Discussion Points[edit]
Some of these are the same point from the other side. Sorry for the repeats, wanted to make sure all were covered properly.
Discussion Point
|
Counterpoint and/or support point/Good or bad
|
Linking to metawiki table help page on GWW help page
|
- Work on table guide already done (42)
- Contains links not wanted because external to GWW(wyn)
- Too detailed (wyn and pling)
- adds another resource for people who are helping documentation - Made under another subpoint further down(42)
- new users find too much detail intimidating(wyn)
- (new point made on this page) new users not likely to try to take on tables (42)
|
creating barebones guide
|
- work already done by someone else (metawiki table guide) is wasted (42)
- information repeated, and requires the work already done to be repeated (42)
- simple for basic users (wyn and poke)
- insufficient information on barebones guide, sufficient information already on metawiki guide (42)
- potential for more hack jobs because of insufficient information (42)
|
argument against having link on help page
|
- not having prominent link means potential users have to go hunting for information, help information you can't find isn't helpful (42)
- already linked on another page (wyn) pointless argument as many pages have multiple link points (42)
|
having help listed prominently
|
- easier to find, easier to make use of, end result, helps sysops by users being able to learn how to do, and take on more stuff (42)
- haven't seen any arguments specifically against this point, other than what help I am trying to have listed
|
using specific sections from metawiki guide (if it is even possible)
|
- allows only specific sections needed to be applied to GWW guide, saving already done work and examples (42)
- contains links not wanted on GWW (wyn)
- any unneeded/disputed information and tags can be made reference to (42)
