More than 1 campaign, take 2[edit]
I did a small modification to the template in order to allow 2 campaigns to be listed/categorized. Would want to make the change if there is no opposition to it within a couple days (if i remember to).
As for the changes i made, it lets us include a second campaign on the infobox/categories if the quest allows two of them, and let's us specify if both campaigns are actually required, or if it's fine with any of them (just a simple and/or really).
You can check the template at User:Fighterdoken/Sandbox/001. Further feedback is appreciated.--Fighterdoken 01:26, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- Can't we just list them as Core. I'm fine with your version too, but I don't want you to waste your time when you could be getting trolled instead. Backsword 03:58, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's incorrect to list the Wintersday quests given by Rift Warden and the Halloween quests as "Core", because an account has to have Prophecies or Nightfall to acquire those quests, so the quests are not available to characters on an account which only has Factions on it. Which would mean they aren't core quests. --Silver Edge 05:50, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, currently the phrase being used is "Multi campaign". I figure if they see that, they'd look at the page text to see what's specifically required. --JonTheMon 13:35, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
It still needs to be adjusted[edit]
There is a problem that some apparently haven't considered. Those of us that know the game know pretty much right off what the profession symbols mean, and some do make sense. However, they should not just have the profession symbol, because that can be very confusing. They should also have the profession name. 42 - talk 07:31, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- It was discussed, in considerable detail, on GWW:QUESTS and GWW:LOCATIONS. The overall consensus was to omit the name (which does appear in the hover text). --DryHumour 19:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Needs HM quest update[edit]
I have improvised something with Template:HMQuest but I think this should be an option in this template. I have absolutely no insight how this beast works, so please fill it in Roland of Gilead talk 18:34, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe version = (values are default or HM) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:54, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- A simple hardmode = y/n would suffice, with n being the default, but I'm not template- and table-wizard enough to code the layout that would result. I imagine if it is a HM quest, it should say so somewhere in the box and automatically put the page into the appropriate category (Hard mode quests). Any takers? Set default sort parameter[edit]
Any reason why this template could not have some logic to set the "defaultsort:" parameter for quests starting with "A", "An" and "The"? Only just moved over to GWwiki, so not wanna start stomping in and changing significant templates before checking if there's some reasons why this hasn't been done already. --Wolfie (talk|contribs) 02:00, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- This seems like it would be useful. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:29, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think we'd be able to do that w/o the StringFunctions extension, which I don't think has been wanted before (or wanted and rejected). --JonTheMon 21:48, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ahh, yeah according to Special:Version, ParserFunctions is installed, but shows that the string handling functionality has not been enabled. Would explain why no-ones attempted it before, without those handy string handling functions doing smart things like setting default sorts etc does become a lot uglier. :(
- Ok, well no harm in asking the question, however what would you suggest... is it better to "wake up" the Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for technical administration/ParserFunctions page to ask for clarification "why was string functions not enabled at the time?" on the discussion page or just create a new one specifically to propose they be enabled? Some other approach? --Wolfie (talk|contribs) 23:51, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- Update: Seems there was a brief discussion about the string functions here, so will start there. --Wolfie (talk|contribs) 00:09, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Daily quest prediction[edit]
The German Wiki uses templates that state the next occurence of a certain daily quest on the quest page itself. Currently we 'only' have that on the main page and if someone wants to know about the date when a quest for a certain area, mission, boss etc is available, he or she has to look that up on Daily activities.
I think we could include a parameter that checks if the quest is a daily Zaishen/Shining Blade/Vanguard quest and then shows the accordant date of appearance. If it's available right now, it could be slightly altered, e.g. show it visually with a green tango recharge icon on the top right corner of the box. —ZerphaThe Improver 12:43, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Since the wiki specifies dates/times in UTC, this would probably need to be slightly more complex to avoid the usual confusion ppls have with time zones. For example, when more than 24 hours remain until it appears again, # of days remaining (and/or the date), but when it's less than 24 hours, it would show the number of remaining hours instead. While the event is hot, the template could change the background color next to the date.– Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:16, 26 September 2011 (UTC)
- Couldn't we simply replace
#time
for#timel
to use UTC/this wiki's time? Then when {{Cycle}} gets used correctly, it should work i think. Your proposal with the background color sounds good to me, too. —ZerphaThe Improver 10:12, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Profession[edit]
On pages that display a profession in their quest infobox (e.g. Death in the Ruins and A New Necromancer Trainer), a space appears before the closing bracket. I think it's caused by {{Preq}}, but I couldn't determine what exactly is causing it to fix it myself. --Silver Edge 20:16, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- Albeit I had removed the incorrect spacing at first, the spacing was indeed the problem. - Infinite - talk 22:02, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- It's actually coming from Template:Ppri; although removing the space there is mechanically trivial, I suspect that the reason it's there is that it's used in contexts which are expecting the space, which makes me reluctant to change it lest I be beaten upon by a mob angrily seeking their now missing spaces elsewhere.... DryHumour (talk) 22:08, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, yes, I meant Template:Preq -- although I still wonder if there are other contexts that were expecting that space.... DryHumour (talk) 22:15, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, the space is now missing on the pages that {{Preq}}) displays "or" on. For example, on The Elementalist Experiment, it's missing a space between "primary" and "or" in the {{Standard prerequisites}} (which also uses {{Preq}}) and quest infobox on that page. --Silver Edge 07:00, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

- I've assumed it was easier to subst the {{preq}} template into this infobox, revert the edits to preq + not have to fix all occurences of preq outside of this infobox. --Chieftain Alex 18:17, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Hover text for {{Quest icon}}[edit]
Appears that with the new wiki-popups, the hover text explaining the icon (e.g. "repeatable" for ) no longer shows up in the tooltip. I will amend the infobox to specifically explain the icon type for repeatable and rotating quests. --Chieftain Alex 08:55, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- Changed my mind, I removed the link instead. -Chieftain Alex 09:02, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
