I played Guild Wars for years, doing both high end PvP and PvE, and not once have I seen anyone ask me to get on mumble or murmur or shockvoice or any of that shit. I've been asked to get on vent literally hundreds of times, and TS probably 50 or so. Like I said in my edit comment, the article is about voip as it applies to Guild Wars, not an article listing every single voip program made. We are not wikipedia - lists like that are fine for them, but useless for us. My original plan was to cut the list down to TS and Vent, because they're honestly the only ones worth mentioning, but I have heard skype and xfire used (albeit very, very rarely). GCD and the rest of that shit are simply not worth mentioning, because they have nothing to do with the voip scene in guild wars. -Auron 23:14, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Personaly in guilds I were and the one I am in at the moment, I have used Mumble as main VoIP as much as ts/vent. (Mumble prints vocal chat users on/in overlay on GW) For other VoIPs some guilds put them in their VoIP field in their wiki guild pages as their main vocal system rather than vent/ts. It is then obvious that their use is not that marginal and applies to GW. Elephant 23:36, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Existence of dominant VoIP doesn't mean alternative VoIP aren't viable and used. A quick check in Guild: namespace confirms this. One's habits tends naturally by social pressure and social environment to use only one or two types of VoIP. Well, from general perspective, you can't assume your own habits is what happens in general and for everyone, when all you do is following major trends. I do think these VoIPs are worth mentionning.

From what you said you probably ignore people are leaving TS for that Mumble, because of lower quality of TS (latency/sound) making it a bad competitor for Ventrilo. I can't say for other alternative VoIP I haven't tested yet(have you ?). The fact is people do you use them until you can prove the contrary. Elephant 09:58, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

Proof works the other way around. You prove people use them, I can't prove they don't. That's like saying "prove god doesn't exist," and since I can't, saying he surely must.

The point of the section is to show examples of voip programs commonly used by teams in Guild Wars, not to list every single one that a single person uses. That's why I said we're not wikipedia - a complete list of voip programs ever made is fine for them, but not for us. Go to ToA. Go to HA. When you join groups that have a voip program, what is it going to be 90% of the time? Ventrilo. During peak euro hours, you'll see teamspeak occasionally, but most of them use ventrilo now as well. Cluttering up the external links section with useless shit that is not popular cannot be defended by "but my tiny group of friends uses it!" Go to the towns yourself. Ask around. You'll find that vent and teamspeak are, by far the most commonly used voip programs (I'm not even talking about a small margin here, I mean a landslide), and for the purpose of the voip page on a guild wars wiki, that's all we need to list. -Auron 05:40, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

You're measuring average values using yourself and a couple of guys who are closely related to you. I hope you realize the fault in this. I myself have never heard of others than the ones Auron listed. We're not saying that people might not use whatever the hell they want, or that you're not allowed to use them, just that they're not worth mentioning. Is there an untold usage rate you are using as threshold to say they are not worth mentionning ? Because if that is the case, we actually need to discuss on that, because not everyone have same definition of "worth". Why bothering listing software links if you don't want it to be complete. We are not wikipedia, but if it is just to say that VoIP on GW is cool with ventrilo and vent and nothing else, there is no point of having this page on gww.
