Valen Demius: Valen is a cold, calculating and strategical mastermind. He tends to keep to himself and would make no hesitation sacrificing one life for the greater good. He always isolated himself from those around him, and found solice in reading aged tomes of elemental manipulation left to the family from his mother, who was a prominent Elementalist in the guild Ascalon's Chosen (His father was a Warrior of the Ascalon Vanguard). Sadly, Valen never knew his mother, and these tomes were his last link to her. She was whisked away by an unknown force when he was very young, and his father would get very emotional at even the mention of such events. Valen wanted to follow in his parents' footsteps, and so he chose to pursue a life as an Elementalist, and wished to one day join the Ascalon Vanguard. He spent many of his days listening to the musings of Ralena Stormbringer and Elementalist Aziure, wishing to expand his knowledge of the elements. After much dedication he achieved this goal and travelled with Prince Rurik to stop Vatlaaw Doomtooth, only to lose someone who inspired him to work toward his goals during The Searing. His father was burnt alive by the Charr, and his home crushed by a large crystal projectile used by the Charr during their Searing ritual. From that day he vowed revenge on all who oppose him, and has left a trail of both destruction and valor behind him as he fought whatever evils lurk in the depths of Tyria, ranging anywhere from Undead Lords, Envoys, and even Dark Gods.
