Talk:Easter Egg Hunt
I thought we were supposed to add stuff like this...thats the impression I got. Not sure what else I can do to make it more encyclopedic. And I'm not sure how a non-player is supposed to add a page like this. But do what you must. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:De Gaia .
- i think its being deleted because its not official event. if every guild put his/her event in a page pf their own we would have thousands of these pages, plus i don't see this being use full to anyone. But feel free to copy it into your namespace ~ Kurd17:15, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- Well I just saw a section on the special event page for player-based events...plus I was just at some event in Serenity Temple that Gaile attended and Gaile herself said to add pages like this. I just wanted to help, but whatever...I'll delete it.
- Ok take it easy, discuss it here and we will look into it, dont start deleting stuff :S ~ Kurd17:24, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- Well, in my opinion, when I first saw this page, I thought.. "WHHHAT? WHY DIDN'T I HEAR ABOUT THIS!??? OMG WHAT DID I MISS? I DONT REMEMBER ANY GUILD WARS ANNOUNCEMENTS ABOUT THIS!!" Then I found out it was a guild thing and thought, "ohhh, okay...." So, I think it's better off branching off of the guild page instead.--Zemmy 17:32, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- Bettter this way :) ~ Kurd17:43, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
- Personally, I would rather see this type of content on the page for the guild that organised it instead of its own article. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 18:11, 5 May 2007 (EDT)

- I know. :) I hadn't looked in the page's history yet to check which guild it was. But Guild:The Boat Crew doesn't have a page yet on this Wiki. Therefor, I'm a little bit reluctant to move it already to Guild:The Boat Crew/Easter Egg Hunt. Perhaps the original poster User:De Gaia(?) should first create such a page, and then we move? I'll add a move-template to it though. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 07:21, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

- I think it would be more sensible if we had a page called player organized events with all organized events on it. The page could consist of two parts, one part for listings of all Miscellaneous organized events, then another list for Guild organized events. some of you may not agree but just an option.--File:User Wacked 1 Link Sprite.gif Wacked 1 07:40, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

- If it were branching off the guild page, would info on the Mursaat Rally have to go on Guild:Blade and Rose/Mursaat Rally, even though that particular guild is not notable enough to have its own page? --Santax 14:30, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Whoa people! I really didn't want this to be an arguement. My initial intention was not to advertise or whatever the heck you think I was doing. I just saw an area that looked like an invitation to add community organized events, I was obviously wrong. Now please delete this page so we can leave this ridiculous arguement behind. De Gaia 16:51, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
- Again De Gaia, relax! Since this is the first time anyone suggested/created such a page, the wiki-community (or the people who currently are responding on this page) are now trying to give these kind of pages a place. It should not be seen as an argument, rather more as a discussion of how to handle these pages. Currently it seems best (to me at least), to place these kind of pages into a subpage of the organizing guild. Eventually, a policy will be introduced to deal with user-events. So instead of reacting all piqued, try to be constructive. -- (CoRrRan / talk) 03:07, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- Difficult issue :( Becomes a case of notability, in a way. The Mursaat Rally was not an officially organized event, but those playful scamps at ANet joined in the fun with the Mursaat massacre. It should be recorded for posperity. The Easter Egg hunt... Established, well-known guild, former GotW, a "notable" guild, if you will... The event itself? I never heard of it before - admittedly I don't use the "usual suspect" forums, and I'm not claiming that just because I haven't heard of it it isn't notable - and none of my guildies or other loosely associated player contacts mentioned it. To avoid lengthy talk pages attempting to decide notability or not, let's opt for keeping all unofficial events in which ANet did not intervene or otherwise recognize by altering the game, permanently or temporarily, in guildspace. The event is still recorded, catalogued, everyone's a winner :) Fox (talk|contribs) 06:15, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
I support moving this article to the guild subpage noted. I further support making this into a policy discussion, as there is a legitimate place for player events on the wiki -- we just need to work out what that is. —Tanaric 10:34, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- I support the idea of these events being posted with the Guild namespace. Since thousands of players were aware of it, and hundreds participated, its certainly merits recognition. I would also support the idea that if Anet takes a direct interest, that it be posted in the main pages. I also suggest that part of the policy be a Category:Guild Hosted Events so that users wouldn't necessarily have to hunt hundreds of guild pages to look for articles of this nature. -- Rohar (talk|contribs) 10:52, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- I'm not opposed to a category, but perhaps a bit broader, since I believe the Mursaat rally was instigated by an individual, not necessarily a guild, right? Category:Guild and user hosted events? (Hmm, after seeing the preview, the link does look a bit ugly-ish.) -- (CoRrRan / talk) 11:13, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- Category:Community hosted events? - anja (talk) 11:17, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
- I prefer Category:Community hosted events since is more concise. Apparently, any potential policy would have to allow posting on Guildspace and Userspace, unless we find a single spot for them. I wish I had time to draft a policy, but I suggest that "substantial participation by unaffiliated community members" be a requirement for posting this type of material. That would eliminate the "my guild did 1337 3 man trapper solo uw run zomg the ectos!" pages. -- Rohar (talk|contribs) 11:42, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

- Whatever policy you generate, please focus on providing reasons why content should be allowed, not reasons why content should be disallowed. It's very easy to overfear in these situations. Policies can be amended later if there's a clear case of us being too lenient with information retention. —Tanaric 19:12, 7 May 2007 (EDT)
Move to mainspace?[edit]
Well, the Ascalon Royal Family Masquerade Ball got their own namespace article, and if Gaile showed up then it's going to be notable enough to be classified as a mini-event. If nobody objects, I'll move this then? --Santax (talk · contribs) 08:51, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
