User Page
Excuse me for asking but how do i make a page like you have for Userpage --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jotheas .
- First, this will take you to your user page. Second, you might want to read up on some wiki coding, if you aren't really familiar with it yet. The welcome page and editing guide is a good start, and they also have links to more advanced wiki code guides. And lastly, you may want to check out our user policy so you know the do's and don't 's :) My page includes lots of different elements with boxes and styling, so it would take too much time to explain it all. I think the best way to learn is to experiment :) - anja 11:55, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
How do i make Boxes around stuff like youve done and the cool names with proffesion background boxes thx for the info. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jotheas .
- This is one of those situations where if you can't work it out from the code, or at least how to borrow and re-use elements from it, I doubt it can be explained. --Lemming 13:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- You may also want to take a look at GWW:SIGN on how to sign your comments (see also the "Please note" below the "Save page" button). -- ab.er.rant 04:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Can someone show me how to get those cool profession backgrouns with the names and also the boxes etc Jotheas The Hunter 14:34, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- this is the code for the monk box (removed font stuff):
<div class="skill-box Monk" style="background-color:{{mo-color|tint}}; background-position: center; padding:[padding]; border:thin solid {{mo-color|border}}; width:130px;">
. the factor that produces the monk icon background is class="skill-box Monk". - Y0_ich_halt 14:38, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you are looking for the character boxes, M'vy made a very nice template out of them! You can find it here. - anja 14:39, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Talk:Torment_Gemstone/Temp
I just tagged this page for deletion Talk:Torment_Gemstone/Temp, its seemed to be a dupe of Torment_Gemstone, and i think it was created on a talk page, can you double check that it should be tagged for deletion thanks :) Fall 13:59, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Someone tagged it wirg a merge tag instead, which seems more appropriate :) - anja 15:12, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Signature
Hey, how do you put an image behind your name? I got something lol.. Lord Dark Eyes | Here comes an image 18:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- You go to your preferences and put the wikicode into the "Nickname" field. A simpler example of my sig would be:
[[User:Anja Astor|Anja]] [[Image:User Anja Astor sig icon.png]]
, which would produce this: "Anja ". Don't forget to check the "Raw signatures" box. Also, your image must follow the user naming scheme and not be bigger than 19 x 19px, to avoid messing with the normal text flow. All this is explained more in depth in the signature policy :) - anja 18:47, 23 September 2007 (UTC)- Thanks! Lord Dark Eyes 05:41, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Item Infobox overhaul
Hey Anja, I'm going to be looking at overhauling the {{Item infobox}} template, and was hoping you could provide some input. BeX and I have started some discussion over changes on the template's talk page. Thanks, --Indecision 11:24, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Hehe, this made me search you on the other wiki and I found this:
"If reverting vandalism was all it took to be an admin, I wouldn't have a Userbox explicitly stating I'll never be one...otherwise, I would be a perfect candidate, since I'm a faster Revert-er than most and (used to) patrol RC constantly. However, since my temperment is all wrong, I tend to expand arguments rather than cool them, and I can't be nearly as active as I used to be, that job isn't really for me. I've always thought that administrative duties enforcer would be nice...something that is not a full-blown admin but has the power to revert vandalism, ban vandals, delete pages, etc. But I guess that does not exist. (T/C) 23:05, 6 September 2007 (CDT)" by Entropy on the other wiki.

God Inscriptions
What do you think about leaving the inscription in its color wrap? Like User:Fall/Sandbox Fall 19:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- The table that makes the color is the thing that makes people on lower resolutions unable to read some of the text. If we find another solution to the color, it could work. - anja 19:59, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Screenshots
Hey, Ive jst started GW and I needed a page to help recruit for my Guild, it helped a little. The thing was about the images, I update them regularly. Do I just put "screenshot <description>" in the description box? I need to know so that they arent subject to deletion -_-... P.S I like ur 3rd necro's name... Nosferatu, the origional name for Dracula. ;p jay 07:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Images for your guild need to follow a specific naming pattern. For you guild, it would be Guild Open Palm Shadows screenshot 1.jpg instead of a name like Gw100.jpg. This is to help maintenance with images, and is specified in the guild policy. You also need to put {{guild image}} in the description box, but that can easily be done later. The most important thing is the name, since names of images cannot be changed. They need to be reuploaded, and the old version with wrong name deleted. I hope this made it more clear :) - anja 10:16, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Hey me again
I need to know how to put template builds onto my page, could you please give me the codes etc... I need to know how I can mix and match the skills also, so that it resembles my current build in-game. jay 16:21, 10 October 2007 (UTC) thanx again
- To put a skill bar on your page, you write:
{{Skill bar|Mending|Mending|Mending|Mending|Mending|Mending|Mending|Mending}}
. That gives this build:
Mending | Mending | Mending | Mending | Mending | Mending | Mending | Mending |
- Of course, you just replace "Mending" with the name of the skills. More info is also available on the template page, here. You can do alot of nice stuff with this template. Hide and show the text, change the icon size, etc, and all that is explained on the template page I linked. - anja 16:26, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- (warning:ad) to include stuff like attributes and notes, you can use my build template:
{{User:Y0_ich_halt/Templates/MiniBuild}}

- Sorry, you cannot remove contents of your talk page. See Guild Wars Wiki:User page#User talk page restrictions for details on how to archive them. To mark things for deletion, edit the page and use the {{delete}} template. And lastly, since your signature is just "jay", could you go and register an account with username "Jay"? Little help please
I have created 2 boxes with text in on my user page and they're both width-50% but I want one aligned to the left and one on the right but I dunno how to align the whole box to the right. I'd like the "My Characters" box on the right, if you could either tell me how to change it or just change it yourself that'd be much appreciated. Also am I free to use your character link boxes and do I need to credit you if I use them? Thanks Lyra Valo 20:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
<div style="width: 50%; float: left;">Left box</div> <div style="width: 50%; float: right;">Right box</div>
- Note that you need to make them smaller when you want to use paddings or margins. poke | talk 20:15, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Do you want it all the way to the right, or just beside the "about me"-box? Poke's solution will place it as far right as possible, putting both boxes into a new table will instead put them just beside eachother.
And feel free to use the character link boxes, you don't need to give credit just for those small things :) Of course, if you have space for credit, it's nice, but it's in no way a must. - anja 20:18, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

- images for your user space must be named "Image:User Kalee Leilani <name>.<file extension>". so, e.g. File:User Kalee Leilani Character1.jpg. were they named like that? in that case, maybe poke made a mistake. see GWW:USER for more info. - Y0_ich_halt 21:26, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for all the hard work on the old GW updates. I noticed you not only created all the subpages for each update, but now you have also created some categories that make browsing said updates a lot easier. My user page
Hey, I copied your old userpage code, but once i finished all the editing to suit my details, the Wiki links at the top and side of the page (user page, discussion etc; main page, guild wars news etc) went all weird and small, and out of place. Could you go to my userpage and check if it looks like this to you as well? And if yes, why is it like that; and if not, why can I see it like that? Thanks. brains12 13:38, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I took some screenshots to help. There are two - when I first copied the code (and made a few changes) and when I made my full changes (the left links are all at the bottom) brains12 13:58, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- This is a problem with an unclosed div-tag. At least it seems like that to me. I would advise you to go through your pages and look for <div>'s without a </div> :) Or I can try to fix it for you, if you wish. - anja 16:14, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

On runes
Just so you know... if you indentify salvaged runes, merchant prices (not rune trader prices) may vary from 25g to over 100g based on rarity, so no, not every rune is worth 25g (i don't think higher rarity runes have a fixed value anyways).
- Hmh.. Weird :/ They all have the value 25g after first being ided then salvaged at least, you mean after identifying a second time? Why would someone identify a rune a second time? :P If they don't have a fixed value, maybe we should keep only the 25g value in the article. Or, put it like "25-100g". - anja 17:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Erh, not sure how you identify them, but my process goes this way: Kill mob -> mob drops armor -> identify armor -> extract rune (extracted rune has no value) -> identify rune -> ??? -> Profit.
I think on insignias the value is fixed (at 25g? no matter what armor it comes from) and maybe for runes bought from the rune trades it's fixed too, but for runes salvaged from creature's armor the value is variable. --Fighterdoken 18:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)- I just never thought of identifying them a second time (I just identify the armor, then salvage), since they have the value 25 at merchant and trader from the start. Never occured to me that they have a higher value :P We should confirm it's variable, and in which cases it's variable, and then correct the articles. - anja 18:09, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, IDing the rune/insignia itself makes the value go up. This will be the new base value both the merchants and rune traders will pay you for it, so it's quite useful for less valuable runes/insignia. The IDed value depends on rarity. Insignia 25-50, Minor 25-40, Major 50-100, Superior 100-200, in my experience. --Valshia 18:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Wow. That's so obvious that I never even thought to try it. Seriously. - Thulsey - talk 02:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- How can you not know about this?? like if you iden. a gold rune if it's only 100g at trader you could get like 100-200 g for it!! Teo 05:43, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Because these are trader stuff, not merchant stuff. It has never occurred to me to id runes because I sell them to the trader and have no idea it affects their base value. It's the same as not id-ing crafting materials because it was not apparent that the base value would actually influence trader price as well. Hmm.... does this apply to scrolls as well? -- ab.er.rant 05:52, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- If i remember right, for scrolls is the same as with crafting materials: they come identified (with price) already, so "nope", it doesn't affect the final price for those.--Fighterdoken 06:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Actually it has to do more with the fact that you have to ID an item to get it in the first place. It just never occured to me to id what I salvaged out of the item I had to id. Now, if I had been in the habit of ID'ing runes after I extracted them, which I know many used to do, I'd probably have figured this out. As I said, so obvious it never occurred to me. And other people, as well, apparently. So, great news and I think it should be documented! - Thulsey - talk 19:53, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

- When salvaging a unidentified armor you will get an unidentified rune/insignia from it so there is a reason for identifying the runes. I already had runes with values above 300g; it is like normal armor/drop values, they are dependent from enemy level/whatever and are more random values than in a specific range. poke | talk 21:25, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- I always identify stuff before salvaging it... do most people not? *blank look* ^.^ Ale_Jrb (talk) 21:45, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
- Me too :P Poke, as said here we are trying to find out if the value ranges are dependant on the rune rarity (which we think) not the armor value on the armor it was salvaged from. - anja 21:47, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

- What I wanted to say that the rune value is not dependent on the rune type but more on things which also impact the armor value (e.g. enemy level, enemy type etc.). So for example runes dropped by Titans had a higher value than other (I noticed that, when I was actively farming titans). poke | talk 15:46, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- So, you mean, if I get a superior rune drop in Kourna, it's not worth as much after ID as a superior rune dropped in RoT? (Assuming NM and normal monster encounters etc) Then, what should be listed in the infobox? - anja 16:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Imo the infobox should list 25/50/100 as this is the default value for unidentified runes or for runes buyed from the rune trader. poke | talk 16:26, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's the default value for selling bought runes only, not dropped. - anja 13:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- But it's also the minimum money you get when selling and the half of the minimum price when buying from the trader. poke | talk 14:32, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Let's just leave it as 25/50/100 and add a little note to Rune saying "You can identify salvaged runes to increase its base value slightly, similar to identifying mundane items." -- ab.er.rant 09:14, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- But we dont mention that for any other item formatting. I don't see why this should be the exception, because it would just be confusing. We list merchant value for everything else. - BeX 09:25, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- But the merchant value can be pretty much anything up to 200. We could put 1 - 200, but that seems equally pointless. I dunno. I'm fine with just having a note saying that the price can vary. Ale_Jrb (talk) 09:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- That is only if the rune is identified. Almost any item will change in value if you identify it. - BeX 09:30, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- I thought Ab.er.rant was suggesting putting the unidentified price... what would it be the exception to? Hmm... *is confused* Ale_Jrb (talk) 09:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- There was discussion about this before, and I don't know what the resolution was (nor did I have time to personally confirm in game) but Anja and I were both convinced all runes are worth 25g if unidentified, no matter the rarity, but poke thought otherwise. Anja checked in game and confirmed this but it seemed unsure. - BeX 09:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

- I'm still suggesting that we list merchant price for runes, it's just we add a note to Rune, not the individual rune articles. Or add the note to Identification Kit, or even Item rarity. -- ab.er.rant 10:16, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I think we can say now that unidentified runes have a base value of 25g, both merchant and trader (this is, in my experience, testing with runes I have had in my inventory for some time). Identified runes have a minimum value of 25/50/100g. Bought runes are considered identified. I think stating no value at all or 25g in the individual article would be best. Then we can make a more extensive note at Rune. I also think we should move this discussion to a topical page. - anja 13:08, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Quick access links
Hi Anja... I talked to you in game about the Quick Access Links page... I think I have it looking mostly the way I want. If you could check it and see if it's ready to be moved? I'd like to start working on the 'by Campaign' table, but I want to get it placed on the permanent page first. Thanks again for your help!!--Wynthyst 21:28, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- It seems like someone else got the urge to make nice link tables. Maybe you can take a look here and you can work together to make them great. :) Until it's decided what design is best, I'm not going to move stuff around. I hope it's ok :) - anja 23:07, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- This someone is me :P - As you can see on Quick Access Links the page is tagged for deletion, this means that it takes at least 3 days (from time of tagging) to be deleted. Before this time has passed, we are not allowed to delete it, so we cannot move the temp page to this place. The style you used for the changed table reminds strongly of GuildWiki's style, because of the "W"/"R"/... thing and the setup in general so personally I would tag it with copyvio again. As Anja said, I reworked that whole thing to look a lot more like GWW style (if you look around you will notice that we have a lot of those table styles). You can see the result here. poke | talk 23:38, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I guess I'm going to just stop contributing now, since I spent the better part of the past 2 days trying to create this page and my efforts are obviously not good enough. It would have been really nice had the someone in question who was 'reworking' the page, use the Temp page that I was directed to in the copyright warning, then at least I could have seen what I was doing wrong, and learned how to do it right.... so on that note, thanks for ruining my weekend. --Wynthyst 20:44, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you feel that way :/ If I'm allowed to express my opinion, I still think your tables provides more information on less space, Wynthyst. So I'm not going to let it slip away. - anja 20:51, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to stop you from keeping any of the work I did, but I really no longer have any desire to contribute more, since it seems to be more a case of rather than helping someone new, who's trying to learn how to do it right, just take the idea and the credit....I have requested that my table have a speedy deletion, and if I have read the policies correctly, it meets the requirements since I am the sole contributor and it has been up for less than 24hrs. I don't find the table that Poke created to be nearly as useful or user friendly, so I guess I will just go back to GuildWiki and be done with it.--Wynthyst 22:18, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Ok... I'm a glutton for punishment, and am still here... I just took a look at your sandbox, and really like the colors and stuff. I hope you don't mind if I swipe it and make a few changes to where things link to, as I've been working on some lists.--Wynthyst 02:22, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Basic formatting questons
Is there someplace I can go to find answers to very basic formatting questions, like how to change font colors, or sizes? I know... totally noob question, but I'm a total noob. --Wynthyst 09:15, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- We have the mediaWiki Cheatsheet here but I recommend you to look through Wikipedia's editing help as it contains nearly everything possible. Also if you are experienced with html, you can simply use html code on mediaWiki pages (not all html tags but the most). poke | talk 11:06, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
- Meta's editor help is like a bible, I'd recommend that site :) (Font colors and sizes are listed under CSS). Also, of course feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to help if I can, and I know most of others are too. - anja 14:57, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Help on making suggestions....
Here goes... I am having some difficulties with many of the page layout templates that GWW is using, and would like to suggest a change. I do not feel knowledgeable enough in either code, or policy (both of which I'm learning) to try to make any adjustments myself, not to mention the fact that I am having the problem with WAY too many pages. I view the wiki in a windowed browser, and every single one of the Armor pages overlaps the materials table and the infobox, so I am forced to full screen my browser if I wish to see the entire materials table. Is it possible to position the materials table below the infobox? Maybe fill the space with text instead that will rewrap accordingly? I have no clue where to make this kind of a suggestion, and have no intention of just diving in and starting to make any edits and get all the sysops in the world tagging me for various policy violations :P If there is a place for these kinds of suggestions, please direct me to it, or feel free to move this post there.--Wynthyst 12:12, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hmh. We have tried to optimize viewing for maximized 1024x768, since it's hard to make it good for all viewers. I guess it would be possible to add something to the materials table or infobox so that if they clash with each other, the materials table will move down below the infobox.. I'd say post this on Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting/Armor, it's the most appropriate place and will bring it to peoples attention :)
Just moving the materials box down would be forcing alot of whitespace for alot of people, so let's find a better solution :) - anja 12:30, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Not in this case, since it would make alot of unnecessary whitespace for everyone viewing it on maximized :) - anja 13:05, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- Here's a workaround that should, at the very least, help you for now Wynthyst: 1. Go to this page, and edit it (if it doesn't exist, click the link to create and edit it, otherwise, click the edit tab). 2. Add the following line to it:
div#bodyContent table { clear: right; }
- then save the page. 3. Do a hard refresh (in most browsers, this means Ctrl-clicking the refresh button) to update the page layouts.
- What this does is make it so that any table in the article content will drop down below any "floating" elements such as the armor nav box, but only for you. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 13:25, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- OOOOHHHH!!! Thanks much Aiiane! That totally solves the problem for me.... I don't really care about the white space, as scrolling doesn't tax my computer, but having to full screen all the time just gives it fits. Some day I will understand all this. --Wynthyst 00:30, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Suggestions?
The first very helpful person I have met on the wiki, thanks. Any ideas or tips for improving my userpage? Unreal Havoc 10:36, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hm. I'd say navigate around on other peoples user pages and look at their designs. It's always ok to take ideas from others. Just remember to ask them or give credit if you take a lot of stuff from the same user :) (You can always press edit on the user page you like to look at how the code works. You just have to make sure you dont press the save button ;) )
Oh, btw, your signature is linking to Unreal Havoc, but your user name is Unreal havoc, with a small h. Wiki makes a difference between those characters, so it would be great if you could change it to link to your page instead :) - anja 10:41, 1 November 2007 (UTC)- AGHH!!! Anyway I can rectify that? Ok, another thing >< I feel bad now! The icon you want to use as sig has to be unique to you, so it can be easily identified as your icon. This means you should reupload it to a name like User Unreal havoc sig.png and change your signature (in the preferences) to include that image instead :)

I want to add my thanks and appreciation to Anja, and yes Ab.er.ant, pointing to the policies pages may seem easier, but it's really obnoxious to new users who are looking for help. It almost drove me away from here when I started a week ago, and all anyone BUT Anja and Aiiane did was point me at policy pages that are completely indecipherable by your average Joe Schmoe who hasn't been involved in policy discussions for the past many months. Having someone answer my questions at a personal level is what has convinced me to stay and continue contributing. Maybe now I can get her to help me figure out the whole signature thing :P --Wynthyst 10:13, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Candy Weapons or Candy cane weapon?
I wasn't sure if this should be tagged for deletion or something else but all the information that appears on Candy Weapons already appears on Candy cane weapon and the second includes further information. Candy weapons only has one link on Wintersday which would need to be changed but that's the only one. Also Candy Weapons has already been tagged for moving to the second one back in August. Thought it would be best to see what one of the admins thought before I did anything. --Kakarot 00:38, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
