Soren Menelik: Soren considers himself a bit of a philospher, challenging the worlds greater questions and mysteries. He is quite calm and collected, and able to focus on the task at hand with incredible devotion. Often he finds nothing more enjoyable than just to relax and ponder life's great puzzles. He was born into a poor Canthan family, his father dying shortly after his birth, and his mother struggling to make ends meet working as a merchant. After years of study she did not want to allow Soren's gifts go to waste, so she enrolled him into the Shing Jea Monastery. Soren had always been interested in spiritual and otherworldly beings, and naturally wished to become a powerful Ritualist. He studied under great minds such as Professor Gai and Ang the Ephemeral until one fateful day when he was invited to Minister Cho's Estate with Master Togo, which was a great honour he naturally accepted. When they arrived at the gates to the estate, they learnt that many of the guards had been sickened, turning into monstrous beasts. This plague was spreading like wildfire, and Soren ran to warn his mother and arrange passage off of the island to a safer location, but sadly it was too late. She had made a delivery to the estate of Minister Cho earlier that morning, and unfortunately once Soren found her she was nothing than a bulbous horrific construction of flesh. With other lives at stake and no known cure, he was forced to destroy his only remaining family member, and with one powerful incantation she was blown apart in a surge of ethreal power. Soren vowed from that day to find the source of this plague and destroy it, and any other evils that would threaten the world of Tyria or any other worlds and realms he may come across.
