Wiki Stuff.[edit]

This project is going to take a lot of work on things that aren't necessarily related to game balance at all; the project itself is also going to need attention. All the wiki stuff needed to keep this project working smoothly can be found in this section.

Balance Stuff.[edit]

The Professions.[edit]

This is where most of the change will take place. Everything regarding each profession, from their gear to their skills, is in this section.
The Professions section is largely superficial - it's balance on the surface. Though the game can be effectively balanced by, say, adjusting every weapon skill to account for its irremovability, it may or may not be able to fix issues as deep-rooted as, say, lifesteal ignoring all forms of protection.
I recommend this section for everyone, regardless of any sort of balance experience. Call it the shallow end.

The Games.[edit]

Some game types include issues that cannot be addressed by changes to skills alone. Perhaps a specific NPC in a game type needs to be changed, or one of the objectives, or the placement of things about the map. For example, any and every AoE spell is imba in JQ, the fact that shrines change over whenever the NPCs die is silly, and the objective is arguably one of the most poorly thought-out in the game. No skill change or mechanic change will fix that; only a change to JQ itself can solve those problems.
Unlike the Professions section, I don't recommend that everyone adjust everything here. Please limit contributions here to those regarding game types that you play or observe regularly and on a competitive level. If you've never played or observed a round of JQ, ever, then you'd do well to avoid saying "Buff the turtles!".

The Mechanics.[edit]

This is the base on which everything else functions. Changes here will affect many things (changing the "hex" mechanic to completely disable hex stacking, for example, would be pretty major), and so should be carefully thought out, as they affect not only what happens in the game, but also how the game itself works.
Mechanics include anything that define a type of something, typically. Hexes are a type of spell. Spells are a type of skill. Skills are a type of action that can be taken by a character - all of them fit in this section.
