Gwen And Now
In the weeks following the defeat of the Great Destroyer, the ranger Nathel Averias struggles with a difficult decision. He wonders whether he should leave the Eye of the North, never to return, or if he should remain. He wants to stay, but feelings of guilt plague him, lingering regrets over what happened to Gwen. She is no longer the little girl he had once known in Ascalon. Instead, she has grown into a beautiful young woman just beginning to finally let go of her pain and sorrow. Nathel blames himself for her capture by the Charr, for not being there when they found her. But at the same time, he finds himself falling in love with her. With his mind telling him one thing and his heart yearning for another, he finds respite from his dilemma in playing the flute Gwen gave him and thinking of the time they shared together in Ascalon so many years ago. But when he and Gwen are unexpectedly caught in a sudden, vicious snowstorm and forced to take shelter for the night in a small cave, Nathel finds himself unable to avoid facing his feelings any longer.
