Update edit to main page....
reflects the current month :) Revert if you had other plans :p --rawr 09:33, 4 January 2010
- I was wondering, would making the process automatic be a good thing? It'd take quite a lot of code but if done properly we won't have to manually update this anymore. — Why 22:02, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
- No need to do that... poke | talk 22:05, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
We change it only a few times a year and it's little trouble to do so. Additionally, Anet has a tendency to be... inconsistent. Read: Reduxes, extensions, etc., so the Main Page could potentially be out of sync with the end of an event in-game. calor (talk)Nevermind, I should try getting more sleep. And actually reading. 22:13, 7 January 2010 (UTC)- I expected you to say that, but still I wanted your input. My main concern was that we're always a couple of days late but it isn't a big issue. Editing it manually works. — Why 02:29, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Skill update previews
As much as I don't like those previews, they are related to incoming features, so I believe they should be linked either from the main page or from the Upcoming changes and features article. Since we have a main index list of all future skill update previews (assuming they are going to become a regular feature), I think it would work better as a permanent article on the main page than as a permanent link on the Upcoming Changes article (which IMO is more suited for temporary news). I would suggest a link in the main page below the Upcoming changes and features link, by the side of the Guild Wars 2 link. Erasculio 22:00, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Why would you hate those pages? Because they spam RC? I personally think they were a stroke of genius, and getting them created was largely due to your proposal to eliminate user discussion on Regina's page :D This gives everyone who wants to rant/rave about upcoming skill updates a dedicated place to do so, rather than flooding Regina's journal talk (which is where these were initially going to be placed). -- Wyn talk 23:17, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I think Erasculio's gripe was that these discussions shouldn't be happening on the wiki at all ("the wiki is not a forum", etc). -- pling 15:42, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- I like how the edit copy currently looks. Seems the most ;logical place to put the link, and I think it'd be a good idfea to have the link on the main page. ~ PheNaxKian 16:28, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Zaishen Challenge Quest templates
I created automatic templates for the Zaishen Challenge Quests so that people don't have to keep updating a list that occasionally results in unknown being displayed on the main page. They can be accessed using {{Zaishen Mission}}, {{Zaishen Bounty}}, and {{Zaishen Combat}}. If you'd like to add predictions, the easiest way is to use {{Zaishen Mission|+1 day}} etc. See Template:Zaishen Mission/doc (the other two have doc files but work the same way, so you only need to view one), or ask me if you need help. -- Kirbman 05:54, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Like it, great job.--Itay Alon 20:53, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

War in Kryta
I feel like we should be acknowledging the War in Kryta in some way on the main page. A lot of users will come to this site looking for guides and the like, but completely miss the whole alternate reality game going on because they don't use the forums, and it'd be kinda cool to liven up the MP with this stuff. Stuff like this is a pretty good idea, although obviously it needs to be done in a more accessible way (it stretches my browser with its puny screen resolution), and shouldn't be done in a way that disrupts users access to the resources they probably came to the wiki to get. Using something like this might be a pretty good start. Any thoughts? --Santax (talk · contribs) 01:49, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- Discussion about this seems to be going on at GWWT:CP#Suggestion, so it's best to continue it there. -- pling 14:59, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Miniatures
Why does it dislpay the usage instructions section, rather than the overview section? Seem an odd part to skip to. Backsword 17:27, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- The proposed text is open to anyone. poke | talk 19:17, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Shining Blade Bounties
The Shining Blade Bounties should be added to the main page if they become a regular event. 58.106.158.34 10:15, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree completely. They could be in the same spot as the zaishen quests. Midio 15:13, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

- Main Page/editcopy. --Silver Edge 07:20, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, I took a look at that coding and it was way over my head. Somebody else will have to do that or show me how. :S --Musha 17:21, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- I took a look at it, and it seems that we can't simply add the Shining Blade Bounty alongside the Zaishen quests on the editcopy yet. The "latest intel" box simply contains a link to another page, Main Page/activities, whose contents automatically fill the intel box. That page, in turn, refers to a template for each quest (eg Template:Zaishen Bounty), and this template contains a list of all the upcoming quests in the order they are going to run.
- So, before we can add the Shining Blade Bounty to the main page, we need to wait for all the quests to run and establish the pattern in which they run. Only then will we be able to create a template, and only with a template can we add the Shining Blade Bounty to the main page. --Mme. Donelle 20:16, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Or you can just add the text, there is no requirement to use a template. -- FreedomBound 00:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, but then you'd have to update it everyday. –alistic 00:04, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- And how were the Zaishen quests documented until we had enough info to know? People were even trying to watch the codex skill lists... The weekend events are updated as needed. Pretty sure this isn't that big of an issue. It can say unknown for ten minutes until someone gets ambitious enough to update it. -- FreedomBound 00:07, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Why not make the template now, set the last number on the bounty list as Unknown, and fill it in as it goes along? Each time a new bounty comes along, add it in and adjust the archive page to reflect the new number of bounties (making sure to always move the unknown to the last). This way when the bounty changes, it doesn't list an incorrect bounty and it gives us time to create the bounty page and correct the list.--Neithan Diniem 02:46, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Neithan! Remember me? Its Fing Uanegg. Anyways, I agree. The GW fanbase is completely capable of updating this info every day. I'm not sure if I have the Authority to do this though, because it requires tampering with Main Page/activities. Unless there is some violent outcry against information being shown for easy access, I believe the Shining Blade Bounty should be shown. Satrec Pylonag 10:51, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- For now I've added it so people can manually update like weekend events. Just change Amalek the Unmerciful to whoever the new guy is and increment the date (23.05.2010 to 24.05.2010), until Poke (or someone, but probably Poke) puts together something properly fancy. - Tanetris 11:24, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Im gona attempt to make the needed pages in my userspace and see how they work, and hey Fing!--Neithan Diniem 16:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Did it! Made functioning Shining Blade Bounty and Shining BladeBounty/index pages. The only error I could think of is in the index, theres a large number in there that I am not entirely sure should be. To add a new bounty target to the list, move the unknown variable to the next number up, and put the bounty in the correct order. Then go to the index page and add 1 to the both of the number totals. That will make the template up to date.--Neithan Diniem 16:27, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree with the change until we have full cycle documented. For now it has to be manually updated, and the change you've made forces people to dig for a template within a template (along with a second template within that) to find where to update it. One edit directly on the activities page is far simpler. - Tanetris 17:55, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- If the consensus is that, then its fine. Ill keep the templates updated myself for the time being however. The current template allows for only the main template to be updated, and the archive has a buffer of one day (more could be added, and once the cycle is complete narrowed down to the exact amount). If all of the peacekeeper bosses are in game, one would only have to count them and there is your number.--Neithan Diniem 18:02, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah I took a look at that code trying to fix it, and it says the source it comes from is Shining_Blade_Bounty. No matter where I go on this site to find the page to edit to fix the main page, it says it doesn't exist. So something's not right. Meh, let someone else fix it. Tender Wolf 18:38, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well since I made the pages I know what they are: Template:Shining_Blade_Bounty Template:Shining_Blade_Bounty/index
- And there ya go ^^. Index lets for the maximum number (currently Ive set it at 25 for a buffer), while the other is the actual quest list. If you add/subtract to one of them, make certain you do so on the other, otherwise you'll likely break the template.--Neithan Diniem 19:13, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

new layout
i like the new one i just think the icons could be a little better- Zesbeer 19:36, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed, although I would place the emblems of the White Mantle and the Shining blade in place of the 2 faces. Royal bounties is not a really fitting name for a sector that only shows 1 Royal bounty. ---- Demonic Cobra 17:16, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

- I'm getting a bit tired of it tbh, would love to see a change back to our standard layout, but I don't think most people agree. — Why 18:45, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Why not switch it to that gold layout on the editcopy? The Shining Blade have moved from their covert-op setup and are now an official force to be reckoned with. the Gold look would in a way support this. After a month or two the game may have moved to where a new layout can be made and it'll fit great.--Neithan Diniem 05:40, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Shining Blade Weekly Quests
- → moved from Talk:Main Page
If nobody else has noticed, every Thursday's update since the beginning of June has brought with it a new Shining Blade quest. Perhaps on the main page we should add a thing in the This Week category. It has been consistent so far, so I see no reason for it to change. I don't really know much wiki code, so someone else will have to do it. The Orlando 14:41, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- I think you are speaking about quests like Riverside assassination. These do not belong in the same section, since they are not rotating. Unlike all other quests there, you can do them at any time, even after the week they were introduced in is over. --Xeeron 14:46, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- I kind of like this idea, but it is true that it wouldn't really belong in the This Week category because there's no rotation. So perhaps a section of it's own? Daeheru 21:14, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- It might look okay if it's something like "new this week" section, but I doubt it's going to keep continuing with new quests so it wouldn't belong in the mainpage. --Lania 21:21, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- I would like it even more if they added assassinations for each Prophecies mission until each mission has an explorable version. MithTalk 21:59, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Transparency
Just a question as why the main page's background is white instead of transparent. Is it for making sure edited monobooks and the like dont limit the readability of the page? If there really is no reason, then should it be changed to being transparent to show the monobook blue?--Neithan Diniem 21:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? The content area of every page is white (as defined by the main css), not transparent, and what do you mean "monobook blue"? -- Wyn talk 23:04, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
- Eh, nevermind my rambling I guess. Your statement answered my question. The "Monobook blue" is the light blue/green coloration for the monobook theme that is behind the page content.
- haha, I feel idiotic now.--Neithan Diniem 00:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- The body background color that you call "monobook blue" is #F9F9F9 and is also defined in the main css. No need to feel idiotic, but you might want to try FireBug if you use FireFox so you can see what all the different css elements are. That way if you want to customize your css a certain way, you have all the id's at your fingertips. -- Wyn talk 00:34, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
