Talk:War in Kryta marketing
Split[edit]
I decided to be bold and split the page because no-one objected to the proposal on the War in Kryta talk page and the mammoth amount of information we have all smashed together in one place was making this a giant pile of useless text that people were unable to navigate. 58.106.43.167 17:32, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Excuse me? that page had everything needed in the right sections, this page is uneeded.--Neil2250 , Render Lord 17:34, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- The page WAS a bit long, and I wouldn't be a split. ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 17:48, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- It was one of the longest pages in the entire wiki and it's going to continue getting longer. We have all kinds of problems figuring out how to break down the information on other pages already and the viral marketing information can easily have it's own page. Now that they are split people can continue to focus on how to improve the War in Kryta page to make it more usable. This information still has a place, it's own place. 58.106.43.167 17:56, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Exactly. This way, we can just put a link at the bottom of the WiK page, and people can still get the information just as easily, if not more so (because they don't have to search the page for it). ThrainFile:User Thrain Sig.pngcontribs 18:10, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Im sorry but no, we do not need this page.--Neil2250 , Render Lord 18:11, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- I dislike the terminology, the name seems not suited. -- Cyan 18:17, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- This page covers unique content from anywhere else in the wiki. It's also bigger than the EotN page and has more text than the Prophecies page. The page it was split from is only going to need more content on it, and so is this page. Breaking up information into smaller packages enhances its presentation. Keeping everything on the one page is simply going detract from the effectiveness of the article. As far as terminology, I also dislike it. I am more than happy for someone else to come up with something more presentable or appealing. Cyan if your issue is the terminology, I welcome you to come up with something you like better. 58.106.43.167 18:21, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- My idea is that if we split it we should move the facebook part to an aditional page. The main article will be more intact then. -- Cyan 18:24, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

<resetting indent>You mean have a viral marketing article and a facebook updates article? Something like the War Chronicles? 58.106.43.167 18:29, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, the main article can stay on the War in Kryta page, and we can move the facebook part to a new one (because the facebook part is a fast expanding section). -- Cyan 18:34, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- While I agree the facebook part is the biggest problem in terms of size, I think the viral marketing campaign is more suited to it's own article partly because it doesn't deal with the game specifically. It's talking about content and events from outside the game. People going to the War in Kryta article should be informed about the War in Kryta, not the viral marketing campaign used to promote it. It would be fine to include it if it was a small paragraph or two, but it's massive walls of text. If it has its own page, information can be broken down more easily and presented more clearly, content which wouldn't fit on the WiK page would also become appropriate. We can still write a short blurb about the promotional campaign used, one or two sentences, and then link it here for people who want to read more about it. Splitting the two articles wasn't the final step, it's the first step. 58.106.43.167 18:41, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Bluntly: Make 3 pages, or keep it all on 1, your call.--Neil2250 , Render Lord 18:44, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- @ Neil: One page is just not clear anymore. @ 58: Ok, I agree with your last ideas. However, we need more people for a consensus. Otherwise we get heated discussions after the move with all the concequenses. -- Cyan 18:46, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Split it. The War in Kryta page should focus on content that is inside the game. -- Zora 18:57, 15 May 2010 (UTC)

Can I just say, this was probably the most exciting thing GW has ever done? Genius. 67.182.24.195 18:06, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Move[edit]
Poke suggested a move on the page from here to War in Kryta marketing. Reason? Lowercase. I support this move and I would like to see it done, but I would like to see what the community things. So, thoughts? :-) Kaisha 22:41, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
- Makes sense. Though every company hopes such campaigns "go viral", the campaign itself was simply marketing. G R E E N E R 06:08, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- There's no need for the adjective. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 10:20, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
