Article[edit]

i can help with the page by I don't want to do it myself as I will probably mess it up.

At the settlement, everyone's build changes to: Flare, Holy Spear, Spirit Rift, Echo (Mesmer Elite Skill), Throw Dirt, Healing Signet, Dash and Resurrection signet. Attributes are also changed, as it health (set to 600), energy (set to 50), although I'm not certain about armour. There are about 5 undead bosses before a candy corn tyrant comes-killing him ends the quest. --Burning Freebies 09:11, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Not holy spear, spear of light. Its best to use Echo and holy spear so you have plenty of holy damage to kill minions quickly. --Burning Freebies 09:17, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
Me again, also all minions experience minion apocalypse on dieing, respawning a minion. --Burning Freebies 09:31, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
To clarify, the minions that pop up out of the ground of their own accord (i.e. not involved with Zombie Warlocks) cause Minion Apocalypse when dieing - the Warlocks' minions don't have this effect, but will likely be enchanted with Death nova anyway. Chieftain Alex 16:18, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
It seems when a Bloated Zombie dies, five level 20 Bone Horrors spawn. Which could mean that a Bloated Zombie spawns four Bone Horrors when it dies plus the one Bone Horror from Minion Apocalypse (for a total of five). --Silver Edge 19:27, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
I would rather Echo Spirit Rift to mass damage the mobs. And it recharge faster than Spear of Light too 175.156.118.65

Interesting glitch[edit]

If you approach the area while under the effects of the EOTN animal aspects, when the aspect ends you will retain your original skills not the skills set by the quest. Potentially allowing you to complete the quest the first time with any skillset you want. All changes to health, energy and attributes still work normally.

Tips[edit]

It's a longish (and easy) run, but you can leave from the Temple of the Ages. Advantages are a party of 8 and two additional pets (with heroes), plus the chance for drops to trade in for holiday items. Some notes for the walkthru: In order, the Mez boss will come from the east; the Ele boss from the west; the Ranger, Monk and Nec bosses from the east, the Warrior boss from the west, and the final boss from the east. You can usually follow the pop-ups back n' forth to each spawn. Having done this four times now, one glitch occured when one of the groups got hung-up on the terrain. I had to find/attack it outside of the city to get the other enemies to spawn. Lord Flynt 20:45, 27 October 2012 (PDT)

Trivia / Resident Evil references[edit]

I didn't add these to the article itself cause I'm not well-versed in the formatting and don't wanna mess the page up, but here are the RE references in more detail:

  • The characters Sergeant Weststar, Chance Redding and Jenn Valefield are of course referencing RE series stalwarts Albert Wesker, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
  • Chance's line "You mean stabbing isn't fast enough? Uhh...maybe we should try punching? It worked on a stone elemental I tried it on once!" refers to his hilarious boulder punching antics that were a QTE in the final boss battle of RE5.
  • Weststar's line "Then it's just a matter of time before complete global saturation!" refers to his much parodied "Complete. Global. Saturation" line in RE5. (Marvel vs Capcom 3 had him using that line in a win quote as well.)
  • And of course, Jenn's line "Whew, I thought we were gonna be Ebon Sandwiches there." refers to arguably the most memorable of the RE series' terribad lines, when Barry saved Jill from a dropping ceiling in the original game and said "Phew, I thought you were gonna be a Jill sandwich there." 220.255.1.42 03:34, 28 October 2012 (PDT)

Vanquishing[edit]

It is not very wise to vanquish this area with this quest active. It is easy to trigger the altered bars and then it's even easier to trigger the quest spawns; I had to clear all the mobs of the quest to complete the vanquish (even the bone horrors popping out of the ground) resulating in almost 350 foes to kill for me. But hey, at least now I now the HM levels of every enemy.. :( SuperRobertWa 09:04, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

<sarcasm> However, you get a decent warrior tank (weststar); a fast-respawning moron whom would be an awesome minion; and a MAGNIFICENT healer with Heal Area at 0 healing prayers. Really worth taking, IMHO.. </sarcasm> SuperRobertWa 09:12, 29 October 2012 (PDT)

RE vs GW[edit]

I don't suppose we should read too much into the nature of this quest, which references classic RE games that were actually good in the face of recent sequels that play nothing like them... and the fact that this Halloween marks the first holiday of GW2... ;) 76.253.0.17 05:01, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Possible glitch[edit]

When I was doing this quest with a friend of mine, we were roleplaying King Thorn and his servant, and I was using the King Thorn birthday tonic, and I walked to where you get Mad King's Influence, and it changed my skills, only for a couple seconds. Then, I regained my original skills, while still under the affects of Mad King's Influence. I really hope this is just a little Easter egg by Areanet. Being Mad King under your own influence! Course you'd get you original skills! --ShananylDracon (talk) 01:23, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Not really an Easter egg. As noted above and at Mad King's Influence, if a Norn form is active when Mad King's Influence is applied, then the Mad King's Influence skill bar will change back to your original skill bar. Except in this case, it seems to also occur while under a tonic disguise (probably any tonic and not just Everlasting Slightly Mad King Tonic). --Silver Edge 02:10, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
It seems it may be an Easter egg. Tested with Minutely Mad King Tonic and I didn't get the same result (as I noted in the anomaly note at Mad King's Influence#Notes). Were you using a Norn form when this happened? Can you post a screenshot of this (i.e. your Skills and Attributes Panel)? Just have a character with a running build and Evil Residents or Evil Residents Code: Harmonica active and run to acquire Mad King's Influence at the Ascalon Settlement after using the Everlasting Slightly Mad King Tonic. --Silver Edge 03:24, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I tried it again with the tonic and it didn't work, I think I had JUST gotten off the Norn form and it registered that I was still on it so it reverted back. Thanks guys! --ShananylDracon (talk) 01:34, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Don't need any survivors?[edit]

Did this in hardmode and all the townspeople died and quest said failed. I killed the mobs anyhow and when I returned to town it let me turn it in for the rewards. Justice (talk) 03:34, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
