Weaponsmiths are very much lackluster - especially the one that's purchasable in the Guild Hall. I propose a couple changes to make them better, and will devote a section solely for our friend occupying space in our halls.
Customization[edit]
First things first. The main purpose of these guys is to customize weapons. And that's all nice and dandy... if the weapon's martial. Otherwise, it sucks. And you can't even customize off-hands. Not only that, but what if you find a better weapon and you want to sell it? Or move it to a different character? Guess what, can't! As such, I propose a three changes to this functionality - all only accessible via the weaponsmiths (as opposed to customizing via the HoM or getting /bonus weapons).
Different customization effects[edit]
Currently, anything customized gets a +20% damage. That's nice, but worthless for staffs and wands. And focuses and shields can't even be customized. So I suggest a simple change:
Staff, focus, and wand: +10% faster casting rate Focus: +5 energy Shield: +10% chance to block
Reason for these: A shield should be capable of blocking. You shouldn't need a skill to do it for you, so this adds a bit of luck with the foes. For the others, I couldn't really think of something which would be both helpful to all casters and not abused, so suggestions on altering that are welcomed.
I chose the numbers I did to keep them uninfluencial while beneficial.
Account-based customization[edit]
A lot of people would like to remove customization. IMO, that's a bit drastic to do, though not unreasonable to want. Instead, I'd like to give to "re-customize." That is, if a weapon is customized to one character, another character of the same account can take said weapon to a weaponsmith and have it customized to the second character.
This would also work on weapon dedicated to the Hall of Monuments (and /bonus weapons but there'd be no point to re-customizing those).
Inscribing[edit]
This is mainly for the Prophecies and Factions weapons out there. This suggestion would be to remove effects that'd be normal inscriptions and in turn make the weapon inscribable.
Guild Hall NPC[edit]
This guy is lacking. Hugely. As such, I'd suggest to give him the above, and some weapons to craft. But not just any weapons. I'd like to suggest him having the ability to craft one weapon skin per type that's available currently only from Tolkano.
Likewise, I'd like to give him the ability to craft caster weapons which are limited to one profession's attribute.
And to even things out between caster weapons and non-caster weapons, I'd possibly toss in some hard-to-get but not "specially hard" weapons (stuff on par to the Ascalon Razor).
