Hadrian Stinger - named so for the manner in which he uses a bow - followed a somewhat smooth road to where he is now. Or at least it would have been were it not for one particular encounter in Shing Jea...
Stinger visited the island to help a friend who had got himself involved in Crimson Skull business - a task which led him to run into one of the monastery's most promising Necromancy students: "Doctor" Kunio Yagami. Yagami, believing Stinger to be working with the Skulls, promptly attacked the Ranger, summoning a small army of minions from some Skull corspes behind him. In the time it had taken the Necromancer to summon his undead squad, Stinger had already prepared several flaming arrows, which were now aimed in Yagami's direction. Although none of the arrows had hit him when Stinger opened fire, the explosions sent him falling to the ground, face-first and destroyed his minions. In spite of his clear victory, he had not realised that one of those minions has managed to get a shot in before the arrows hit.
The wounded Ranger was lucky to have survived. Hours later, he had awoken to find himself in the monastery, his wound completely healed. He soon learned that he had been found by and brought to the monastery where Monks had tended to his injuries. Yagami was fine, if feeling like several Tengu had stepped on his head.
If anything, the whole incident has taught them both the same thing: exercise caution in future, something Stinger has been doing to this day.
