When is mad king coming!!??!!?!112 -- Nox Coma 09:00, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
I dont know! when halloween is here? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.246.19.58 (talk).
- First sign your comments, secondly mad king comes on the 31 of October every 3 hours starting at midnight (-7GMT), ending on the first of November at midnight(-7GMT), you will be able to get a hat from him on every time he comes, hope that helps.--Thedreadlordpie 17:26, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- That was very kind of you to answere but I was only joking =) Those are the words you hear about 25 million times during the halloween event (^_^) -- Nox Coma 17:56, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- That is true, but just wanted to answer a question that some people, in the next week or so, may have.--Thedreadlordpie 16:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

What hats do you think are going to be given out this year?[edit]
I have added this page so people can guess what hats are going to be given out this year, my guess are a Necrid Horseman mask[1] and a Executioner mask [2] fell free to add your guesses--Thedreadlordpie 16:34, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
My guess is that one of the masks is this --LazloW 19:16, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

- What makes you think it will be a mask and not a hat? After all, the headpiece was originally a hat. That's why the person you take your hat's to make them for you whenever you is called the "Fastival Hat Maker". However, the headpieces as of late have all been masks rather than hats. It seems to something closer to a 50/50 chance for either from what I can tell. 70.185.251.98 02:00, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
I think that would infringe copyright laws, but there's no reason why they can't have a generic evil clown mask yol
- I'm gonna see enough people dressed as the joker this year, the last thing I wanna see if a bunch of jokers running around guildwars.--Znof 18:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

What about the NPCs?[edit]
No mention of NPCs in Ascalon, Henge of Denravi, Kodlonu Hamlet, Champion's Dawn or Sunspear Great Hall. Any ideas?KJZ 01:31, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Because we don't know exactly who they are going to be it hasn't been added yet. The information that has been posted is what has been released by Anet. -- Wyn 03:28, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed, but who said that Droks & Tombs would be decorated? There is nothing from Anet to support that, yet. (sorry, forgot to log in first) KJZ 05:28, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Clock[edit]

How can this be? Have Anet read my wiki? They must have realised everyone loves Halloween so much they are expanding it. But the bad thing is im going to miss 2 days of it! Crap! Ah well. Thanks for the extention Anet! --Burning Freebies 10:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
- I do not think they made it 10 days because of what is on your wiki page, Anet have added more time because people that want to max the drunken, party and suger title are running out of time to max the title, why do you think they had grog droped over a weekend, it was to help people get the tital, I bet they will do a drop weekend for suger and party before guild wars 2.--92.9.254.163 11:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

- Time is not running out on getting titles. You can acquire them with or without an event going on, and even after GW2 is released to the general public GW1 will still exist. Any titles you continue to work on in GW1 will still move over to GW2. Ghosst • Talk • 15:17, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- I thought that GW2 was separate form GW1. I thought that the characters were not linked. In other words, like GW1, you can only share titles on the same account and only certain titles. If you create a new account in GW2 how can you share titles? All that I have read on GW2 shows it to be a separate game. Are you sure we will be able to pass titles along into GW2? Next time source a comment like that plz. It eliminates the doubt that I am currently experienceing. 70.185.251.98 14:22, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Have you read about the Hall of Monuments? Things placed there will have *some* effect on GW2. You'll end up linking your GW1 account to GW2. The question of what effect and how big of an effect are yet to be known. --JonTheMon 15:08, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Are there any collector npcs this year?[edit]
I missed the collector npcs last holiday event this year, who exchanges items for decayed or, char carvings, white mantle emblem etc. Are there any such collectors this year? 60.240.51.3 16:47, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

- Steve, there is a chance that more collectors may appear later. Then again, I may be wishing. Wynthyst; the point of references is to make the information as easy as possible to get to. Adding more clicks is not making it easy. I would like to see a side by side of all the collectors for all of the festivals. Having to click on six or seven collectors just to find out they all offer the same thing is not building effective reference material. KJZ 00:30, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Ornate Grawl Necklaces - Where is Horseman Irimund[edit]
I'm not very often angry, very angry. Every year, people can trade ornate necklaces at a collector. The whole year people play the game, gathering the resources...and then what happens...they don't put the collector in Ascalon. Thanks ... for disabling a way to get the sweet tooth, drunkard and party animal titles ... and the work over a year ... for farming those necklaces. Childish, very childish arenanet. The most frustrating is people selling them ... to people not knowing ... Only the people with lots of cash got the titles ... and have farmed it with no life in the past 3 years ... they had an advantage ... fair game policy????? I feel screwed .... and it's not funny.
- Don't you think you are slightly over reacting just a tad little bit? `\(O.o)/' 70.185.251.98 02:16, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Please put the Horseman Irimund in ascalon! And the feathered caromi scalps and glowing hearts are gone to ... please have a break ... come on Didis 22:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- The collectors normally don't appear all at once. You may yet see all of them return. Have patience and hopefully you will be able to trade your trophies for the Party Animal, Sweet Tooth, and Drunkard titles. BTW, yes, you can farm all three titles, but the Party Animal title is easiest to gain during events. Ghosst • Talk • 22:51, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- A nice in game chat with Linsey, realising rereading the thread, that i should possibly apologize if they will appear later on.....duuh and then i play from the beginning...silly me...so i take back all shouted above... SORRY Didis 23:24, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
This reminds me a lot of sitting in LA and listening to all the whining and questions about "when is Mad King Thorn coming?" "When do I get a mask?" and "ME ME ME ME ME ME" and so on... hopefully we can learn to be patient and possibly try reading what happened in the previous years? Besides, Anet will certainly do whatever they like. After all, they are the ones who created the game and all events within. I'd say they've done a pretty great job so far. They didnt' have to make the collectors the same every year but so far they have. It makes it easier on you and me who farm for these items, but they dont have to. See a pattern here?Anet isn't running for the Presidency and they dont' have to make crazy promises like the democrats. GW is the only MMORPG that does not cost monthly fees to play.(by this I mean I've looked for any similar game and they all charge). Try looking at the positives before you immediately out weigh them with your one or two negatives... 70.185.251.98 15:45, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

96.25.96.218 22:14, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Even though I think it's fake too, we dont' really know 100%. Sure we can say we KNOW one way or the other but in the end we dont'. So lets stop saying that we KNOW when we don't. It makes us sound so... immature... And here's my take on it. If ToT bags are dropping in Pre-Searing then I really think this would have to be a fake because Anet is the one main governing factor when it comes to controlling Pre-Searing. They have proven their determination in keeping Pre like Pre, so I think that unless they can change the drop rate or chances of getting a sword in Pre then this seems highly unlikely. 70.185.251.98 16:04, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Could someone plz clearify.[edit]
There are several collectors that have been present at prv. Halloweens. They are also present on the Halloween Collector wiki page. I've noticed two that are missing from the Halloween 2008 page. I was curious, is there an official anet page that declares the collectors, or have a few of them just been passed over when the Halloween 2008 was put together?
note: the two the i see that are missing at a quick glance are the collectors for termite legs and cermoni scalps, both collectors typically show up on halloween, if there is no official anet page is this why they have been omited from the Halloween 2008 page?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:93.81.182.54 (talk).
- From Friday 24th "Various NPCs and holiday characters begin to appear in Lion's Arch and Kamadan.". As in the collectors appear throughout the week. As you can see from the discussions above the collectors appear one/two at a time at different times. So just wait and see and I'm sure they'll all appear.- TheRave (talk) 17:25, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
I believe all the NPC collectors have been added. Anet never brings everything out all at once. As much as this question gets asked I wonder if anyone is listening. As of right now all the NPC collectors should have been added to the event that have been here for previous events. However, Anet is also known for introducing new things every year. So we'll see what happens tomorrow won't we? 70.185.251.98 19:50, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Will Anet introduce anything new? If so...[edit]
As we all have been pondering if Anet will bring out all the collectors this time I think it's safe now to breathe since they are back. But there remains another mystery. Will there be anything new this year? Since Friday at Noon PST, everyday at NooN PST Anet has brought out more NPC Collectors. Everyday day so far. Today we seem to have all of them so I'm thinking that maybe tomorrow might bring something new. I don't know what do you all think? I'm thinking maybe some new sweet treat. We've gotten lots of both to choose from so who knows? Also, what do you think this years headpiece will look like? You think it will be a hat or a mask? oh the anticipation... 70.185.251.98 20:02, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Is the body supposed to be missing?[edit]
Two Halloweens ago there was the actual body of the "dead" NPC in Lion's Arch and although he still comments about standing on him, his little dead body doesn't show anymore? Is he supposed to be underground/buried now or something? Thrashed 03:07, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Blockading the King with automaton bodies is very much a problem, since the perpetrators refuse to move away despite many people asking them to do so. It's a childish prank that diminishes the efforts of ArenaNet to provide quality entertainment by essentially removing the visual focus of the events. I bring this up here and now since there are people suggesting that GWWiki through this topic allows walling in the King with golem bodies: On Lion's Arch Dist 9 about a half hour ago, this was said: "golems at king not a problem as per wiki site: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Talk:Halloween_2008#Friday.._2ASigh.2 " Personally, I see nothing here to support statements like that one, but I thought it needed to be clarified for the juveniles who seek justification for their diminishing of the event experience. Pandelume 17:49, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that it is childish and just plain obnoxious, and could technically be considered a violation of the Rules of Conduct that are part of what you agree to when you create your account, since they are intentionally lessening the enjoyment of the game for other players and imo should be something that could earn a suspension from Anet if reported. -- Wyn 17:57, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I saw Gaile use her teal coloration to order around 3 golems to move in ID LA. It was hilarious. I myself don't need to see HIM to read what he's commanding but he's easily one of the best characters on Guild Wars, so it's nice to see him anyway.-- anguard 18:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Times[edit]
I really dislike the 24hr time display on the table. I don't think most people think in a 24hr clock, and Anet does not list things in 24hr clock, they use the am/pm designation. I think this should be changed back to the way it was originally. -- Wyn 02:27, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Even though personally I prefer using military time in most circumstances, I'd have to agree with Wyn due to the fact that ArenaNet uses the 12-hour notation. Maybe list both times; possibly in the format of <12-hour> / <24-hour>; especially since we have so much space width-wise to work with? --Kakarot 02:43, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind the UTC times being in 24 hr, since the wiki clock is that way, but I think the Pacific times need to be kept the same as the ArenaNet notations. -- Wyn 02:47, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Please change it back, most people have no idea how to read that.... I prefer the am/pm system to this --Shadowphoenix 02:48, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

24h time is much better IMHO and much less prone to confusion (happens a lot when ArenaNet message are translated in French, we never know if it's the morning or the evening as France use 24h notation instead of 12/12). 07:49, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- I can't find a single other instance where we have listed an event schedule in 24 hr format. It's no wonder everyone gets confused. I will leave the UTC times but not the Pacific times. -- Wyn 08:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Is there a reason to have both PST AND PDT listed? PDT is only observed in the summer, and it makes for more confusion. -- 08:45, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Because we are still in daylight savings time? -- Wyn 01:14, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Are the times for EST wrong? Wouldn't the first event start at 03:01 A.M. and not 02:01 A.M. as listed now? Wouldn't they all be an hour later than the times listed since it is three hours difference from Pacific time? I may be missing some thing critical though... Harem 02:33, October 30, 2008 (UTC)
- That's what I was thinking since I'm sure last year it started at 03:01 but am not sure if I (or possibly we) am/are still in EDT rather than EST which would account for that. --Kakarot 03:05, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

- They can't use PST. PST is Pacific Standard time, which doesn't come back until the second week in November. We're currently on Pacific Daylight Time, or daylight savings. That is, PST currently doesn't "exist," so to speak. Kokuou 06:02, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

- Not sure about the US, but in the UK loads of people get confused about the times of the events, more so when we're on daylight time. For some reason everyone in the UK thinks we're on GMT/UTC all year and that GMT changes an hour forward or backward. I've always tried to be helpful telling people how many hours until the event but I always get shouted down saying I'm wrong, then it turns out they are wrong. Rerun[edit]
I know it'll be a little late, but i really hope that they make a rerun of this festival, or at least extend it. Its right before the end of year exams(this automatically cuts out late nights of play) and it was on a Friday night, which means that alot of people may have had prior arrangements for that evening - especially in countries where Halloween isn't held. Mystic Boer. 198.54.202.110 14:42, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
- This year's Halloween was already expanded from the past to 8 days. I can pretty much guarantee there will be no extension or rerun. They've only done that when there has been a serious malfunction of ArenaNet servers. Halloween is always ON Halloween, regardless of the day of the week. -- Wyn 15:09, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

The extention of the event created a mass confusion within some players, who thought the mad king will make appearences until Nov. 2nd, thus making those players frustrated for missing the Finale and the masks.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:MarioDX (talk).

Nice of them to remove Bobby early[edit]
Sometimes Anet just **** me right off. The phrase "couldn't organize a p*ss-up in a brewery" springs to mind. Gamer title, etc., isn't exactly an easy title to go for! The reasons for not buying GW2 keep on coming. And they claim that this MMO is not a grinding one? Pull the other one. – josəph 11:24, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- You're saying that GW is pure grinding just because some of the optional titles require a grind? That doesn't make sense to me. If you think the title is a grind, don't go for that title, easy as that, no one is making you get the title.- TheRave (talk) 11:29, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

- Midnight was technically today already (12:00 AM or 00:00), but yeah, me and alot of other people were expecting today to finish up. :( FoxBat 13:54, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- These events normally end on Sunday night, why end this one early? Retro77
- ArenaNet keeps the time confusion going. IMO, when you say Sunday midnight, it's at the end of that day, not the beginning. Worse, the collectors are still there in LA, AC, and Kamadan, but are gone at the Sunspear Great Hall, Champion's Dawn, and Kodlonu. I haven't been to Denravi. The upshot is that all the tonic giving collectors are gone except for Garthim in Kamadan, who takes only sentient roots. Majorly disappointing. Pandelume 16:29, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

- The same thing happened to me last year while trading my Sentient Roots for Transmogrifier Tonics; the collector vanished during my last run. When I returned to town, he simply was not there and I was left with 2 stacks of roots. I just continued to collect them until Wintersday and used them then instead. The 50-odd days left until you can re-use the items will not be the end of all things GuildWars. This is normal, it happens every year.
Ghosst • Talk • 17:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)- No, it's not normal. Post from Regina Buenaobra:
- "We apologize for the event ending earlier than announced on the schedule. We know there are a lot of disappointed people who expected to login today to participate in the Halloween event. We goofed big time, and the times were not put in correctly. We cannot do a live build today to "turn on" the Halloween event, but myself and the Live Team will be meeting to discuss how we can make up that event time to you all.'"

- I'll be interested to see what comes of this. Although I do agree that holding onto the collector items until Wintersday isn't too bad. --Nkuvu 05:59, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- The Henge of Denravi NPCs were removed as well. Anet has apparently goofed big time twice (as speaking with Regina's words). 1)They ended the event prematurely without announcement 2)They removed only a part of the Halloween NPCs, as in that the ones in Kamadan and LA were still there. The latter is a very weird occurrence, since if they end an event prematurely and remove NPCs, why not ALL NPCs in one go, instead of 75% of the NPCs removed and leave the ones in the capital cities standing? The argument that they can't make a live build to compensate is not founded a lot, since they can easily revert the last update with their archived updates. And the time that it would have cost to revert the update could be given in the form of an extension. Understandable that the time-table would change then, which would not be good, so why not another weekend where just all the NPCs will return for either the sunday (the time missed in the event), although because it is to compensate, the whole weekend with the event would be a good thing to do.
- It might be nice to make (all) previous hats or just hats from a just-past event available from the Festival Hat Maker. People who could not make an event still could get the hat that way (it has no purpose in-game, except decoration, so I see no problem with that). The argument that it would be lazy or something like that for not being able to reschedule to attend events, is plain rubbish though. Some people have a personal life (with college, work, etc) which forces them to be unable to be at home to come online. It might be nice to not discourage players from the game by making stuff like this available also outside the event? The extra drops and so are the thing which the players who were able to attend have extra anyway. :) Hope this is not too confusing. Kind regards, Juriaan Cuthalion 18:34, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding making event hats available to anyone who missed an event, I think it would be nice yes, but I do think it would be unfair to have someone who has been playing for 2 months have access to all hats. Maybe limit it to events that happened while your account was active instead of just-past events? That could he hard on the servers. Or maybe a quest to get an hat? But that means time would have to be put into making said quests. Maybe trade in some faction to get it? I dunno it's a tough call, I'm sure ANet will figure it out.--Znof 19:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's hard on the Anet team indeed, since they will have to write an update for it, which makes the Festival Hat Keeper recognise when an account was created and unlock the appropriate hat. Towards the fairness of players who play 2 months and able to get all hats too....I can use myself as an example. I play since September 14th 2007. Before that I had never heard of Guild Wars even. I only knew about World of Warcraft and did not play that, due to pay-to-play costs. When I decided I definitely wanted to get a MMORPG to play, I have been looking in stores and stumbled upon Guild Wars. It appealed to me and therefor I started playing. If I had known before that this game was such fun, I would have started sooner. Based upon a redenation like that, maybe it's fair to make all hats available (just-past referred to an event which had been within 1 or 2 weeks before the moment of speaking), although something like faction, a quest or a small amount of in-game gold toneeded to unlock it would be a great idea! Kind regards, Juriaan Cuthalion 19:55, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Another option would be to allow festival hats to be uncustomized, or allow a hat customized from one account be wearable on a diffrent account but not allow them to be shown to the hat maker. Will will reward older character with a new source of income and allow newer players or players who couldn't make an event the ability to grab missed hats. But in the end it's up to ANet on what to do.--Znof 07:45, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
