Condensed History[edit]
When I was 16, I came across GW entirely on accident (I was boredly browsing through GameStop.com one day and found it under "coming soon"). I thought it to be a single player medieval-type game and decided to try it out. Back then, I had a crappy computer (256 RAM/Dial up connection) so it took quite some time to load, but I was hooked after playing it for a day. It was my first online game and when I found out there was other people playing online as well, I was somewhat shocked lol.
At 17, I continued playing alone until 04/30/05 when I met guildleader Maalpi Newfounder and joined The Nefarious Angels [TNA]. It was a moderately sized guild with friendly members and TeamSpeak and a great leader. I would play once or twice a week and took somewhat long breaks, since I traveled a lot during that time. Sadly, the guild went inactive while I was gone on one of my breaks. Upon coming back at 18, I found that I was an officer and all guild members had been inactive for quite some time. I tried reviving the guild as an officer, but it was too hard without having a leader around, so I decided to wait until GW designated me leader. After 3 months, I was made leader and began rebuilding and dedicating myself to the guild, and the first thing I did was kick everybody but Maalpi. I decided I would take care of the guild until he came back.
When rebuilding, I put the guild before myself, and as a result, I was never able to play for myself much, but it was worth it when the people I helped went on to become officers in my guild or other guilds and help other players as I had helped them. I rebuilt the guild from the ground up with the help of excellent members and officers and by early 2006, we had a large active guild and alliance with people from all around the world and different walks of life. We mainly focused on having fun and did everything together as an alliance. I considered the guild to be a familial unit and myself as the dad. But sadly, as time went on, I lost all but a few of the officers and members that had helped me rebuild TNA.
At 19, my interest was slowly declining, but I kept at it in hopes that Maalpi would come back. Finally, near the end of 2007, Maalpi did come back and was well recieved. Everybody that had ever been or was in TNA was PMing him, praising him, and whatnot. As a surprise to everyone, I asked Maalpi to take back TNA, but he declined the offer. I had never really wanted to be leader, but I couldn't resign leadership since the guild wouldn't have any leader but me, and so I stayed and had Maalpi make me the official leader of the guild and not just designated as such.
Over time, the guild began declining. I tried reviving on several occasions, but my interest was all but dead and was thinking of retiring anyway. In early 2008, Super Smash Brothers Brawl was released so I got myself a copy and took a week off from the game. Upon coming back, I found a dead guild with most of my officers and members gone. To this day, I still haven't a straight story, but I took it as a challenge and again set off to rebuild the guild with renewed interest. In 2 days, my few remaining officers and I managed to bring our numbers back up and join an great alliance, and for a time, things were good. Then one day, one of the new officers kicked Maalpi and all hell broke loose...
After losing Maalpi, I closed the guild off, left the alliance, and spent time thinking about whether to keep going or quitting. At 20, I chose the former and on 06/20/08, we opened our doors again and began rebuilding. Since then, we've been doing alright and have joined another alliance made up of former guild members. We are still rebuilding and trying to regain our former glory, but like the first rebuilding, it'll take time.
In progress.
To be continued...
