"I can kill you with my brain." probably comes from an episode in Firefly. "Also... I can kill you with my brain." ~ River Tam (Episode 11) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Rohz . ya it might have depending on who came out first

Hannai has a similar line. -- Gordon Ecker 06:58, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

"Never mess with an Asura when death is on the line!" Might be a reference to The Princess Bride, "Never mess with a Venicen when death is on the line!"? "You're my kinda stupid" is also a qoute from Firefly. maybe that should be added to the trivia section also. Heres the Dialog. Ifive 19:30, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Headgear[edit]

According to Razah's page, He, along with Vekk and Xandra have their headgear shown. However, on vekks page, it states that his headgear is not visible. I'm going to change it to state that his headgear is shown (there is something there). Feel free to revert, but give an explanation please. --70.88.161.146 19:20, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

You can see looking at his armor gallery (Vekk/Armor_gallery), that I dont think you can see his headgear with his basic armor (I could be wrong on that) but you can definatley see that as you upgrade his armor he does get a head piece that is visible --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 19:26, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

AI[edit]

I just dont understand how the AI of Vekk works. For me, he always runs up as close as he can to any mob when he runs out of energy and cant cast any spells for a while. I have him equipped with a Staff/Wand and it also meets the requirements. So its not anything wrong with that, making him not able use it. So I have to keep myself busy flagging him all the time. Any other caster Heroes always tries their best to stay at range when not using touch spells or something like that. But Vekk, for me anyway, does the very opposite. Making him veeery hard to keep alive sometimes. Its a bit annoying especially when playing HM or against more difficult mobs. And I cant get around the problem. Doesnt matter if he's set on attack of defend either. *grrr*--Tommy Mag 12:49, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Err first of all I hurd that flagging your heroes was gud, secondly yeah hes abit chargey but its the same with rest of offensive caster heroes. --Super IgorUser:Super Igor 13:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

try putting him on Guard instead, you can do that on the hero penal, then he'll only attack if you're on aggro ShoGunTheOne 13:02, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

If you say c+space into a mob and then stop near it the hero would still aggro it, even on guard the command to cast is given. --Super IgorUser:Super Igor 13:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
"Guard" doesn't mean the heroes won't attack if you command them using ctrl-space. Once you hit ctrl-space the heroes would either start moving in to attack or start using a skill. To get them to cancel, you have to target them somewhere else or by moving in an opposite direction. You can't expect the computer to magically know that you want him to stop by stopping your character. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 16:13, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

No no no thats not what I meant att all. Im well familiar with aggro and how it works. What I mean is this scenario (often happens to me): Say that I first call a single target. No big mob groups, just a single target. Then the melee chars gets up close to the mob and often can keep aggro pretty well. Vekk, who now should stay at range and cast his spells, often immediately run up close to the mob. If I got Koss or Jora as my melee hero tanking, Vekks right up there with him/her in the face of the mob. This is not the behaviour u want from a ranged character. I never ever see Magrid The Sly or Jin do this. They always struggle to stay at range. And they do it quite well too. The reason for me reacting on it is that the other heroes and henchies does not do this at all. They do their job very very good and know their place in the group. Not Vekk thoug. Yes yes I can manage but its quite an interesting behaviour (my Vekks anyway), he just doesnt behave like he should do.--Tommy Mag 07:41, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

I see. But is this only with Vekk? Have you tried the same build and same equipment on Zhed or Sousuke and see they do the same thing? I didn't notice much difference between Vekk and the other two; but then again, I don't use Vekk much, since I already decked out the other two. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 16:40, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Weapon size[edit]

Should this really include the note about weapons being smaller for Vekk? Weapons scale to whoever is holding them, not just Vekk. -- User Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 01:52, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Namesake[edit]

Any chance Vekk is named after Vexx? Vexx's people sure look a lot like asura. -- User Kirbman sig.png Kirbman 23:07, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

VSAC in GW2 and the gw2w tag[edit]

It's still too hot here and I can't sleep. :@

Well, looks like we have 2 (not directly linked) issues here: 1) Should the gw2w tag be used/kept/removed? 2) What about the info regarding VSAC?

Regarding the gw2w tag I have some remarks:

1) Conformity: So far all of the other pages on the gww I have seen which also have a corresponding article on the gw2w use that tag. Feel free to correct me and point me to exceptions. But so far I don't see a reason why this page should be the sole / an exception.

2) "The GW2 article has no value": The tag translates into "The Guild Wars 2 Wiki also has an article on Vekk." Nowhere does it say "for more information or additional value please see the GW2 page". It's an info tag; it does not judge the quality of content of another wiki for another game.

3) "The GW2 article has no value": If the quality of the GW2 article is the deciding point this would imply that now someone needs to watch the article on the other wiki for the other game just in case someone edits that article and it suddenly becomes valuable enough to merit the gw2w tag here. IMNSHO this is more than just a tad bit ridiculous.

So my vote goes to keeping the gw2w tag on this page.

Now what about the info regarding VSAC?

Tbh I don't really care much about this snippet. But: The VSAC is an item in another game. It should be included on the gw2w Vekk page (and it is). For the gww it is utterly irrelevant imo. For GW2 related stuff there is a place: the gw2w. So I'd keep that info off the page. Steve1 (talk) 22:50, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

The GW2W and GWW tags is meant to be used for "further reading" or "additional information not directly relevant to this wiki's game." That is their use and their purpose as deemed by consensus when the GW2W was created. Regardless of the trivia note, that tag has no place on this article, given how said article provides absolutely nothing that isn't or cannot be on this article. Granted this article - like most henchmen and hero articles - is lacking, but that's more of a reason to improve the article rather than fixate on adding a tag.
The GW2W article isn't of value, and won't be until ArenaNet adds something to GW2 that gives new lore on Vekk. As it stands, GW2 practically ignores Vekk utterly. There's nothing in GW2 other than an item that adheres to a worth of GW2W having an article on him. Honestly, I'm confounded as why folks did such when they'd go and delete articles on Dhuum which does get new lore. Konig 05:08, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
Who says, we cannot have this trivia, "* An item in Guild Wars 2, Vekk's Solidified Aether Circuit, is named after him", here? It is a spoiler trivia and what do we have trivia for, if we cannot add that content? Rodan (talk) 17:28, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
I think (but I might be wrong) that there has been a concensus to keep GW2 stuff from the gww. Steve1 (talk) 18:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
"The GW2W and GWW tags is meant to be used for "further reading" or "additional information not directly relevant to this wiki's game." That is their use and their purpose as deemed by consensus when the GW2W was created. " Okay, could you be so kind to point me to that consensus please?
If that's true than that's that. Although I still think that argument is ludicrous.
I do have a personal request though: You have now removed the tag 3 times in a few days. I got the sneaky suspicion that this could fall under the 1RR. I started this discussion since there was an obvious disagreement between 4 people (unless that anon (77.97.208.117) was you). Maybe you could wait until concensus has been reached (again), before you continue removing the tag. That would be appreciated. Steve1 (talk) 18:01, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
No consensus was ever reached. In fact, a problem only comes in with "spoilers" such as the death or after-death state of an NPC. This is not such a situation. If we kept all GW2 info out, then Sohothin, Magdaer, Cauldron of Cataclysm, and many many other articles would not exist or have trivia lines on this wiki and wouldn't have for years. Canthan Emperor wouldn't make mention of Usoku. So on and so forth. In fact, this issue has only been presented as a problem for Nicholas the Traveler but no other article.
Typically, the view is "if it has a GW2W article, and it isn't directly relevant to the game, then it is to be documented on GW2W with a GW2W tag" rather than "no GW2 information on this wiki, at all." It's kind of a case-by-case situation.
If the consensus for the tag usage wasn't buried in the nether of one or both of the wikis, I would. I did a quick search but couldn't find it. Nonetheless, the reason why "all of the other pages on the gww I have seen which also have a corresponding article on the gw2w use that tag" is because a vast majority of articles which have an equivilant article on GW2W has new lore presented.
As explained on my talk page, I have not broken 1RR, as I have only reverted once in my three edits. By technicality, if there is a disagreement on the content of an article the disputed content should be removed until said dispute is hidden (or it should be denoted as such with both sides shown if possible). Konig 00:28, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
"That is their use and their purpose as deemed by consensus when the GW2W was created." versus "No consensus was ever reached." versus "If the consensus for the tag usage wasn't buried in the nether of one or both of the wikis, I would": You're not contradicting yourself, are you? Or is it my legasthenia?
I checked the articles you mentioned (Sohothin, Magdaer, Cauldron of Cataclysm) but cannot find any GW2 info there. Or maybe the fact that those 2 swords pre-date the Exodus of the Gods?
"Typically, the view is "if it has a GW2W article, and it isn't directly relevant to the game, then it is to be documented on GW2W with a GW2W tag"" sounds reasonable to me.
I don't have any problems with Rodan's edit, and not to play devil's advocat, but this sounds to me like the VSAC info should be kept to the gw2w with a tag on this site. You seem to disagree since you added that info twice?
"If the consensus for the tag usage wasn't buried in the nether of one or both of the wikis, I would". Convenient, convenient. ;-P Let's just hope your GW memory serves us better than your Latin memory. ;-P Steve1 (talk) 09:19, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
No I am not contradicting myself. There was consensus, but it about the usage of the tag and is old and I don't recall where exactly it was nor where it was archived to - I'd imagine the community talk page though. For GW2 info on this wiki, no consensus was reached about how to treat it when there's no adequat GW2W article (e.g., Nicholas Sandford's trivia note about when he died and where he was buried that sparked the whole "problem" (problem of ninnies who can't handle a fictional character they like dying and insists upon Fanon Discontinuity). However, as always, a new consensus on how to use those tags could be reach should discussion about them be taken. Nonetheless, currently they are not linked to articles which provide no new information.
The very existence of those three articles is based on GW2 lore - specifically lore from gw2:The Ecology of the Charr and gw2:The Movement of the World which though released in 2007 were deemed to keep solely on GW2W. They hold relation to GW1, however, as though never named we can see those three objects.
I am in disagreement with tagging to gw2:Vekk because that article holds no information valuable to a player. GW2 barely mentions Vekk, and when they do it never gives new information - it's just a nod to his existence (which I presume is why the article was made - so people who never played GW2 can go and search on the GW2W "Vekk"). I hold no problems with linking to the item, though I do not see why we need to. IF the other article, gw2:Vekk, held information that was gleaned solely from GW2 and it is not relevant enough to place here, I would support the GW2W tag. But that is not the case - all it does is glorify his relation to the EotN heroes and explain the storyline of EotN in relation to Vekk's aid in it - nor can it be the case as it stands to my knowledge and GW2W-searching for Vekk's name. My adding of the item's link was an attempt to a compromise over the usage of the GW2W tag which in of itself adds 0 value to the article and only detracts players into reading what could - and should - be duplicate information. Konig 18:21, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
I wasn't actively aware that those 2 articles held this kind of relevance. But now that you mention it, it does make sense.
I also have to admit that I didn't recognize your compromise as such. Now I can see it as such. But before ...
But thanks for taking the time to type out your answer. Steve1 (talk) 19:22, 27 July 2013 (UTC)
Why not do as I did and use the spoiler tag, instead of the {{gw2w}} tag on articles here? Since, there's no information over there apparently? Rodan (talk) 17:11, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
The spoiler tag works for Nicholas, however I don't think its a spoiler for Vekk if they named something after him in gw2 :D -Chieftain Alex 18:18, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
I figured it was a spoiler related to Vekk from that game. Anything from gw2 can be a spoiler for this game. If it's noted over there, then I'd think a gw2w tag is all that's needed. It's just my opinion. Rodan (talk) 19:09, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't call it a spoiler in the least. Konig 20:59, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
