead of Disguised; however, Frosty Tonic now applies Disguised. --Silver Edge 08:34, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
