SHARDS OF ORR BARRAGE[edit]

Undead Killing[edit]
This is great for missions with lots of undead, or for fighting necromancer minions. Not only do your attacks get armor penetration, they will deal double damage to undead. Don't be too surprised to see one of your hits deal over 100 damage! This is handy against players because the holy damage will ignore +elemental armor on rangers/elementalists and +physical armor from warrior/assassin armor. Elder Angelus 21:44, 28 April 2008 (UTC)
- You are talking about an auto attack, right? Because a skill like Galrath Slash will crit a dervish for 100.StatMan 02:09, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Micah Fergson[edit]
It would seem he doesn't have this skill at all.
- Try signing. Also, you need to have it unlocked for him to have it. 72.209.41.202 05:47, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
does this make conjure not do +dmg?[edit]
68.38.173.221 20:36, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I believe it would, seeing as that skills like Grenth's Fingers trigger conjure spells. ~ Chao 20:16, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Its not hard to check in any case. I tested with a fiery bow and checked c-hits on a 60ar barrel. 70 dmg with just JI, with conjure it was still 70 dmg.--Justice 19:40, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Also, Grenth's fingers deals cold damage, triggering conjure frost, theres no conjure for holy damage, so it won't trigger.134.71.135.160 23:02, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Note that there is also a dependance on stacking - I read that if you applied a holy attribute change [this skill] and if you apply another one for cold [Grenths Fingers] then you can trigger something like Conjure Frost. Of course I forget the order, but I think the last one applied takes the elemental effect. Batl Skard 18:40, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Heroes[edit]
Under what conditions will Heroes use this skill? I was running with a friend yesterday, as a restoration ritualist, and her smiting monk would constantly cast it on me, despite me being in the backline and never wanding anything. Do weapon spells count as a "physical attack", causing it to be cast on me? Was is because my secondary class was Paragon? --Lyphen 12:52, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Were you wielding a martial weapon? --JonTheMon 13:47, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just a staff. It's happened a few times since then, with my secondary being monk, so we're considering simply removing it from the Hero's bar. --Lyphen 20:42, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
(reset indent) I've done some testing with this skill to see how Ogden would prioritize this in different situations. Player is always a mesmer. Ogden is always the one casting Judge's Insight. Here are the results:
Test 1:
- Party: Player, Tahlkora w/ staff on passive, Dunkoro w/ staff on passive, Ogden w/ staff on defensive, Koss w/ sword on offensive.
- Result: Ogden prioritizes casting on Koss, and will secondarily always cast on Dunkoro.
Test 2:
- Party: Player w/ staff, Tahlkora, Dunkoro, Ogden, Koss (same as test 1), Pyre Fierceshot w/ bow and w/ dire white wolf pet on defensive.
- Result: Ogden prioritizes Koss like before, and will still target Dunkoro second. Ignores Pyre and pet.
- Note: Switching Pyre to offensive does nothing.
Test 3:
- Party: Player, Tahlkora, Dunkoro, Ogden, Koss, Pyre (same as test 2), Kahmu w/ scythe on offensive.
- Result: Will prioritize Koss, second target is now Kahmu.
Test 4:
- Party: Player, Tahlkora, Dunkoro, Ogden, (same as test 1-3) Pyre w/ bow and dire white wolf pet on offensive, Koss w/ staff on offensive, Kahmu w/ scythe on passive.
- Result: Ogden prioritizes Kahmu first, and Dunkoro second. In cases where the halved recharge triggers and Ogden can maintain on 3, third target is Pyre.
Test 5:
- Party: Tahlkora, Dunkoro, Ogden, Pyre, Koss, Kahmu (same as test 4), Player w/ sword w/out req. fulfilled.
- Result: Ogden prioritizes Kahmu first and Dunkoro second, Pyre third.
Test 6:
- Party: Tahlkora, Dunkoro, Ogden, Pyre, Koss (same as test 5), Kahmu w/ staff, Player w/ sword w/ req. fulfilled.
- Result: Ogden gets confused AF. Alternates between keeping it up on player and Pyre, but sometimes ignores player or Pyre for Dunkoro, even when the recharge is not halved.
Conclusion: I was fairly certain until test 6. Martial weapon does not matter but melee weapon does, but apparently so does weapon requirement to some extent. Martial classes seem to have some kind of priority, possibly warriors ranking higher than a dervish. Further testing would be required to narrow down which factors really matter and which of those matter most/in what order. Takeaways are that heroes are confused and stupid, and you should only try using this skill on a hero if you have at least 2-3 melee party members to maintain it on for each copy of Judge's Insight in the party (ymmv with attribute level and enchanting mods). Otherwise you need to disable and micromanage. 81.170.176.98 14:27, 26 October 2019 (UTC)
Generalization of damage increase[edit]
Doing a few calculations, I've come to a rough estimate on how much damage 20% armor penetration translates to:
Player Armor -- Increased Damage by % under Judge's Insight
60 -- 23.1%
80 -- 31.9%
100 -- 41.4%
When you combine these numbers with already existing armor penetration (lets say Cracked Armor) damage increase with respect to normal damage levels becomes:
Player Armor -- Increased Damage by % under Judge's Insight and Cracked Armor
60 -- 23.1% (unaffected by Cracked Armor)
80 -- 74.1%
100 -- 86.6%
You see warriors launch themselves forward in battle in PvP expecting to be largely ignored or at least hardly hit with damage. Might be a worthwhile strategy to equip this on a fast killing assasin + Weakened Armor on his opponent to take down that confident tank like it were a squishy and leaving the other party members to panic in response. --80.16.169.162 14:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Retarded[edit]
Isn't holy damage armor ignoring, making armor penetration absolutely useless in this skill? >_> ~Even If They Tried --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.189.121.185 (talk).
- Not all holy damage is armor ignoring, including this skill, which is discussed in the notes section. -- FreedomBound 20:20, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Avatars[edit]
Anyone know what happens if you use a skill that changes your damage type like Avatar of Melandru with this skill, do you deal holy or earth damage?--62.31.164.83 11:23, 10 October 2010 (UTC)
- it will cause you to do Holy Damage. --The Holy Dragons 20:27, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- most recent one, I think I remember that being the case when tested in SoO.
Hundred Blades[edit]
Does it change the slashing damage dealt by 100b to holy damage? I'm about to tackle SoO for the first time in HM, hoping I can use this + MoP for ultra pretty numbers --71.20.15.252 18:58, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- No, your sword attack will do holy damage, but the AoE effect comes from HB, so it will still be slashing damage. Same with Vow of Strength and any other similar skill. FleshAndFaith 20:56, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
