E/Me JQ Carrier Tormentor[edit]
For Jade Quarry. To snare and kill carriers. Not for capping mines.

Options:
- Replace Armor of Mist with Storm Djinn's Haste if capping yellow first is not a priority and you want a faster recharging IMS.
- Replace Ice Prison with Energy Blast for faster carrier kill (switch to high energy set when appropriate to maximize damage).
Equipment[edit]
- Superior Vigor, Pyromancer set (depends on what the other side runs). Add runes (attunement, vitae, etc) to taste.
- 40/40 Illusion set
- HCT/HRT and HCT/15 energy set (mid energy Illusion set)
- High energy set
- Defensive sets
Usage[edit]
- Rapidly Activate and Cancel Second Wind till exhaustion is half bar or more. You MUST have high exhaustion to be effective! Maintain exhaustion at half bar (offense mode) or more when attacked (60 exhaustion = 300HP heal).
- Use Armor of Mist to try to capture Yellow Quarry before the other side. Then head to the enemy's near side quarry and cast Ice Prison on their carrier, cover with conjure nightmare and phantasm, followed by accumulated pain. Wand or repeat the degen till dead. A single set of 13 seconds degen+ deep wound is not enough to kill a carrier. Carriers respawn quite fast (15 or 20 seconds?). If Yellow is captured, go snare and attempt to kill the yellow carrier.
- Do not kill or snare returning carriers with no slabs. Snare empty carriers that are advancing to mines, but do not kill them (cover snare with phantasm - not lethal).
- Avoid mobs - if there are way too many enemies (they are killing you too fast), harass a carrier somewhere else. If there are many but they are not killing you fast it means your team has fewer to deal with and should do better unless they are bots or very bad.
- Snaring of carriers slows down enemy scoring even if the carriers don't die.
- Use Distortion to pass longbow guard posts or block assassins/rangers/etc.
- Use Distortion to remove Wastrels if mesmer has WW/WD+backfire on you or is good at interrupting.
- Use Second Wind to self heal or get energy.
- Cancel skills to bait interrupts.
Counters[edit]
- One good mesmer
- Two high dps/KD enemies, or three or more mid dps enemies.
- Does not work if other side is full of Mo/P and your side is full of bots.
Variations[edit]
Replace water skills with Clumsiness and Storm Djinn's Haste for FA Kurzick side- clumsiness allows you to capture FA mines faster (and help your side against assasins, rangers etc). No substitute for being a good monk, but can be fun. e.g.

- Replace Clumsiness with Energy Blast to help in spikes (GvG/HA).
- Replace Clumsiness/Imagined Burden with interrupt for split to kill NPCs.
