copyvio templates
Now, I recall why I did copy the pages: The sites were created by GFDL contributors, meaning that the layout would be ok to copy. The rest is only factual information which doesn't matter wether you copied it from the game or gwg. Would you remove the templates from the quest entries? I agree you were still right on the other pages. ~ D.L. 00:03, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- The formatting/layout of the pages however still falls under copyright. That is the issue with the quests. --Rainith 00:04, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- EDIT CONFLICT! :o - It's not up to me. An admin will review them eventually. As for the factual information, walkthroughs contain a lot of opinion and retain the style of the author. The only "factual" information would be the data copied right out of the quest log. After an admin decides what to do with it you should have clearer guidelines on what can and can't be copied. At the moment everything is uncertain. One thing I do know is, that the entire article may be deleted and you may have to begin again, because I read somewhere that they don't want the copyrighted material in the page history. Best to contact an admin with any questions. :) - - BeXoR 00:07, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- A quick look (because it is after midnight and I have to get up in 5 hours) and it doesn't look like any of the walkthroughs were copied over, so that isn't an issue. If any are (and if they weren't this time, I'm sure they will be at some point, by someone) then that would most definitely be an issue. --Rainith 00:10, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- I myself wasn't sure about whether s&f was copyright, that's why I tagged them. I didn't actually check the walkthroughs myself. - - BeXoR 00:12, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- If a plain table (like the ones used in the title articles) can be a violation, then I'm 99% sure S&F type stuff can be too. --Rainith 00:13, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- S&f isn't an issue because I (or other GFDL approving users) created those pages. The formatting of those literal transcriptions are simply derivations of those from the original author(s). I don't see an issue. ~ D.L. 02:36, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- The format used in the article was not designed by you, or probably any one person. You used the format to create the page, filling in areas with information. The information as gotten from the game, isn't copyright, but the way it is presented or written may be. - - BeXoR 04:06, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- I'm not here to argue with you about my formatting capabilities. As for the articles in question, I claim to have invented the formatting and hence all other adoptions are to be considered trivial until proven otherwise. ~ D.L. 04:22, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- [1] Can you prove that you created the style that was implemented here before March 23? - BeXoR 04:25, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- No and I don't need to. First, I'm the accused, so I don't have to prove anything. Second: LordBiro's contribs are GFLD licensed, too. [2] ~ D.L. 04:28, 9 February 2007 (PST)
- I was responding to your statement: "I claim to have invented the formatting". If the edits to that style and formatting are deemed to be trivial, then it wont be an issue. - - BeXoR 04:31, 9 February 2007 (PST)

User pages
BeXoR, thank you for explaining your reasons on the talk page issue, as I now know why you don't want edits to main pages very often. I can easily see why watching of a user's main page could be frustrating, when all you want to know about is a response from that person in their talk page. EMonk 02:33, 11 February 2007 (PST)
- No probs, I'm glad I was clear. - BeXoR 02:40, 11 February 2007 (PST)
Info image
Hey BeXoR, I preferred the original upload if the info image. Was there any reason behind uploading the other version? LordBiro 06:53, 11 February 2007 (PST)
- I liked it better, plus the license is more permitting and it's good to be a little different. - BeXoR 07:01, 11 February 2007 (PST)
- Well... Personally I prefer the other icon and I prefer the FDL to PD :P But ok! I just wondered. LordBiro 07:28, 11 February 2007 (PST)
Main page
I dont mind your new ordering that much, but the point why I put the "how to help" box up top is that that way all boxes which are bound to get big are concentrated on the bottom, while those that are likely to stay small are on top. --Xeeron 06:44, 12 February 2007 (PST)
- I ordered them to be sorted in a more logical manner. If they change in size it wont be drastic, but the flow of information should be a priority. - BeXoR 06:48, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Also, why did you add the Anet box back in? We are a guild wars wiki, not the arenanet home page. That box gives much to much main page space to the company. --Xeeron 07:33, 12 February 2007 (PST)
Links
Hey. Just random trick here. Link to the outside world use only one braket. Like this [Insert link here]--Aratak 08:22, 12 February 2007 (PST)
- ... and if you want to give the link a description, just use a space between the URL and the description, like this: [www.guildwiki.org Guildwiki]. :) --84-175 (talk) 08:24, 12 February 2007 (PST)
- Well you seem to use it corectly most of the time don't know what happen on Scourge's talk page.--Aratak 08:30, 12 February 2007 (PST)
- I'm well aware of that. I just use two brackets by force of habit. The same as with my signature. I always type - ~~~~ evne though now I added the dash into it so I wouldn't have to type it. :S - BeXoR 20:56, 12 February 2007 (PST)

What things have you been doing with Prince Rurik...? o_0 LordBiro 05:36, 16 February 2007 (PST)
- Nothing! I mean, unless you saw something. Don't tell anyone! I could get in trouble. :( Those Stone Summit came out of nowhere and... D:!!! - BeXoR 05:43, 16 February 2007 (PST)
Thanks.
Thanks for your spirited participation in hashing out the User Page policy. I know I contradicted you a bunch (it's kinda what I do to everyone in a policy discussion), but, personally, I found your posts to be the most important as far as defining what we were actually trying to limit. Thanks for making those size-comparison thingies, too! — 130.58 (talk) 23:27, 16 February 2007 (PST)
- NP, I'm glad we've finally gotten somewhere that everyone could agree on! Should I move those size things over as a subpage of the policy and link to it in the article? I think it should be linked in there in case the page gets archived again. - BeXoR 22:29, 18 February 2007 (PST)
Cutting images.
Hey, just wondering, what's your trick for cutting the background out of character images quickly? I'm pretty handy with Photoshop, but it's not something I can do very fast. — 130.58 (talk) 17:39, 17 February 2007 (PST)
- Oh, if there's a trick to that, I want to know it, too! ~ dragon legacy 05:17, 18 February 2007 (PST)
- Sry guys, busy getting piggies and forgot to reply. I just use polygonal lasso with 0 feather and trace around the edge, cutting away sections at a time. It probably isn't the fastest way, but I'm used to the tool and my hand isn't steady enough for the lasso. I put the line in the middle of the edge pixel so it cuts out all the background, and I take my pics in the usual Isle of the Nameless spot so that the background is plain. I think Kaya does it too, but I'm not sure what tool she uses or what program, and I know there was one other person on gwiki that did it but I cant remember at all. - BeXoR 22:26, 18 February 2007 (PST)
- Paint Shop Pro has this very handy "background eraser tool" (usage described here). Works like a charm (on uniform backgrounds with some contrast to the object of interest). I would be surprised if Photoshop didn't have a similar feature, but I'm not familiar with that program. --84-175 (talk) 01:29, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- There is a background eraser tool in Photoshop, too. It's one of the tools of the Eraser class, click and hold to select it. ~ dragon legacy 05:37, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- I can't figure out how to make it work. I really wish I had the newest Photoshop. I saw a video online and they had this selection tool that was so awesome. It was a really smart color selection thing. I wish I'd bookmarked it! - BeXoR 08:02, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- Ya, pretty much all I do is use the polygonal lasso tool and cut sections at a time. It might take some time, but it's a whole lot more accurate than anything else i've done. Also "Select-Modify-Smooth" is a must do to make the edges of your image crisp. I dunno, maybe there's something better than that, but it seems to work fine for me. kaya 09:05, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- I've never used the smooth thing. What do you mean by crisp? - BeXoR 09:34, 19 February 2007 (PST)

reset indent Maybe it's just me but whenever I cut my images out the edges always seem to be a little choppy, so I messed around with it a little and found that using the smooth selection trick it will get rid of the choppy areas making the edges a little more smooth or crisp. Your images have great edges, so it's probably just me not taking the time to make my inital cuts exact. Unless there's something else you do to make the edges smooth like that. kaya 10:01, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- No I don't do anything. :S I'm using PS7, maybe it's different between versions? - BeXoR 01:13, 20 February 2007 (PST)
Grats on images
I see you uploaded the new pics for the profession pages. I think they are the most adequate and just great, crisp and clear. Before that it was often 15k armor, obsidian armor and a bit showoff mixed in, instead of the basic armors of the class. So thank you for uploading and reworking this section, it was utterly necessary. I have a question, where did you get that pics, are they from the fankit or did you create them yourself? I could use some more of these pics for private usage. :) --Longasc 06:47, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- See section above. :) --Dirigible 07:38, 19 February 2007 (PST)
- Thx Digi. Yep, I just took screenshots and cut the background out manually. If you want to try it yourself there's some tips above. And I'm glad you like them. I tried to pick the armor that new characters either start with or get very early (for core professions I couldn't get the starter armor on PVP chars, so I went with collector armor). It's not the flashiest armor, but it's what a new user should expect and if they want to see more there's the link to the armor page in the article. ^_^ - BeXoR 07:54, 19 February 2007 (PST)

You can take away the little arrow thing at the end of the link by making the coding as such:

I have used the coding here:

Look there, another wannabe novellist. Grats on winning! :) You're one of those nutjobs who write the whole damn thing in three days?! < 2000 words a day was stressful enough for me. I didn't participate last year, though, because I still had the experience from the year before in mind. Too much work, and the result kinda sucked. :D --84-175 (talk) 01:49, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Big Wolf on Campus??
I love that show, looks like you like it too lol. I wonder what happened to it Scourge 02:44, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- Merton was just too funny! It got cancelled because a certain channel bought it and they never run series any longer than 100 episodes or something. It should have been released on dvd. :( - BeXoR 03:39, 20 February 2007 (PST)
- I never got to see the end of the series, did it end properly or was it just cut off? Scourge 04:46, 23 February 2007 (EST)
- I think it was kind of cut off, because I heard there were at least 4 more episodes filmed that were never aired. They did have a tribute show though that was kind of sweet. It used to be on youtube if you want to watch it. :) - BeXoR 09:58, 23 February 2007 (EST)
