User Page[edit]

Hi, according to user page policy you must be a registered user to have a user page so unfortunately unless you register it will be deleted as non-existent user. --Kakarot Talk 20:22, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm existent. I have an account, the purpose of keeping this would be for reference to my 2 IPs. 82.34.128.95 20:25, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
IPs can change at anytime, even static ones can eventually change (whether it be changes in ISP, etc.) unless specifically assigned to an organization by IANA. Also there is no conclusive way to "prove" that an IP belongs specifically to you thus we don't allow people to "claim ownership" of an IP, but rather only user names and individual edits. --Kakarot Talk 20:32, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
No, my IPs don't change. Both locations have stayed with the same ISP for at least 5 years. If I say it belongs to me, and I put redirects on the page, it's enough to prove the IP is mine. Also, my static IPs never change, since my modem doesn't work with a spoofed MAC. 82.34.128.95 20:34, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Then why don't you just use your user page if it is so yours? Is logging in too much of a hassle? Even so, if you IP is truly yours, there is still no way (to my knowledge) that we can verify that. --TalkPeople of Antioch 20:40, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
As I've said, there's some times when I need to make a quick edit or I cba to click login. In these cases, I redirect the IP to my userpage for referencing purposes so you can tie edits back to me. You don't have to verify that the IP is mine, just that the edits are. 82.34.128.95 20:47, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, be advised it'll get wiped from time to time then. Happy editing. --TalkPeople of Antioch 20:49, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
When it does get wiped, one line can revert destructive sysops :argh: 82.34.128.95 20:50, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Regardless of whether or not that IP is used by you alone or by multiple people the userpage policy still stipulates who can have a user page; Registered users in the official Guild Wars Wiki may create user pages to introduce themselves to and communicate with the community; notice how it specifically states registered users and not just users of the wiki. --Kakarot Talk 20:55, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah well I've proved I'm a registered user and that I have a userpage. There's nothing wrong with redirecting my IPs to my account. PvXwiki or GuildWiki sysops wouldn't whinge and whine and moan about it. 82.34.128.95 20:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Maybe you should go to GuildWiki then. From what I have seen, a few things are different here. --karenUser Karen sig.png 20:58, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
no u. Yeah so what if things are different, I'm already on guildwiki. But I can't communicate with (or bitch at) anet, can I. Besides, why be pathetic over one little redirect? 82.34.128.95 21:00, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Kakarot, that's frankly a bad argument. "The policy says X is allowed, but as Y isn't X, Y isn't allowed." We need a clarification on whether the policy actually intended that IP accounts can't have user pages, or if that was just a misinterpretation. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 21:01, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Since it does not SPECIFICALLY say I cannot have a userpage, or a redirect, I'm assuming it's perfectly reasonable and allowed. If not, I will put forward a policy change suggestion to allow redirects from IP userpages to registered users. 82.34.128.95 21:03, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
It seems it will take wikilawyering to prevent wikilawyering. :/ --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 21:30, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
"You must be registered to create a user page and your user page must be named the same as your login name." (Guild Wars Wiki:User pages). poke | talk 15:14, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
I have deleted that redirect, again. If you really are who you say you are (and we have no way of making sure), try to actually take the time to login and discuss that at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Deletion policy#Non-existent users and anonynous users. Regardless of what you think the policy may or may not explicitly allow, the long-standing convention is that we always delete IP user pages. Until it is changed by consensus, the deletion shall stand and not to be defied. If one cannot be bothered to login, one should not find it bothersome that no one relates the IP to the name. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 15:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
Or we could fucking get checkuser already. :/
And... why can't IPs have user pages, again? Not letting them redirect to other user pages I can see where you're coming from (even if the logic involved is completely and totally convoluted), but what the hell is wrong with putting a few one-liners or whatnot on an IP's user page?
I also see a great flaw in your argument: "If one cannot be bothered to login[sic]..." So YAV doesn't apply anymore? Pretty sure anonymous edits are treated the same as logged-in edits (which would mean that any edits from this IP ought be treated as edits by Napalm).
Could we settle this by getting Napalm to state on his user page (while logged in) that this is his IP? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 15:53, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
As I have said, this is one of my two IPs. What Armond says about YAV is actually quite interesting. I'm going to go to the page Aberrant has linked to and I'm going to argue for a policy change, since there is no issue with one-liner userpages which are redirects. I cannot see the problem with it, so unless there is a valid, significant problem. Napalm Flame 13:43, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank you. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
Armond, we don't have a YAV policy. And you are taking my first half of the sentence out of context. Disallowing an anon from creating an IP user redirect equates to disregarding that anon user's contributions? I delete all IP user page redirects and all non-registered-user pages in "User:" that I see regardless of whether they're created by anon users or registered users. And since you quoted YAV, there is also that part where all users are expected to adhere to policy and convention, and convention has always been that we delete IP redirects. As for whether there's any harm, as I said, overturn the convention via policy dicussion. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:47, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Izzy pages[edit]

While I agree that the posters were fail, put that kind of shit on the talk pages. Copypaste the article and then do your strikethrough/comments thing if you want (feel free to go through the history and copypaste your revisions onto the talk pages, whatever, just don't fuck up the formatting or I will STAB YOU), but leave other people's posts alone, kk? kk. -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 22:57, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Ok mate, that's not a problem. Those articles I edited have been reverted? If you haven't pasted my take on the article into the talk and reverted the main, I'm going to do as you say and put my revisions in talk. 82.34.128.95 14:18, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Quit vandalizing suggestion pages[edit]

I have noticed that you have vandalized at least 1 suggestion page and it has been reverted. Please refrain from doing this in the future unless you want someone to suggest that your IP be blocked.

Late much? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 11:57, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it.

We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
