Talk:Formal Attire
Lovely costumes, as always, but a shame that the male version is identical to the Dapper Tuxedo. They could have made this wonderfully flamboyant and colourful to match the female version! (Peacock is the word that comes to mind.) --Wormwood 14:13, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
I agree with wormwood. I was hoping they would add a third festive male costume. -Hywell 19:55, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's bad manners to only include 2 male costumes. These are already at premium price compared to older costumes (wedding attire at 10 instead of 6) so including one less costume ... i do not agree. Still buying though81.240.103.28 16:42, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- So, is the hat supposed to make it so you can dye your hair? I went to dye the tux, and then to see how it looked on the hat, tried it on the hat, and all of a sudden my hair turned bright blue!!!! Haha, I think that's cool anyway, so they shouldn't change it, but perhaps it should be documented? (I'd get a picture, but I have no clue how to use the wiki...) 128.113.201.222 22:09, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't see any difference when I tried dye on hat in preview window. Ramei Arashi
- Yes, the hat is always gray, just the hair is dyeable --Goniek Talk 11:51, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Fem. elementalist differences[edit]
A picture of female elementalist in the dress showing that comparing to other female classes, this one miss the bracelet on the right wrist and, well, there's a hole on her back near the strap: http://i56.tinypic.com/16ib6z4.jpg --Goniek Talk 13:45, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
- There is also a difference on the Raiment of the Lich when worn by a female Ele. Usually the wings look like they were in a fight on the other professions I have seen. But the Ele profession in that costume, the wings look actually decent, no stray feathers, etc. Not sure if the male Ele has the same or not. Possibly worth further research. Any class specific differences in the costume(s) should be documented on the respective costume pages, I think. 69.182.180.123 21:01, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, feathers problem was noted and fixed, everything is at the Talk:Raiment of the Lich. --Goniek Talk 08:25, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Feeling cheated with the male costumes.[edit]
I feel fair duped by the lack of costume variety for males. The female characters have a choice of three complete attires, three costumes and three Head pieces. Whereas, the males bearly have two, two costumes (with very subtle differences) and two hats (only difference is that one is taller than the other). I think that the male Formal Attire should absolutly be changed. I would suggest to something like Dunham's costume (or something like a mesmer suit of armor).

- Keep in mind that guys don't really have that much variety in formal clothing even in reality. It isn't all surprising that there's not much variety in costumes either.
- That said: Male necro+purple formal suit+green formal tophat (i.e., top hat with green hair - or if your necro has the right style and color, no need for the top hat). Try it out. -- Konig/talk 12:22, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
- I see what you did there... Pity I don't have male characters :) --Goniek Talk 17:13, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
- Titan Crow has a point. Saying they can't have anything but this costume because men have a more restricted choice in reality really isn't a valid argument here. There are a lot of mesmer armors formal enough to suit to all of these female Heart of the North costumes. You could have easily used different boots or a different shirt, let yourself inspire by historical garments or the existing mesmer armor, add a bow tie...they really could have come up with better ideas instead of just reusing visually the same model three times and relying entirely on the female dress. —ZerphaThe Improver 13:49, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- If anyone from NCsoft is reading this, Give us fellas another costume! This is really frustrating, and also a rip off. If all of the wedding costumes were bought seperately, then if all of your characters are males (which all mine are) thats £20.97 for three costumes that are near exactly the same. Thats really not fair. Please do something about this! Titan Crow 14:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
