Template / Category[edit]

Not sure what template should be used or if there even is an apropriate category for them. If any one is wondering 77 armour was tested trough 0 Strengh WildBlows, -20 armour on critical was taken into consideration as well. Biz 01:31, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

HM farming drops[edit]

Do they drop gold stuff and colectables or do you just sell the stuff to merchants?

They do drop gold stuff, majority of which are hammers for some reason, collectibles would be included in loot scaling so its not much to hope for there. Biz 05:21, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
What's the real point for farming these things? 66.194.217.223 12:24, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
You can do it for salvaging materials, leveling up, nostalgia + fun, survivor title etc. Farming them as means of making cash did die with introduction of loot scaling, but they use to be really big among Warriors and Monk farmers. Biz 22:15, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Farming?[edit]

Does anyone even still farm these? — ( ɔ \ ʇ ) uɐɥʇıǝɹ Reithan Sig.jpg 22:07, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

Most definately. Farm them a lot for scavenger kit use, to get materials. IrishRedneck 17:54, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

overpowerd[edit]

does anyoneelse think they the hydra is heavily overpowered?

No, they are easely countered due to lack of skill variety, only "problem" would be knockdown from meteor. Biz 20:46, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

I think also that their overpowered :( The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.171.234.179 (talk • contribs) at 18:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC).

Well... they are kinda of first monster in Prophecies you really need to consider when exiting the town as general builds don't do well against more then 2 at a time, unless of course you fought level 10 hydras while being around level 10 yourself and know what strategy and build to use. Still, they do only weak physical and moderate fire damage, are susceptible to all kinds of diseases, leaver corpses, few skills/stances/wards of the right sort and they do little or no damage at all. =) Biz 09:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Spreading out will help a lot, as well as careful pulling to avoid larger mobs. The biggest problem with these guys is avoiding AoE knock-down chains on your healers. If you manage that then you'll have the battle half won. 145.94.74.23 17:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
In response to them being overpowered: They are but a mere footnote compared to Charr Flameshielders. I am Chris 23:47, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Hydras aren't stupid like Charr; when they get aggroed, they don't all ball up and sit in AoE, they actually start fighting. Flameshielders only have Fire Storm and Meteor Shower, both of which are easily interrupted...Hydras are a lot more dangerous because all of their spells are strong spike damage, and you have to spread out before they cast, not after. Hydra in Crystal Desert are rather dangerous to the unexperienced and non-max level players. EotN should indeed be more challenging than Prophecies, but when you face these reptiles for the first time... oh boy. By the time you make it to Charr Homelands you are already considered a hero of some sort by game/lore terms. Mediggo 12:47, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
And hydra behave differently cuz they attack in melee and have PBAoE spells. Mediggo 12:49, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

KD[edit]

Do these things have gale too? I kept getting knocked down without a meteor graphic or damage popping up. I wasn't aware that anything in the area could do that :< -Auron 09:09, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

They do not have gale, those skills listed are the only once they got. Biz 18:20, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
It could just be lag or something like that, or some sort of error with the Meteor animation. — Eloc 01:34, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

I've noticed while fighting single Hydras they often start with Fireball, about a 50% chance to, not usually Meteor, as the page states. --User Oneshot O.JPGneshot 15:42, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
