- Wow, they dont normally announce events the Monday before the weekend event, but I guess that this is a bit more of a weekend event. FirstSunspear 19:21, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
What the heck[edit]
The cities where the event is happening are only Prophecies and Nightfall cites. I only have Factions. Does that mean I don’t get to participate at all or receive any prizes?Master Of Ether 01:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it's because Factions just had the Canthan New Year, which was available only to owners of Factions. It could be for another reason, though, you'd have to wait for an official word. Kokuou 22:29, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- You should be able to participate in the Costume Brawl as it has an NPC in the Great Temple of Balthazar and likely will take place on the Battle Isles. — Cameronl (talk) 22:39, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- I feel that Factions players should still be able to attend the event, or at least have Kaineng City or Shing Jea Monastery decorated! It's bad leaving out a third of players. kaheiyeh 01:15, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- The people of Cantha do not celebrate Halloween, as the people of Kamadan do not celebrate Canthan New Year etc, it is a roleplaying thing (and a ploy to get you to buy all the expansions ;) ). I think claiming a third of all players only have factions is very speculative also. --Lemming 01:17, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- It does suck and before Canthan New Year was added Cantha was known as the Land Arena-Net Hates. They also don't get Wintersday (Christmas). To balance this, this year Cantha had two of its own festivals, Canthan New Year, and it's previous lone festival, the Dragon Festival. There are only 4 real festivals in the game, 2 of them occur in Lion's Arch and Kamadam (Winsterday and Halloween) and two of them are celebrated in Cantha (Canthan New Year and Dragon Festival). I am under the impression that pulling off a festival with quests, mini games, hats and decorations is a pretty big job and 4 of them is a lot of work. To give each campaign 2 festivals each, like the trend seemed for Factions and Prophecy, is a lot of work, so they merged Halloween into Kamadam instead of creating two unique festivals there. Dancing Gnome 04:01, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. That answered my question (I'm relatively new to Guild Wars).Master Of Ether 11:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- You could always get a trial key code for both areas and just do the transfer quests. They take to the right areas--Smithyben 14:06, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Any idea where I could get a trial key ( I lost mine). Anybody want to give me thier trial code?Master Of Ether 00:53, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- You could try to message me on one of my characters- I probably have one kicking around somewhere. I just don't know how much I'll be on, and I'm often afk due to family responsibilities.... - Lord Ehzed 01:46, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Old Ascalon decorated anc "NPC'ed"[edit]
Halloween will be also in Old Ascalon? --Grethort 13:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

So much fun[edit]
Cant wait to see the people spamming "WHERE HAT?" :D Still...the quests from last year were alright, they will probably be the same this year :( Go On Touch It

Rings of Fortune ?[edit]
I can't remember if there were the Rings of Fortune game last Halloween ? Or was it on Winterday in Kamadan ? Demeryk 15:58, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Rest of the Collectors?[edit]
Will the rest of the collectors be coming around at a later stage during the event or is this it? It seems like a small selection compared to the years before. kaheiyeh 05:28, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- They may, or they may not. We'll see. Drago 05:48, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Where is the "Feather Scalp Collector" in Lions Arch was there last year, will be very disappointed if he's not this year. And shouldn't he if anyone, trade Tonics?
- I don't think the Henge of Denravi, Champion's Dawn, Kodlonu Hamlet or Sunspear Great Hall collectors ever appeared this time around. They weren't there tonight. -- Gordon Ecker 10:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Teller of Tales?[edit]
I must have missed something the last two years. I've never heard of/seen this so called returner. --68.106.220.91 02:34, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Me neither. Nor is there any info of him on this wiki or the unofficial one. BlazeRick 15:23, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

- Never heard or seen him last year. Returning favorite, hm? -- Karuro 16:51, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Me neither... He "returns", but the question is since when and where? and favorite by who? :P Anyway, it's the 30th already and no sign for him...
- Possible this is the same story teller from the Wintersday festival just telling different stories...

Note on dyes?[edit]
I don't think the note about dyes is appropriate. Dye drop rates have always been consistent, with the exception of specific weekend events which increase the drop rate of all colours equally. It seems unlikely that ANet have secretly increased the drop rates for "Halloween colours", and more plausible that some players are reading too much into coincidences (as usual ^_~). --Mme. Donelle 04:24, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I agree, speculation belongs on the talk page, it would need to be proved before it should be in the article. I have removed that comment for now. --Lemming 13:05, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I imagine that people are doing more solo farming of low level enemies in order to get bags. Low level stuff dies more quickly, so you kill more over a length of time, making it more likely you'll come across a dye drop at some point. I think the same goes for the supposedly higher rate in pre-searing. --NieA7 15:40, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I agree. While I have seen no change in drop rates based on specific colors this week they have, in the past, increased the drop rates based on the holiday. For example, red and green dropped consistantely last Wintersday, as intended. If there's a testable theory on dye drops, let them test it, but don't right it off as "never been done" - it has...--Mystisteel 00:26, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Updated page regarding candy corn elementals --------- akane kiryu
it doesn't say anything...[edit]
About there being a hat, crown, mask etc... I have heard, do not quote me plz, that it might not be any of those things. Not even a mini pet, but something greater. But meh, stories are stories. We will have to wait and see. -- File:Blackgeneralstar.png (General | Talk) 00:20, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
New Festival Idea[edit]
It would be nice if there was an NPC added to Festival towns which told people all about the Festival. Like when you zone into the town it tells you to talk to NPC "x" who will tell people about collectors, trick or treat bags dropping, when the Mad King visits and where and when to get the Pumpkin head. This is just to minimise local chat spam of "where do I get my hat from?". I'm still all for an in game clock :P.Dancing Gnome 07:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Or people should simply check out www.guildwars.com :| BlazeRick 11:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Its a good idea, you always have people in the chat asking when the king is coming.
- This isn't about adding a new service, it's about making the current one more accessible to the general player base. You ignore the point that people DON'T check out www.guildwars.com and people DO ask repeatedly over and over and over these same basic questions. This is simply a way for people to access it in game, a lot of people don't check the website of the wiki on the updates page, I know I didn't for the first year I played. Saying "Or people should simply check out www.guildwars.com " is simply unhelpful and ignores the reality of the situation. Dancing Gnome 18:10, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- The real problem imo is laziness. BlazeRick 18:59, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Great idea! This is really serious problem with the amount of lazy players who don't bother to ever check either Guildwars.com or the Wiki. I've had tons of people ask me in towns and they just say, "no not bothered, tell me plz". Really, if people aren't even bothered to check themselves I won't be bothered either to help them. kaheiyeh 21:51, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

- You should never force people to use www.guildwars.com or the wiki. It doesn't hurt to also advertise more ingame with an added NPC to lions arch for an extra hand of releasing information to the players. Maybe the horse running around lions arch can explain more of the next time/date the king comes maybe?
Don't get me started on the amount of people asking can they have/where did I get my '05 pumpkin :p — Skuld 23:02, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's just, every rational thinking person should know that google is your friend and that you can find all this neat info on there, no matter what you're looking for. And I'm not telling people to got gw.com or gwww.com, it's just common sense imo. BlazeRick 09:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Heralds could be added to each Town under a event. They could have a small F.A.Q. about the event, and a message to go check their respective language Guild Wars page to get further info. MithranArkanere 09:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Froggy's Hat[edit]
This seems to fit best here, but in Kamadan near where First Spear Dehvad is there are some graves, where there was a frog with a 'new' wizard style hat, kinda like a 'wicked hat' but with purple swirls on it and round the brim. Clue perhaps? Didn't Froggy wear the male style 'wicked hat' for a while? (I have a picture of it, but don't know how/where to upload it) BorisDePig 23:01, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Nice idea. It looks like the same hat he's always had to me. Plus, it wouldn't be very exciting to have another witches hat, would it? ;-) Biscuits 23:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- On that note, how many pumpkin crowns do we need? - HeWhoIsPale 13:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- We need 1 pumpkin hat and 1 witch hat. As I was not there last time (I only had Factions, and they don't believe in halloween), I got neither! Wishing for pumpkin hat and witch hat. However, it would be nice if the art is retouched, such as a different pumpkin face etc. Different arts could be in different cities, giving a chance to get the original art as well. Alaris 13:22, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
- Personally I hope they change it up and have something totally different...I don't like it when they just give us minor variations. They shouldn't offer previous hats...you should have been there to get it...otherwise you miss out. I say that because I made sure not to miss a single event since I started attending them...but I missed the first halloween, winterday, dragon festival, and tengu festival...but I don't care that I didn't get them...I wouldn't want people who did get them to get gipped like that. Yes they are a status symbol of how long you've been playing the game...it's one of the few things that still is...and it should remain that way.--Thor79••Talk 01:21, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- You make a valid point... but one that I don't happen to agree with. I think novelties like that should be available to newcomers as well. But honestly, I see that as a question of personal preference, and there is no right or wrong here. Alaris 05:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Additional treasures[edit]
I would like to know what they mean with "additional treasures floating in the chilly, autumnal wind". At the beginning of the event, reading this words, I thought they'd put some new treasures like Nightfall ones, but it seems I was wrong. °*° Fei °*° 16:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Time Zone Question[edit]
I would like to know what is the time for canada? I Am not good with time zones and i would realy , realy, realy like to know,i live in quebec and I would like to know when the mad king arrives so I dont wait 3 hours in LA. Thnx for your co-operation =)
- I'm in Quebec too (Montreal), and we're 3 hours off with ANet. So it's 3:00am to 3:00am on any special events. Alaris 23:09, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Australian time[edit]
Someone added AEST as +11, that's AEDST. AEST is GMT+10. If you're in NSW (or other DST states/territories) the King comes every 3 hours starting from 6pm Weds, and if you're in QLD every 3 hours from 5pm Weds. - BeX 09:27, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
so we have to be right *there*...[edit]
When mad king arrives to get the hat? Well, that sucks. That's probably why I didn't get one last year. Vanguard 11:28, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- you have to be there at the time the mad king hands them out. that's usually around 25 minutes after he appears. join in the last game (simon/madking says) and you'll be rewarded with one when he leaves. you can do this every time the mad king appears, which is 9 times. you're bound to get one surely. Future 14:17, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think that Vanquard meant with "right there" that you have to be somewhere particular in Kamadan or LA. This is indeed the case, you need to be standing in the green circle in either of the towns in order to recieve the hat. Don't quote me if I'm wrong though, might be the case that everyone in the town gets the hat. Participation of the festivities is in that green circle, so that's why I think that is also the spot to acquire the hats. BlazeRick 17:02, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I got lucky. I got to Kamadan 20 minutes before he arrives, waited, played, got the mask. I read somewhere I could quickly hop to LA in a short amount of time to get the next one. I did, and I got very lucky as he arrived less than a minute of me loading the area. Got both masks without having to wait 3 hours. My problem last year was, as I can remember, I didn't want to wait 2 hours thus never got the mask. Vanguard 20:08, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Time Zone Tables[edit]
Rather than spending the next 24 hours adding and removing various timezones from the listed table, why not add a link to a more in depth table? That way the basic table remains, but there is also a larger reference for those of us who don't want to spend all night telling players when the king arrives...
- Why are the tables on standard time? Calor - talk 01:43, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

- It's still daylight time, government extended it a week last year. At least in America, so its Pacific Daylight Time now, not standard. Not that it matters, because the event is over now. Calor - talk 18:37, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

This could have been so much better[edit]
Halloween was fun yes, but i think there could have been at least a few quests with some potions as rewards, i mean it was pretty boring to just do my normal thing in Halloween event, and I'm not that much of a big fan of PvP so i didn't play the Costume Brawl much either.
Just saying there could have been some quests. thanks for your time. -Who --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Robot .
Trivia[edit]
Paul Revere's words? "The Mad King is Coming" "The Mad King is Coming!" Sure sounds like a reference to me. "The British are Coming!" "The British are Coming!"
"Hes baaaack!" is also a reference. --24.159.219.162 15:27, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
