I think it would be too spoilorific to actually post the content of the journal, so I didn't post anything from it.

Regain journal?

Is there a way to regain journal after destroing it?

I have fought and defeated Zho 3 times after deleting the journal, she did not give me a new one. I had not completed the pet on that character.

So this journal can be used to get a black moa baby? or... what exactly is its use?

The journal is required to get the NPC to craft an Incubator Kit which eventually leads to the birth of the Chick. The contents of the journal give clues as to where to find all the materials and where to take them. While you can now find the steps online, you still need the journal to make the kit. --Thervold 18:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I just defeated Zho 3 times, and no journal was given. I suppose I can't get the Moa then hmm? Anet really needs to work out there billions of errors, there pissing me off.

Required After Getting Moa?

I have my Moa Chick, and wish to get rid of the Journal now to free up a slot in storage. Does anyone know for sure if it's required for anything else after getting the Incubator Kit? Acquiring Journal When Defeated

The Norn Fighting Tournament article remarks, at the bottom, that "after Zho is encountered for the first time (regardless of victory or defeat), you will receive Zho's Journal in your inventory". I lost to her and did not receive her journal. Either it was a bug or I'm going mad. Eldin 00:17, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

gadzooks

i deleted this infernal thing months ago, and now that i need it, i don't have it.

so.. - you can only get it once per character - it's customized per character - and you need it in your inventory to aquire the incubator?

does this mean that i can borrow a friend's journal and just talk to her with it in my pack? or is my poor character just never going to have a black fuzzy friend?

any response to this would be appreciated, this page is kinda dead by now!

No, you can't use a friend's, and as far as I know you can only get it once, however, it may be worth trying to get it again. Otherwise I'm afraid you are out of luck for a black moa chick.-- Wynthyst 10:18, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

i feel like.. it's not like arena-net to make things set in stone like this.. there's usually some way you can retrace your steps! well, that answers my question about using someone else's dedicated journal, at least. so you have to use your own customized copy, and i threw mine out? fantastic!

Best advice I can offer is to just have a different character do the whole moa chick scavenger hunt thing, then give the chick to the character who wants it when done. If you've already deleted Zho's Journal on all the characters far enough along in all the campaigns to do the scavenger hunt, well, time to start working on another character... - Tanetris 11:38, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

for not handing over the incubator when i was holding a friend's customized journal!

and screw you too, zho, because you hand out thousands of bootlegged, photocopied versions of your personal journals to anyone who faces you in boxing, but won't give me a replacement for my deleted one.

screw everyone except for my fluffy, adorable, black little bundle of love. oh, i got my moa.. but it WASN'T easy.

for anyone else out there who has done the same reprehensible thing as me, don't despair.

(spoilers ahead, i guess! watch out! hehe)

there is a way to get the mini moa for yourself, you just need alot of help. i have a friend who already has a moa chick, and had gotten through the game with another character. since alot of the items are customized, you'll need your friend to hold onto the incubator. certain items needed for the moa are customized, and some arent. the herring, for some reason, gets customized when you trade in 5 bog skales for it (a customized fish? did they write your name on it?) the nesting material is also customized, so you'll need to give the harpy wings to your friend to trade in too. the rest you can get yourself, (im not too sure about the moa egg, he had that already!) and then you can have your friend pack up the kit and go with them (or not) to cook your moa!

anyway, i'm generally displeased with arenanet about this whole thing, it's kind of a big price to pay for deleting something accidentally! but i suppose you could email them if the above isn't possible.

if you've deleted this precious item before you needed it, you have my sympathy. oh, and when you see katherine, make sure you yell at her for me. i zranked her, but she didn't seem to mind xP Aegis 04:32, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Can't get journal due to full inventory

I beat Zho once, but I had a full inventory at the time and so I didn't get the journal. Now it seems there is no way for me to get it. Zho has never appeared again in the tournament, and I tried talking to her after the update that has her give you one if you lost yours, and that didn't work. Can anyone help me? Maybe you need to defeat her again. She doesn't stop spawning after you defeat her, so you should have a roughly 1 in 5 chance to fight her every time you reach the third round. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 01:36, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

I had the same problem but after a while Zho will come back and you still can get the journal.

Geographical Classification

Both items are not the same. While this item is used on a cross-campaign quest, it is only attainable with the EotN expansion. This is not the case of the YHoT book, which can be obtained from any campaign.--Fighterdoken 22:41, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

I had the same problem but after a while Zho will come back and you still can get the journal.

Do You Have To Finish Eotn (Eye Of The North) To Face Zho In The Tournament?

Plz help! Im trying to get a black moa chick, but i can't seem to be able to face zho in the tournament, no matter how many times i go in, to get her journal. :P I haven't finished Eotn, and im starting to think they nerfed it that way. Sadly, meeting Zho in the tournament is luck of the draw. I know that it took my character more than a few attempts to face her. Fortunately, she only appears in the 3rd round, so you don't need to continue playing if she doesn't appear then.

If you have already faced her and somehow lost the Journal, talk to her henchman version in Gunnar's and see if she will give you one for free. G R E E N E R 04:23, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

You don't have to finish EotN. Also, the most common confusion I've seen is people trying to find Zho in the wrong round (as noted, it's only round 3). There are six potential foes for that round. If they are equally likely to appear, then there's a 10% chance you could go 13 rounds in a row without fighting her. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:39, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Odds

For others who don't REALLY understand what 10% means and-think-that-it-means-a-1-in-10, 1 char got zho to spawn 5 times out of 25, another on the same account just had zho spawn after 24 ATTEMPTS. A VERY expensive journal, but also got a bison cup 4 tokens and a hero. So DON'T give up! lol 17.04.12~~>H2L
