Talk:Wintersday Gift/Drop rate
Is this solely for the Wint-- Karasu (talk) 20:16, 6 January 2009 (UTC)ersday 2008?
I noticed on the second day of the event we received a GW patched at around 11AM HST. After the patch I started receiving tonics as part of the Wintersday Chest drop. Do we know if they will be patching a mini pet drop? It seems to me if they patch items to release on certain days we should be documenting them daily in stead of a lump sum for the entire event.
If I insert stats now can I update them as the event continues?
Blessings, Frederick
- The only reason this is only 2008 is no one did one for earlier years. This is also only for the Wintersday Gifts, not the Wintersday Chest. As for the mini polar bear, I would highly doubt they will be changing the drop rate. Just add another row each time you wish to add your numbers. -- Wyn 18:04, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

- Thanks, that makes sense I should read the topic better next time.

So I should have divided amounts of certain items by their corresponding drop amounts (e.g. Candy Cane Shards come in bundles of 10, so divide total by 10)? I would like to see the formulas for calculating the final percentages if someone has the desire to post them. Just for the sake of my mathematical curiosity. Thanks for all the work either way. - Yes - we only calculate the number of drops, not the actual amount of items you recieve. I've checked the table many times and there hasn't been a mistake in it as far as I know. Calculations are very basic. First i calculated the total gifts and the total rewards. If it's the same i calculate the totals of one kind versus the amount of gifts and i get the percentage. Lately they're heading steadily for the percentages I already listed in the Wintersday Gift table. First grade math anyone? -- Karasu (talk) 20:16, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- I've set it all up in an excel spreadsheet.... formula (total item/total gifts)x100 which I believe is the standard percentage formula. And yes, the total number of items is divided by the number per instance, i.e. when a gift gives you eggnog you get two so your total in inventory should be divided by 2 when listed. Oh, and I have my spreadsheet set up to double check that the numbers being listed correlate, thus yours got fixed Sardaukar. -- Wyn/talk 20:21, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback and again for the work! :) Sardaukar 12:23, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

documentation[edit]
If anyone wishes to, can you document the drops of 50 Wintersday Gifts? Reply here so others don't repeat. Thanks! → balistic ← 01:50, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I opened 100 presents and i received; 8 yuletide 8 p[eppermeint candy canes, 9 rainbow CCs, 24 spiked eggnog,44 snowman summoners,30 fruitcake and 60 CC shards Merri Weathers 02:46, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Data validator[edit]
If anyone's interesed, I've written a tool (source) to check totals and point out incorrect data. --Morkai 16:42, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
- Sounds like a nice idea, but I'd wait until February or so to use it while people fill in their totals as the numbers will change constantly. Also, we probably have enough data at this point to stop collecting it. I'm just going to combine all of my totals into one line once I open the presents. I just use Excel to verify my totals. CC Shards[edit]
Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand we are putting how many times we get shards off the gifts (10 each time, but you put the amount of times you receive shards) or the net amount of shards? Same can apply to double drops, though the shards can make a big difference in the final numberssince they drop by ten. If its the first case, then some numbers there seem a bit odd and might need a double check with the users who posted them. Beleeth 15:19, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
I just did the maths, first line has the net amount of items received noted, rather than the times the gifts dropped each item. Beleeth 15:23, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
