I pity your thin skin and need for attention from ANet and/or us. --JonTheMon 04:48, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm more concerned about his inability to write anything funny. Trolls are supposed to amuse me, damnit. Vili 05:37, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- I actually thought it was pretty funny and no we aren't the same IP. You took the time to comment on his page so what does that say about your thin skin and need for attention...really. Its about damn time people started speaking their minds. 76.20.238.253 16:26, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- You are welcome to speak your mind on any fansite forum, or register a name and speak your mind in your userspace. The kind of drivel that is being posted on the Community wide pages does not benefit this community. Also, this wiki is hosted by a company, so there is not guarantee of 'free speech' either implied, or intended. -- Wyn 16:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Was that comment for my benefit? If it was its in the wrong place. I don't think you'll see the IP whos talk page we are on again although I could be wrong. 76.20.238.253 16:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's common practice to keep conversations in one place, to maintain context, so yes, that was in reply to your post. -- Wyn 17:00, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- In that case, I'll respond here. You don't run the wiki so it's not your place to judge what is or isn't appropriate content. You also aren't an advocate elected or otherwise to speak on behalf of the "community". If you feel so strongly about your point of view why not ask for the total banning of anonymous IP contributions or better yet removal of the discussion tab since the very nature of its discretional viewing clearly interferes with your and others user experience here. If we are going to control the discussion lets go all the way and not stop in the middle. A lot of folks seem to take personal liberties around here especially when IPs are involved. Maybe some of us don't want to register for this very reason, crazy huh. 76.20.238.253 17:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- You are aware that Wynthyst is a sysop, aren't you? Vili 18:23, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, I have asked for the community's input on whether or not these 'update translations' should be treated as vandalism/trolling, and have not removed any of them. Also as Vili points out, I am a sysop, meaning I have indeed been chosen by the community to enforce policy as well as bring up subjects I think need clarification by the greater community based on my discretion. I do not treat IP posters any differently than I do registered users, if a registered user were posting these same things (as Shard did) I would react pretty much the same. The fact that IP posters hide behind one additional layer of anonymity when they post this kind of stuff just indicates to me they aren't willing to own their remarks, or any consequences that might arise from them. -- Wyn 18:34, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
- A registered user account has more anonymity than an IP account, because the IP address isn't revealed for the former :/. It's not about trying to 'hide behind' something - some people don't see a need to register, log in, make a password etc when they can just edit from scratch - it's more convenient from a certain point of view. 'Ownership' of comments doesn't change whether you're an IP account or a registered account - if the persona is there, the ownership is there.
- 76.20.238.253, no one wants to remove the ability for discussion or IP contribution. However, some people just don't want to see the 'translations' (which usually take up a lot of space for very little reason) on talk pages. That doesn't mean it should be everything or nothing.
- Anyway, that discussion is here. -- Brains12 \ talk 18:53, 19 February 2009 (UTC
- I can agree with and respect that. 76.20.238.253 19:14, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it.
We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
