This build intent is to support your group in Alliance Battles by keeping the caster NPCs interrupted and giving the melee NPCs a 50% chance to miss as well as snaring them. It also works reasonably well against enemy players as both a supportive and an offensive build with the elite spot open for one-target damage spells and Maelstrom being able to keep enemy players interrupted.
Attributes and Skills[edit]
Template code

- Mind Freeze - For an additional one-target snare, keeping the enemy at 10% movement speed instead of 34%. Make sure not to spam this spell as it causes exhaustion.
- Shatterstone - For one-target damage, if you use this spell try to hit with Ice Spikes at the same time the second damage kicks off for a spike. Switch from the 40/40 set for better timing reliability.
- Water Trident - To piss off enemy players with knockdowns (also helps with keeping them in Maelstrom) and for spammable one-target damage. This is what I usually take.
Equipment[edit]
- Survivor Insignias and three Vitae runes
- 20/20 wand and focus (normal set)
- Defense sets of choise
- +15/-1 wand and focus (high energy set)
- Optional weapon of Enchanting to equip before using Armor of Mist
Usage[edit]
- Maintain Water Attunement for energy management.
- When encountering NPC casters cast Glyph of Lesser Energy followed by Maelstrom and Ice Spikes, for damage and to keep them in place.
- When encountering NPC warriors or rangers fire off Ice Spikes and Blurred Vision whenever they are ready.
- When encountering enemy player casters, start by firing off Maelstrom and Ice Spikes in either order. Some players will begin to move as soon as Maelstrom hits, making casting Ice Spikes afterwards less useful. Other players won't begin moving until a couple of seconds after Maelstrom hits, making casting Ice Spikes first less effective as it will be about to end. It's up to you in which order to cast, but note that the majority of players will wait a second or two before trying to move after a Maelstrom. Keep spamming Ice Spikes until Maelstrom is up again, then rinse and repeat.
- When encountering enemy player rangers or melee classes, just keep spamming Ice Spikes and Blurred Vision whenever they're up.
- Use Mystic Regeneration when needed for keeping you alive.
- Use Armor of Mist as an "I need to get out of here fast!"-spell, or simply just to move faster between shrines. It can also be used to gain additional armor and healing from Mystic Regeneration if you are under attack.
Counters[edit]
- Regular anti-caster effects, like dazed, interrupts, etc.
- Enchant-removal affects your healing, your run-spell and can affect your energy management if you spam spells heavily.
Variants[edit]
- Replace Ice Spikes with Deep Freeze for a slightly less spammable, but larger and longer lasting AoE snare.
- Replace Ice Spikes with Freezing Gust for a spammable, but single-target snare.
