Soldiers of Thunderstorm [SoT]
Member Information
Meet the stormbringing army!
Handle: Denis Mesmer (Denis)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: Half-Life 1-2, Space Rangers 2, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Gothic 1-3, Lineage II, World of Warcraft.
PvP or PvE: I am definitely a PvP sort of Gamer! My passion leans towards GvG battles since I get the best adrenal rush while playing against other PvP guilds that share in my GvG enthusiasm. Every now and then I relax and play one of the PvE Campaigns or run around with my friends in the Eye of the North expansion.
Favorite profession: Mesmer. I just love running all the 'Shut Down' builds that the Mesmer profession has to offer. Lately though, I have been yoked with the task of leading the SoT GvG efforts. This position in our guild often requires me to embrace one of the Melee Professions since party management is best accomplished by those 'Front Line' character types. Although I definitely have a preference for Mesmers, running a strong melee build and going toe-to-toe with the enemy is also very exciting!
Position in the Guild: Guild Master, GvG Squad Leader
Reason for Joining: Combining forces just seemed like the best thing to do! I managed the Russian PvP guild War Project [WaR] when we met the members of the [SoT] guild. It soon became apparent that joining forces would benefit everyone interested in achieving our mutual goal of becoming the best European GvG guild in the game! Over time, we have not only created a skilled unit of PvP Patriots, but have bonded into 'Real Life' friends and confidants as well! A 'Win-Win' scenario in any event!
Handle: Light Friend (Andrew)
Location: Magdeburg, Germany
Gaming Background: Warcraft 3, CS, Diablo 2, Starcraft, Q2/3, Gothic.
PvP or PvE: Guess what... GvG ;)
Favorite profession: Warrior
Primary/preferred character: Ranger/Mesmer
Position in the Guild: Ex-Guild Master, Advising Officer
From the past gaming life: I started my involvement in computer gaming as a club Starcraft and Quake 2 player, and then I turned to Counter-Strike, also checking up every other PvP-based title that's been interesting enough to deserve my attention. In case of Guild Wars, I've been actively engaged in the competitive aspect of the game from the early days of its release.
Reason for Joining: SoT has been presenting itself as a steadfast PvP guild since its foundation. It's been an important factor for me, as anything that requires farming or extensive grind doesn't keep my nod for more than a few weeks.
Handle: Smoke Nightvogue (Dmitri)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: Mortal Kombat 1-2-3-4, Dune 1, Warcraft 2, Dark Legions, Duke Nukem, Command & Conquer, C&C: Red Alert, Diablo (the best item collector), Unreal Tournament, Starcraft (top 600 in 1998), Total Annihilation, C&C: Tiberian Sun (top 50 solo ladder), Dune 2000, Fallout 2, Counter Strike, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3: TFT, Guild Wars Alpha and tons of other stuff that would steal a page.
Favorite aspect of Guild Wars: For PvE it's having fun by tanking Shiro on my Legendary Survivor character without quitting the game after Meditation of the Reaper. Try this dice, it's worth every second. And, if you've pressed F12, know that you didn't pass the test and stop taking the game too seriously :) On the PvP belt, it's running the spell casting builds that use the three different types of character attributes spent equally so that all specified types of magic work efficiently.
The most notable gaming incident: Meeting James Phinney for the first time to find out he fluently speaks Bulgarian :)
PvP or PvE: Both, if you don't rush too much... I wonder if mad Assassins hear me :)
The most sacred GW dream: Holding the Hall of Heroes with a party of level 28 Mursaat for 12 hours.
Favorite profession: Monk/Elementalist with fast-healing builds such as WoH/Infuse.
Admired skill: Glyph of Lesser Energy (still disagree about that nerf).
Funniest Thing in a Pug Group: "Hey, watch out for Chinese gangsters!" (a shout someone did before we engaged a huge Jade Brotherhood group in GW: Factions).
Primary/preferred character: Any Monks in charge of defending the base.
Position in the Guild: GW squad founder, officer & community leader.
Reason for Joining: I've seen how that team was born in 1998, and in the beginning of 2004, I've started building the plans for the upcoming clan's expansion into the world of Guild Wars. I think it's a very cool game and it perfectly feeds my gaming needs.
Handle: Skapster (Artyom)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: Counter-Strike, Tiberian Sun, Unreal Tournament, Lineage II.
PvP or PvE: I've examined closely every piece of the game and have found the PvP part to be the most exciting for me, especially GvG's.
Preferred Character: For two years of my Guild Wars experience, I've mastered a lot of profession builds and combos, so I can practically handle just any build, in spite of my taste for performing the role of a Warrior.
Position in the Guild: Officer, TS joy supplier & witty fellow.
Reason for Joining: Actually, I've been dreaming about joining Soldiers of Thunderstorm from the moment I began playing, as it was famous for its PvP background. Thus, after obtaining some experience on the PvP side of Guild Wars, I've came into contact with the members of SoT and became a player of the primary PvP team soon enough.
Handle: Great Skeeve (Nail')
Location: Ufa, Russia
Gaming Background: Strategy, FPS, RPG's and some MMO's.
PvP or PvE: I've played through all of the available Guild Wars content, though I'm certain that GvG is its coolest and the most interesting part.
Preferred Character: I can play any profession, yet my primary choice is the Mesmer, as I tend to love hexes and insidious interrupts.
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason for Joining: I joined SoT two years ago as it's been one of the fewest Russian guilds biased towards professional GvG play with faction farming & close-knit relationships among.
Handle: A F K (Alex)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: Gothic, Total War and Heroes of M&M series.
PvP or PvE: I prefer PvP, however only in the form of GvG's. Back to the good old GW: Prophecies Beta times, I've been an avid Tombs (HA) player, though it's all ended with the removal of Rift Wardens and the replacement of a few of the original maps. Since then I've started considering Heroes' Ascent only a ghostly shadow of a once glorious tournament. Perhaps I'll revisit it one day, who knows... At this time, the source of my delight between GvG's lies in farming the high-end items with my friends in PvE.
Favorite profession: For melee classes it's the Warrior and amongst the spell caster professions, the Mesmer.
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason for Joining: By the time of Guild Wars World Preview Event, there hasn't been a vast variety of Russian guilds to join. In fact, only two of them: SoT and RUS Corp. The first one seemed more ambitious and energetic to me, and that's been the reason behind my choice. On top of that, I have to say that even with all those obstacles and difficulties we've met on our way, it's still a great pleasure for me to stay here, because of the playas around and the way they do.
Handle: Maxtor Busher (Max)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: FPS - Q3, Arcade - Trackmania Nations, Test Drive Unlimited, Action RPG - Diablo 2, Turn-Based Strategy - Heroes of Might and Magic III and V.
PvP or PvE: I'm a PvP-only player, admiring Random Arenas and GvG's.
Favorite profession: All melee damage dealers and ranged interrupters. My favorite skill technique is using "Shadow step" for dealing a fast and unexpected damage.
Reason for Joining: My friend's been playing here so I've been invited to join. So far, I've been an officer of SoT for more than a year.
Handle: Tish Flexes (Kirill)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: I like FPS (CS, UT, Q3/Q4) and RPG's (Gothic/The Elder Scrolls/NwN), but currently I'm focused on GW.
PvP or PvE: Both. I'm a PvP fan, yet I dislike 4v4 PvP matches (RA/TA/AB). Therefore, between GvG's I prefer relaxing with a little PvE action or taking part in Hero Battles as an alternate source of entertainment.
Favorite profession: My favorite profession is the Monk and my favorite attribute is Protection Prayers with lowly mana cost, yet very effective elite skills.
Reason for Joining: It's just convenient for me to play here, the perfect time zone and friendly environment of competitive-minded players!
Handle: Fea Fatale (Oxana)
Location: Saratov, Russia
Gaming Background: UO: Renaissance, Diablo 2, Neverwinter Nights, Warcraft III, World of Warcraft.
PvP or PvE: Currently PvP only, just as I rarely have time or desire to get into PvE.
Favorite profession: It depends. I've started with a Mesmer and still admire that profession, though at present I'm usually playing as an Ele. The Necromancer has also been my choice for a while - both in PvP and PvE.
Reason for Joining: Since I realized I have no time to keep up my own guild and started to look for another one, I came to conclusion it should be Russian. I've checked the forums of all Russian guilds, well-known and absolutely new ones, and this guild seemed different to me, kind of special. SoT was one of the first guilds I heard about when I started playing GW, yet, I never thought I would get in. So far, after a year of playing I applied to join and got an invitation soon. Time shows that was a right choice, and SoT turned to be the guild I've always wanted my own to look like.
Handle: Tordon DNK (Alexander)

Gaming Background: Indigo Prophecy, C&C: Red Alert 2, C&C: Tiberian Sun, Counter-Strike, Warcraft 3: TFT, Space Rangers 1-2, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Gothic 1-3, Evil Islands.
PvP or PvE: After an extended investment of my time in the fabulous PvE environment of Guild Wars, I decided to broaden my gaming horizon and see what the PvP aspects of the game had to offer. This experimental foray into PvP has blossomed and captivated my interest in the most exciting and fulfilling manner! The competitive tension and sense of belonging achieved while playing with comrades in arms is something I look forward to each and every time I login!
Favorite profession: Monk… Feel the LUV! This is the Profession that I first embraced and still play on a daily basis! I believe that the more you enjoy running the various builds of a specific Guild Wars profession, the better the results will be. I have dabbled with the other great professions available in-game, but they only made me realize that I am simply a 'Natural Born Healer' at heart!
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason for Joining: After I realized just how much I enjoyed the Guild Wars PvP side of the game, my previous PvE guild failed to satisfy my PvP craving and I was fortunate enough to fall in with the members of the SoT Guild! If PvP were a drug then the SoT Guild is where I get my daily 'fix'… that’s me, a Guild Wars PvP Addict!
Handle: One Night One Euro (Arich)
Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan
Gaming Background: Fallout, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Lineage II, World of Warcraft.
PvE or PvP: PvP FTW! The Game Developers created a masterpiece with the ever changing PvP areas that Guild Wars provides its players! Unlike the 'Grind' for items, titles and the repetitive nature often found in other games' PvE campaigns, the PvP format that Guild Wars has installed remains fresh and exciting due to the robust stable of character professions and the well-balanced skills available for use by players around the world!
Favorite profession: Monk
Position in the Guild: GvG Flag Runner
Reason for Joining: I act well when given a precisely timed objective with a team that is working to accomplish a particular task together as a single entity. Such an environment builds a bond with those that share in the challenge and the excitement created with success in such a competitive field! The Soldiers of Thunderstorm guild provides me all this and more, and I proudly wear their colors on the field of battle!
Handle: Fon Rengler (Mike)

Gaming Background: Warcraft III, Counter-Strike, Hitman: Blood Money, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Favorite aspects of the game: I played Guild Wars for almost two years and in the beginning of my adventures the PvE aspect of the game, especially UW Ecto farming, was the first serious thing to advance from. After earning a solid in-game fortune, the next step I took was towards watching the PvP games demonstrated in the Observer Mode, the ones that were taking place in Heroes' Ascent particularly. I have fallen under a pretty much accurate impression that if one wants to increase his gaming skill or acquire additional tactics for the team's behavior on the fields of battle, he has to watch the top PvP battles a lot. This summer, I have specially focused my sight on obtaining enough knowledge for performing the role of a caller in Heroes' Ascent battles and have recently succeeded on this position by letting my guild capture The Hall of Heroes multiple times. I tend to try a lot of stuff for the games we play, including our famous Ranger spike, though it is my strong belief that the balanced and hex-pressure builds are the most efficient setups to hold the Halls these days, and when arranging the team, the first thing that comes to my attention is how every person in the party understands the build, rather than how many farmed fame points they have.
Favorite professions: Warrior and Mesmer.
Position in the Guild: Officer, Heroes' Ascent caller, sometimes a jolly flooder.
Reason for Joining: I came to SoT from the War Project [WaR] guild, where I've been learning the things I and my friends are bringing to life in SoT today. Besides cyber-gaming, I've got a great passion for another, real life sport - swimming, so I can proudly state that the HoH drops aren't the only rewards I've had the pleasure to collect :) And, as any long-term Guild Wars player, I've tried taking a break from the game and even quitting it a few times, but I was coming back, because of all the friends surrounding me and the wish to keep the game real, you can't just deny the fact that it rocks! :)
Handle: Fiery Empress (Alexander)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: I love RPG's the most of all, Gothic 1-2-3 and The Elder Scrolls in particular. Generally, I'd put my hands on any RPG built with a balanced economy in mind. I also wouldn't hesitate playing some 3D action shooters like Quake 4, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Prey, etc, but it's no doubt one of my most beloved games is Guild Wars.
PvP or PvE: I'm specializing in both fields, being an expert in PvE. However, at these days I tend to spend more time in PvP rather than PvE, as for the latter, I've achieved everything I could have dreamed before.
Favorite profession: My favorite profession is Elementalist as I've always loved playing mages because of their capability of toasting the enemies from a distant range with their microwave blasts of burning magma or the clapping thunders hammering the foes into the floor ;)
Primary/preferred character: Elementalist/Monk
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason for Joining: I like this place with all the joyful folks around as I've got absolutely no obstacles for having decent fun in PvP, along with a little bit of PvE.
Handle: I Just Ari I (Maxim)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: One of the genres that suits me the most is RPG's (Neverwinter Nights/Planescape), and I also love strategies and shooters, such as Unreal Tournament.
In-game past-times: I've started my career of Guild Wars PvP player in the guild named I Its Just A Game I [hf], where I've been playing as Monk and Mesmer in GvG's and Ritualist/Ranger or Necro/Monk in Heroes' Ascent battles, which were the guild's specialty.
PvP or PvE: In fact, I've got tired of PvE approximately a year ago - unlike PvP, which has absolutely captured my heart. Heroes' Ascent and GvG battles are my "home sweet home" :) There, I've spent a lot of time with my friends mastering multiple builds and enjoying the game. Amongst my brightest memories are the 6v6 Heroes' Ascent battles played with [hf], a guild that's been the first to develop a stable Spiritway build after the changes made to HA party size.
Favorite profession: Oddly enough, it's the Ranger, yet I'm mostly requested to come as a Monk because of my swift reaction and broad experience of playing that profession.
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason for Joining: I always wanted to join that team, and it's not letting me down. There, I've came into contact with many interesting people, and mostly important, the friends who could support me in any troublesome situation.
Handle: Last Intacto (Eugene)
Location: Krasnodar, Russia
Gaming Background: Omikron: The Nomad Soul, Anachronox, Jagged Alliance 2, Guild Wars, Counter-Strike, Lineage 2.
PvP or PvE: 99% of my time is spent in PvP, with the most recent emphasis placed on farming fame in Heroes' Ascent using a widespread set of popular builds in my urge towards getting the 6th rank, as for the last two years I've been rather a GvG-oriented player than persistent Tombs farmer. I also do favor 4vs4 Arenas - they're cool to try the new things out. Besides that, I'm never skipping an opportunity to help my own or the allied guilds in GvG, as my current role in the guild is being a substitutive player coming to replace someone from the core team.
Favorite professions: I've been always playing a Mesmer, though my pick is Elementalists these days as they're more sought after in HA.
Reason for Joining: Two years ago, when I've joined this guild, it's been one out of two Russian PvP guilds around, and up to this day, I'm quite satisfied with my choice. Here, I've learned a lot of competition-related things, and I'm grateful to Light Friend and many of my present & past guildmates for that.
Handle: Far Sa (Alexander)
Location: Moscow, Russia
Gaming Background: Heroes of Might and Magic III, Guild Wars.
PvP or PvE: What I'm usually playing consists of 90% PvP such as GvG's, Heroes' Ascent and 4vs4 Arenas, nevertheless I'm positive about passing the difficult Hard Mode missions such as Thunderhead Keep or Hell's Precipice.
Favorite profession: Monk, another Monk & Monk again (imagine them dancing around the fire :) I've been the lead healer of the team during the GvG's we've played in the last two years. For those of you who aren't into PvP yet, in brief words it means that you're always going with the attack group and are greatly responsible for the outcome of what the main part of the crew does.
Position in the Guild: Officer
Reason of Joining: I simply like SoT's outlook on online things and believe we've got a bright future, such as the celebration of 10 years of the clan in May of 2008 here in Moscow. If you're interested in joining us, have a chat with our officers, and who knows - you might be the next member of the team.
