My goals

(1) Acknowledgement that *formal* consensus is important when overriding/changing something actually covered in the style guides.

(2) Acknowledgement that such consensus had not been reached.

(3) Get apologies from people who went forward with the changes despite (1)/(2).

(4) Invite the greater discussion from the community.

(5) Restore the wiki to the original (and arguably proper) status quo.
