Talk:Tyria
Shouldn't the "History of Tyria" be unloaded into its own article? It could be linked from here, but it seems out of place in a location article. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 16:39, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
- I agree. See, for instance, Timeline. -- Lord Ehzed 17:08, 20 March 2007 (EDT)
Kingdom Dispute[edit]
"This continent is often referred to as "The Kingdoms of Tyria" by foriegners; this is likely because this continent contains the only four known kingdoms in the world (Ascalon, Kryta, Orr, and the Deldrimor Dwarves) and these kingdoms' territories make up much of the inhabital land of the continent."
There is no way this is worded right. Perhaps Cantha is an "Empire" and Elona is a "Nation", but technically they are kingdoms too! Or is this over the literal meaning of kingdom (as in the medieval "with-a-king" sense)? File:Esig2.jpg Eldin 15:15, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, technically, Orr is gone and Kryta has no current royal family in power. --77.98.23.140 15:37, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, I have gone into their and deleted it if that was allowed.74.225.103.52
This sentence[edit]
"Tyria and Elona are part of the same unnamed supercontinent, the border between Tyria and Elona is vaguely defined and fairly arbitrary, some NPCs, such as Fangfa Tai and Acolyte Norge, refer to the Crystal Desert as part of Elona. The Crystal Desert is listed here because it is on the same map as Tyria, and is part of the Prophecies campaign. "
Needs to be reworded, doesnt sound grammatically correct. I would do it myself, except i have no idea what it's trying to say brains12 (talk) 14:10, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, this si just a thought, since vizer Khilbron or something is still left, same with 3 or 4 other people, won't that mean it is a kingdom of orr still? XD And yes, you are right, that isn't worded correctly.
Fixed the grammar issue.Ashes Of Doom 02:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Seems fairly redundant to me, so I removed it. There is some argument that the Crystal Desert could be part of Elona, not Tyria, but it's fairly obviously in Tyria from my point of view, and that sentence doesn't have much function except to confuse people. Biscuits 13:25, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell Tyria refers both to the whole world and the main continent, including Elona. The Crystal Desert is part of Elona, but since Elona is part of Tyria, the Cyrstal desert is both part of Tyria and Elona. Tyria and Elona are used separately because of Campaign separation, but it's the same continent. MithTalk 04:56, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Before Factions and Nightfall, it was much simpler. Because then Tyria was the world, and Elona and Cantha were just obscure places you heard about in the Crystal Desert and from the Canthan Ambassador. :) Biscuits 18:10, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well it's pretty easy to determine where Cantha starts/ends considering it's an island continent, similar to Australia. — ク Eloc 貢 00:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- But Cantha is still part of Tyria. Australia part of Earth. :) Much easier when the world doesn't share its name with one of the continents! Biscuits 09:46, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Tyria is the name of the continent and the world. Remember Europe is connected to Asia but is a separate continent itself. I recall that technically, the Crystal Desert, including the Desolation is part of Elona. Perhaps, like the Ural Mountain Range is a factor in the division of the continents of Europe and Asia, that the Blazeridge Mountains and the Sea of Sorrows mark the division of Elona and the namesake continent, Tyria. Who knows what continent Orr is on? I think it's on Tyria, but I'm not sure. Cantha might be an island, but it is possible it connects to something to the south. They don't say if Tyria is round like Earth, but Cantha might connect at the Shiverpeaks to the north or past a sea, as well. Bear that in mind. Also: Orr is a peninsula connected to the Crystal Desert. Was it originally an island, or connected by a thin strip of land to Elona? Was the desolation also underwater?
- If you look carefully, the northern bit of Tyria goes off the map, and on the map of Cantha, the continent goes off in the south-east corner. IMHO a note should be added - something along the lines of "It is discussed that Cantha, as well as Elona, is connected to Tyria".Mechu95 18:23, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Map[edit]
Found a pretty picture in the dat. --King Of Kamelott 21:46, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
This map is all over the game, i've seen this on signposts in ring of fire, and in Ascalon, and in a few other places 24.233.254.51 20:48, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Anyone used the symbols to help build the alphabet? tyria is clearly written and the A matches Ascalon's... pretty safe to say its the same alphabet... MrPaladin talk 20:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Islands[edit]
the islands north of kryta(the black oens) i think theese are the area the charr got the cauldron for the searing
I'm curious on what is on this island. Maybe future content like sorrows furnace? Dero Ahmonati 23:13, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- goign to have to agree that may be were charr got the cauldrons(however the presence of one in the desolation throws that off but it was titan magic--Lord randy taylor 01:34, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
its probably Hrangmer, unless Hrangmer is the same as the door of Komalie (doubt it as theyd have never made it past the Mursaat, and on another ntoe they didint move south till they got the magic, so the Caudron is form that island or from the Northern( FAR north reaches of charr homelands, or east of ascalon) either way that volcano is our safest bet on its origin--Lord randy taylor 21:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Trivia[edit]
In the ancient world the people of the city of tyre were called Tyrians. Used commonly in old texts (ex: Virgil - The aeneid ) 69.148.16.232 01:59, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- I remember thinking this when I read The Aeneid, but it could just be coincidence. --'Mai Yi' talk 20:21, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Beyond[edit]
What is to the east and west of Tyria? Do we know if there are other lands, or is it just a globe, the jungle and Ascalon connect. Is the map just a flat drawing? This would be pretty interesting to know. 97.86.229.205 15:42, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- According to the Fort Koga description, there is a western coast of Tyria just off the map. The map is flat, but the world is implied to be a globe. We don't know what is east of Ascalon (though southeast is Elona and northeast lies gw2:Hrangmer. -- Konig/talk 21:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
