User talk:Emily Diehl/Official Guild Wars 2 Wiki
If you're reading this page, you're likely a current Sysop, a current Bureaucrat, an extremely active Guild Wars Wiki contributor, someone who loves to comb the recent changes list, or someone who has noticed the link off of a Sysop or Bureaucrat's talk page. Or, er, someone who trawls recent changes :P --Snograt 20:24, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- My god, I just read that through and, boy, do I look an idiot >< --Snograt 20:25, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I'd just like to say I disagree with the semi-silent way this is being launched. Just like we tried to get all GuildWars communities involved when GWW was launched (and not merely GuildWiki), the same way we should try to get all GuildWars communities involved (and not just GWW). GW2W is going to be the official GuildWars wiki for years... we don't know how it'll end, but we should at least try to start it in a fair and balanced way. All these wikis have shown how difficult it is to change the foundations upon which everything else is based, so we should make an effort to give everyone a chance to be part of building those foundations. Just my two cents. --Dirigible 22:19, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- I'd be interested to hear what you guys think about this in detail. Our fears for announcing the site officially before any structure was applied to the page were largely due to the dangers of launching a blank wiki as "official" before any policy was established, any admins were in place, and while the wiki is in that new state of disarray. I know that we do plan to announce it officially and involve the entire community as it builds up. I suppose it's just a matter of the best time and place to do it. It's a lot easier to launch a website than it is to launch a brand new, user-editable experience. In any case, I know that I (and others) would be really curious to see what you guys think we should do from here. -- Emily Diehl (talk) 22:39, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
