Collectors
Hi BeXor! I'm relatively new to the GWW community, but I've jumped right in. I'm working on organizing some of the stuff for quick access into lists, and the area I'm currently focusing on is Collectors. I see from the Project page you are also working on that. I hope an extra hand isn't going to be in the way. I am trying very hard to conform to all the policies and formats and stuff. If you find something I have done that is not, please feel free to fix it and just leave me a note so I know what I'm doing wrong. I'm basically just filling in the holes as I find them. (Oh and btw.. I used your userpage template for the start of my main page.)--Wynthyst 04:44, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm glad that someone wants to work on them - collector weapon reward lists are basically the last thing left that we dont have that gwiki did. I had hoped that one of the people who was familiar with dpl would be able to help with formatting later, but currently I think you'll be fine with just tabulating data. I look forward to seeing your ideas. :D - BeX 04:55, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- We can't DPL it because the data is not in an accessible form. Poke is working on that. Or was, at least. Backsword 08:37, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know, and I remember poke and someone else mentioning it a while back (months now?). It sort of stopped anyone from doing anything while we waited though (even though people kept complaining that the page was empty on the talk page for it!). I'm too busy to learn what would be required to make the data accessible, or to do the regular tables myself! - BeX 08:42, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I am basically just setting the individual collector pages up with the same format as the ones that are already there as I do my lists. I am halfway through the Factions lists now, and Prophecies is finished. If there are any problems with what I am doing PLEASE let me know, either with a note on my talk page or here. --Wynthyst 10:00, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm working on a way to DPL those lists, currently I'm still waiting for more comments on Unique items.. poke | talk 14:18, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, as a newcomer, I have no idea what DPL means, and if your YES means that my continued effort at creating the lists is a problem.... clarify? I'm anticipating having my lists done before the end of the weekend, but if they are going to just get overwritten, I will spend my time snazzing up my userpage rather than have another weekend's work wasted. -- Wynthyst 14:47, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- This will not be finished this weekend if I know poke, and I think I do, somewhat. :P It's better you do those lists so we at least have something before this is finished, which can take weeks, or months. - anja 14:51, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- As you see on the linked page, I started the DPL idea for unique items on 28 September and even if I would start today, it would take some time (1 week?) until the list is ready.. And then when that is working I would maybe start to think about collector things which would take some more time (as it's a lot more complex) - So what I want to say: Start with the table as it will take some time till we can try collector pages with DPL :P poke | talk 14:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok.. I'm just doing simple lists example by region that simply use the collector tables that are already in existance, example to make the information more easily accessible than having to jump around to either all the region pages, or the individual collector pages via the Category. I am also filling in the blanks, adding collector pages where I find there isn't one already. (EDIT) I might suggest something like this if you want to give it a more GWW look, though I can't get the header row to have a grey background (EDIT)-- Wynthyst 15:32, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's good to see another person working on collectors. Presently I am working on adding any missing info, correcting any errors I find as well as creating any Collector pages for people who presently don't have one. I've had a look at your list Wynthyst and it looks fine to me so far, although I do wish there was a way to have multiple columns on ToC's considering how long it could get for some areas. Just out of curiousity, would it look better if you used the TOCright template instead of the normal one? --Kakarot 15:58, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- I could try if I knew how... as I said, I'm VERY new to this, learning as I go.-- Wynthyst 16:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Just add the following text at the top of the page {{TOCright}} and use the Show Preview button to get a see how it looks without having to actually save it. --Kakarot 16:11, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Cool.. thank you... go back to my example and tell me what you think. -- Wynthyst 16:16, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Much better, it still includes the table of contents for easy navigation but doesn't take up a large amount of area causing added scrolling. Always happy to help new users, especially since we all started out as one :D --Kakarot 16:31, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- BTW... my lists make it really easy to find collectors that are missing pages and or information... they show up as broken links. I've been trying to fill in the holes. -- Wynthyst 16:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

All my general collector lists are done. They are organized by Campaign/Region, and then linked through a table... here. I did have some questions on how to organize the GW:EN collectors, since even though the Dungeons are technically associated with the Depths of Tyria region, most players will look for them in the physical region where they are located. I opted to place them on both lists for convenient access. I am now doing the same for armor collectors and will be incorporating these lists as they are completed... here. -- Wynthyst 13:27, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- I will give this a quick reply before I go to bed - I think these pages are fantastic! I do, though, think they should be moved to different article names, but they are otherwise extremely impressive. I will respond here again in detail tomorrow, but very good work! - BeX 14:19, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Someone had started a list for one of the campaign locations before I started, so I just used their naming form and carried it over to the collectors as well. I have no problem with any change you feel is appropriate, just so I know, and can fix the various links I already have established to them. :D -- Wynthyst 14:31, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I saw you've started moving them... shouldn't the Istan one be 'on Istan' rather than 'in Istan'? It is an island afterall... I may be wrong. I have also finished the armor collector lists... I did some cleanup on some of them, standardizing the name to (name)/Collector armor and made all the GW:EN ones the same format, as they were all different. It just looks better I think. There are several in Factions that still need a bit of work. Now I'm working on lists of Collector weapons by profession. -- Wynthyst 11:10, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think Istan is more a region name than the name of the isle. So in Istan fits better; also we use Istan as a province name (see the article). poke | talk 12:04, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Ok.. I'm on to my next collector project.... Collector items by profession.. here and here. Any thoughts? -- Wynthyst 16:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- Excellent. Just what I've been wanting. (Added sortability to the tables.) Backsword 00:28, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I went ahead and renamed them as was suggested, and will name the rest the same way. -- Wynthyst 00:44, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok... I'm about going blind over wiki code, and my guild thinks I have forsaken them... but I've gotten the warrior, ranger, monk, elementalist, assassin, paragon, and dervish lists done. I'm taking a break now :P As I'm tracking down some of the information I'm seeing different table formats for the collectors (see the barbarous coast collectors specifically) and it's making me a bit crazy... I'm a stickler for continuity. I am also finding problems, either no information or badly put together information on some of the trophy pages. I have fixed a few of them, but I'm gonna start dreaming about this stuff soon, so I know it's time for me to stop... for a couple days anyway.-- Wynthyst 01:55, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- It is always good to take a break! :) You deserve a rest after all that too, ehhe. - BeX 01:59, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

New GW:EN items glow when backlit
I'm just wondering, do you think was it itentional to have some of the new items added in GW:EN to basically 'light up' and appear to nearly glow with brightness when backlit yet look their dullest when fully front lit? Examples of items like this would be Bonecage Scythe, Great Conch, Ebonhand Aegis, Demon Fangs, Aureate Staff, Demoncrest Spear... Jennalee 11:39, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I can't think of a reason why they would have intentionally done that. It might be a bug in the UV maps on the model. Strange thing though. I haven't really played GW:EN so I haven't gotten to look at many of the skins. - BeX 12:14, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- o_O do you need a demonstration? Maybe it should be reported? :S Jennalee 13:48, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- I too have noticed the backlit, I always thought it was something special to make EotN stand out from all the rest! :P -- ►AshleyS (talk•contribs) 18:50, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, I can see in those screenshots that the light is hitting the character model in a different direction to the weapon. It's quite bizarre. o_O - BeX 23:44, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe they invented some new form of physics just for those items - light hitting you sort of gets diverted into the item to shine out the back from where the sun is rather than reflected straight back o_o Jennalee 02:56, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

And the RoC get ignored again!
And rightfully so, I might say. For a host of reasons. Reason No1: The RoC was meant to govern playing GW, not the wiki. Reason No2: ANet promised us that it would be up to the wiki to make the wiki policies. Reason No3: They technically do not apply (depending on your understanding of grammar): "While playing Guild Wars". Reason No4: They are a legal catch all phrase added by ANet to make sure they are not sued. Stuff like "You may not violate any local, state, national, or international laws or regulations" is never to be taken literally. I am 100% sure I can find a regulation somewhere out there to forbid you just about everything. --Xeeron 14:18, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- They say in the top it applies to the Guild Wars websites as well. While they would not ban your account for breaking the RoC on the wiki, they are still terms of conduct that all users should adhere to. The user page policy also disallows materials in breach of the game's terms and conditions. - BeX 08:44, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Collector stuff
Hi, I want to ask for your comment on those collector maps I'm (trying) to create. Turned out my original font colour wasn't readable on all surfaces, so changed it (again). See Image:Sunqua Vale collectors map.jpg. I also created some categories to put those maps in (Category:Collector maps). I suppose it couldn't hurt to have those ? Erszebet 13:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Looks great to me and I think the category is a good idea. :) - BeX 13:41, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Dye colours
What colour (combination) is the default colour on Monk Krytan armor, shown in the render there? —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- It's the base colour, the old default before everything was turned gray. Emily's program uses the base colour when she renders them. I'm sure you can get close with a mix though. - BeX 00:41, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I was wondering what mix would approximate it; I know about base colours. —Ebany Salmonderiel 11:43, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

May I use?
Hello. Can I use your formatting code? I'll make sure to give you credit. Please? --Adiana 19:28, 28 November 2007

Pose for screening bows
How did you manage to get the pose with the Nevermore Flatbow pic and some others with just the hand holding the bow out and nothing else? Jennalee 02:32, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
- Paragon. :) I think I was using an anthem. - BeX 04:00, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Dye charts
Any suggestions? Should I remove the outer black border given you're using that template? Jennalee 15:06, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Bah... After failing to realise you could expand the size of the dye preview window (and get better resolution), I feel like a retard :(. Jennalee 15:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hehe, you learn something new every day. I knew that but for some reason I realise now, I was taking dye preview shots of my monk and didnt resize. Must have completely slipped my mind.
Personally I don't have much of an opinion of what the dye charts look like. User:Zemmy did a whole bunch of them, and created that template, so he/she would be the best to ask for tips (I think her and boyf chare wiki acc). - BeX 23:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
