Because i may be gramatically wrong[edit]
I know in spanish "patron goddess" would be fine gramatically, but could someone double-check in english? XD.--Fighterdoken 19:48, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- Patron = patriarchal/male; Matron = matriarchal/female. Dwayna, being a goddess, is female. Thus, "matron goddess" would be correct. --Kheraz Zarahi 02:19, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- No. If you had taken time to read the wiki link for w:Patron, you would understand that "patron" in a religious sense comes from "patronage", meaning "the one who supports or oversees over something", which is correct in this case. "Matron" has a meaning that makes it not the right choice given the context here (meaning which would be close to what you would call the head of the dark elf hierachy, by example).
- I guess "patroness" could be a proper translation of the femenine form if you insist in using it, but "matron" is plain wrong.--Fighterdoken 20:23, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- w:Tutelary deity uses both terms, "Athena was the patron goddess (or "matron goddess")". I personally think "patron" would fit better, because matron implies motherly or matriarchal sentiments rather than support; we're going for the latter, so "patron". --
