Motive[edit]
User_talk:Andrew_Patrick#More_Rewards
I have been leader of an alliance for a year and a half, and while in that position many guild leaders have come to me for advice because they are in a very common situation: They are a mainly pve guild, who does not like ha or ta because it is very hostile to inexperienced players in the style, but it happens that some members (and almost always officials) around 4 or 5 wants to try gvg, but they cant find the rest to create a group because the others just reply "I dont receive anything while doing gvg" (I refer to them when i say pve-grinders). This proposal has the intention to help those guilds to feed that grind hunger so they are willing to try gvg, they receive an incentive and if they like they become a pve-gvg guild.
Similarly, I am leader of a guild which has been doing gvg semi-regularly more than a year from now. We are usually between 300-700 rank (however we are ~1200 now because of vacations and then gwen xD) we did over 600 gvgs from january to june. But still we consider ourselves "casual players" because we dont take it too seriusly because we dont like the things you have to do to become a top guild, we like to give opportunity to new recruits, we rotate people so anyone can play etc. Anyway, we have a lot of invested hours there, yes they are fun and because of that worthy. But we have been given nothing to prove what we did, or rewarded in any way. Aux is not a reward anymore since anyone can buy aux directly, champion is far from us, and actually we did manage to get reward points at ATS in the beggining when you restricted it to stable guilds (sadly something very scarce), but since you open the ATS to have only 4 guild members, high end pugs find their way in we cant have those rewards anymore. Because of that, sometimes we have difficulty finding more players to share gvg with us.
Objective[edit]
Reward more Gvg players by making the Champion title more accesible , while mantaining the high tiers exclusive to constant players on top guilds.
Current situation[edit]
The current champion title is extremely exclusive, there is no reward for the main gvg players. The gladiator title suffers the same problem, but it has been adressed and a solution is being cooked. Its main goal is to make lower ranks of gladiator title accesible while maintaining the prestige in high ranks. The champion title needs the same change.
Design Guidelines[edit]
- Every gvg win should earn champion points.
- As your rating is higher you should earn more champion points.
- You should earn more champion points if you beat a guild with more rating than you.
Proposal 1[edit]
Reduce the rating needed to get champion points to be greater than 1000 (instead of the current 1200). Since the rate of points earned by high end guilds will increase very little there is no need to adjust the title track table.
Proposal 2[edit]
With a Gvg win you earn champion points depending to your current rating and the rating change derivated by the battle using the following formula:
Where:
Champ = Champion points earned by each player.
RC = The Rating change your guild earned.
R = The Rating your guild was before the battle.
This formula yields to the following graphs:
Or you can look for values in the following table:
As you can see, while your Rating auments also your points earned. And if you manage to win versus better rating guilds you earn more points. Furthermore, because in tournaments your RC is a lot greater those battles will be more rewarded, that way high end gvg guilds will earn a lot of extra points and tournaments will be encouraged.
Since the rate of points earned by high end guilds will increase a lot, there will be a need to adjust the title track table. This is also important to give current holders a fair reward for their past effort.
Title track table adjust[edit]
As it happened to gladiator's then current points must be multiplied by a constant.
I propose the following numbers (but i dont have data to backup the proposal).
With the new system high end guilds will be earning around 30 champion points instead of 1, but since the window is greater (all guilds count not only 1200+) then they will be earning more. Furthermore there is the extra tournament points.
Then:
Updating Current Title Holders:
- Multiply current player points by 50.
- Multiply each rank by 30.
Proposal 2 table
Tier Title Victories 1 Champion 750 2 Fierce Champion 1500 3 Mighty Champion 3000 4 Deadly Champion 5040 5 Terrifying Champion 8,400 6 Conquering Champion 13,980 7 Subjugating Champion 22,650 8 Vanquishing Champion 37,800 9 King's Champion 64,800 10 Emperor's Champion 108,000 11 Balthazar's Champion 180,000 12 Legendary Champion 300,000
Advantages conclusion[edit]
- Gvg gameplay will be highly encouraged because the title is available to anyone. Even for pve grinders which may start like it but can finish as pvp lovers (I have seen many being through that transformation).
- Current gvg players will be highly better rewarded, I mean, they will start being rewarded for their time.
- High End gvg guild will be rewarded fairer because points are more adjusted to their rating and adjusted to the enemy rating. Also because the main point attraction will come in tournaments wich are more competitive.
- Tournaments will be highly encouraged not only because overall gvg is, but also because points will be greater there.
- Smurfs will be highly discouraged because a guild being able to gain around 20 points per win on their former guild, will only win around 2 or 3 on a smurf.
Notes[edit]
- If there happens to be enough arguments for no touching the current champion title, there is the option to implement a complete new title which can be named "Guild Defender" or whatever name fits anet.
- This update should be accompanied by a ladder clean up update, which is not neccesarily the same as a ladder reset.
