"Using a skill with the property "recharges instantly", eg:Unnatural Signet, will end diversion and WILL NOT disable the skill." does any1 think this is a bug??? or has it been changed? i haven't been able to test it out recently, but Im very sure that I've dispelled Diversion by using an instant recharge skill before.

Why would that be a bug? This adds recharge. If a skill bypasses recharge, it's going to bypass Diversion, because that's all it does... RitualDoll 21:10, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
U gotta love this skill but at 3s casting it's worthless. Ninjas In The Sky 14:13, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
You've never played pvp have you? -FireFox User FireFox av.png 14:30, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Not to mention mesmers have something called Fast Casting... --Link4all 20:19, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
I can assure you, I have played PvP and PvE. At 15 FC, you still have 1, 5 secs casting. Ninjas In The Sky 19:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
And I cna assure you that you haven't played any good PvP at all. Your trading a 1.5 sec casting to completely disable an enemy skill for over a minute. How can you say that's not good? A good Mesmer will be able to time Diversion to catch a Word of Healing, or an Infuse Health for example. Hell, you could even Diversion an Eviscerate! Imagine, you just stopped the enemy's team Deep Wound for 1 minute. That's 1 minute without any kind of spikes, if the spike relies on Deep Wound.--Nemeon Lion 21:55, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

One distracting shot and completely disable this skill and even with your fast casting you are still going to have over a second in casting time.William Wallace 22:04, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

FYI its prolly one of the best skills you could bring with you into PvP; Either they will see it in time and stop using skills for the next 6 seconds (yay), or they will blindly disable a skill for 1 minute. And with a skill recharge of only 12 seconds... oh yeah, and its not even ELITE! xD --Frigid Mage 14:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

But there is a counter to it... read the notes... I use a sig, and im good Tearh 02:52, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
FWIW, Glyph of renewal + Diversion can catch people off guard and annoy them immensely. Try recasting it so that the hex will be re-applied just a short while after it expires. Keep slapping diversion on the healer and people will start dropping dead :).

How does this skill react with Remove Hex? (or any hex removal skill) AFAIK casting anything to remove Diversion will work in Diversion's favour, triggering the extra recharge time. Can anyone verify this? Perhaps it should be noted :)

In old times, when I played a prot-boon monk I've frequently run into this. Used remove hex, but it hasn't removed diversion, only the hex it had covered until then. And remove hex was affected by diversion. SamoK 13:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, sounds like an anomaly if you're correct Samok. Can anyone test/verify this?
Ok, I'll check again, but I belive it isn't an anomaly. If you cast remove hex on yourself while affected by backfire you get damaged and then the hex is removed. It's the same with diversion: the hex is already active and the condition will trigger prior the removal efect. SamoK 18:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't have any scepticisms anymore. While writing that bullcrap above I just got angry at the ranger interrupts targeting my diversion. Ninjas In The Sky 13:32, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

diversion, provided some angry ranger doesnt screw you over, is the best mezmer hex ever....beter then msot of their elite hexes imo

waste[edit]

why waste ur time disabling, when you could be killin? Droks 19:07, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

PvX doesn't bring enough laughs anymore? Lord of all tyria 19:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
So. Awsome. I agree, if a skill can't do over 100 damage, it's crap xD.--The Gates Assassin 20:16, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Nice try Igor. Its one of the best skills in the game dont you have anything better to do than sign up with my name on other sites and vandal pages and try make me look bad --Droks` 10:35, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
It wasn't Igor ! 213.233.88.154 15:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

need to be successful?[edit]

does any1 know if the skill used has to be successful to trigger diversion, such as if you interrupt it does it still disable (unlikely), or if for example they cast a spell on a foe with spell breaker so the spell fails, does it still get disabled or not? Crimmastermind 07:52, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

The skill has to complete its activation in order to trigger Diversion's disable effect. Interrupted and failed skills do not.Boogy 15:51, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Needs nerf[edit]

This skill is one of the major skills in the game that needs a nerf. A skill that disables the next skill used for almost a whole minute, spammable, and not even an elite, and 5 energy cost. BS IMO

It costs 10, is easily interruptible, not really spammable and still can be avoided or caught by junk skills. It has its uses but does not win on itself. Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 02:08, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Nerfing diversion is the same as nerfing RoF. Diversion is to mesmer as Frenzy is to warrior, or Dis shot is to ranger... It is a staple, and it is balanced. Nerf it izzy and i will quit GW 71.243.29.142 23:14, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Now that they did NERF Diversion, it seems on the contrary, they went too far in doing so. I want to initially make it clear that diversion never needed to be nerfed, was never overly spammed unless a whole PVP team had it equipped (which sounds like intellectual planning and preparation, kudos to them!), and was never ever used like an elite skill. This sounds like the complaint of a PVP sore loser who wants precious video game programmers to make the game easier for him, and the fact that the GW admin department allowed it sounds more like pandering to clearly inexperienced players who have trouble dealing with a long and credible endearing Mesmer spell that has been in affect for as long as I remember. Here's the facts: (1st)If one player only had diversion, it was only slightly spammed but carried a long recharge time to give balance, and battles shouldn't last long enough against a mesmer if you and your team carries a crazy thing called talent. (2nd)If and when a player did use diversion, it was only used in the sense arcane thievery and larceny carrying a disabling skill, but since this one only focused against recharged time, it carries a right to actually remain against a players stats. And (3rd) (...and I'll end this here): if you or anyone else couldn't withstand the likes of the original version of diversion (the one that remained), it was your job (along with your team since they are your support) to equip hex removal abilities. If you don't want to play the game because you don't want to take the responsibility and ownership of accommodating spells you whine against, that's your prerogative, but don't go around whining to admins (who look too closely to pandering to their new business consumers) about something that ruins the game for the majority of those who know how to use the spell and those who know how to take responsibility against the spell. Certainly not when the weight of GW history along with the idea that the more experienced players (since its the more experience players who know how to accommodate it) also deserve a say in the matter. Sorry Mister-diversion-hater! Your argument doesn't sound solid enough..and I'm not the only one who feels that way as we can see aforementioned.
What the hell are you talking about? Diversion didn't get nerfed. -Auron 08:53, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
It only that lasts six seconds, it use to stay there.
................................................................ -Auron 08:56, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
maybe he's thinking of the april fools thing =P. dude diversion so should stay on forever. hahaha. ok ok im kidding. 03:16, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't work on interesting stuff :)[edit]

Sadly it doesn't work on a lot of "interesting" enemies in PvE. And I don't think it works on the siege turtle attack in Aspenwood. Is there a note on this anywhere?

It's mainly a pvp skill. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 00:50, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
