Guildwars.com error
Hey I know this is more of a thing for Emily but she mentioned she had tons and tons of work on her plate (April update and all) so I was thinking maybe it'd be better to put this here! On www.guildwars.com if you click the Guild ladder link in the lower left, it defaults to the German language instead of the English language. Relatively minor I guess since you can easily switch it, but just throwing it out there. DarkNecrid 16:10, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. If you've mentioned this to Emily, you've mentioned it to the right person. I am unable to make changes to the website, so please hold tight for someone from the Web Team to get that fixed. Thanks for your report! -- Gaile 19:22, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- No problem :). Seems it has been fixed. Thanks! :D DarkNecrid 19:26, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
Contest
Hello.
I would like to create a contest that may be of interest for some players. But i first need to know a few things:
1 - If i give up to 1000k to the winner, will i be permanently banned ?
2 - Would you be able and willing to assist me in verifying that the winner completed a certain task in the conditions fixed by the rules of this contest ?
Sincerely yours. Yseron - 86.209.198.5 21:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, Yseron. That sounds like a fun project. :) I think I need to ask you to get in touch with the community team about this. Can you do that? Thanks. -- Gaile 21:30, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for you quick answer. I will try to contact
ReginaMartin first, althought i'm not sureshehe got enough time to spare for this. Again, thanks. Yseron - 86.209.198.5 21:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for you quick answer. I will try to contact
- Throw your enchantments in the trash bin, forget your titles, put those consumables away. In one month a player will have the opportunity to win 1000K. Anyone will be welcome to spread the word once i will have posted the eligibility / rules / other details, and a public announcement. Yseron - 90.14.228.141 11:31, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Sent in my Krewe Application!
Here's to hoping that I might be a Krewe member! ^^ I won't be too heartbroken if I can't get in, but getting in would be totally awesome. Katherinezoltin 23:09, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- I've sent in mine to, but like always I hope for it but I don't expect to get in, bad luck is my middle name. One thing I dislike tho is the fact that they don't send you an e-mail if you aren't accepted, a simple e-mail with the words "Request Denied", "Unlucky", "Failure to communicate", or "Letters don't reject people. We do!!!" would be better then no e-mail at all :). Qaletaqa Hania 17:42, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- They will probably announce that they finished choosing candidates, and if you weren't notified that you were chosen, then that's that. I don't see a problem with this, it's rather common to handle thousands of applicants this way. Rose Of Kali 18:23, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I know it's common to handle it that way but never said it was bad, just said I dislike it :). I understand why they don't send one back, it's time consuming. Anyway, this is what I would do: make a standard reply, something like a picture with a sad looking asura leaning against a whiteboard saying in some funny way that you are not "picked out" to join the Test Krewe, or just a picture of an asura with his head down turning/walking away, so you can see his back, and that they can put a red "Rejected!" stamp on it. Nothing to personal, no name on it or anything, but something is better then nothing.

- Anyway the reason why I dislike it is because I get frustrated when I don't know the answer to a question, gonna stop here because I would give an explanation on why I get frustrated with questions :D. Qaletaqa Hania 01:55, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- What is Krewe? -- Tha Reckoning 02:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- Krewe = Crew. And as I said, they will probably announce that they have finalized their decisions and notified the "chosen," so you will know that you weren't picked just by the fact that you didn't get any reply by the time of that announcement, no unanswered questions here. Rose Of Kali 02:17, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I see a couple of questions here. The Guild Wars Live Team Krewe is a group of volunteers who will be testing Guild Wars. It is not a test group for Guild Wars 2. (Hence "Guild Wars Live" in the name. :) ) Krewe members may test skill updates, mission or quest tweaks, that sort of thing. As I understand it, those who are selected will receive an email, but due to the large number of applicants it is unlikely that there will be any sort of "thanks, but no thanks" email sent to the others. I understand and sympathize with your thoughts, Qal, but having applied for a few beta tests and other such opportunities in the past, it truly is standard practice -- and about the only feasible way to handle the sheer volume -- to inform the accepted applicants only. It's rather like submitting a contest entry, and you don't generally get an email saying you didn't win the prize. :)
All the best to each of you who applied -- I hope you make it! -- Gaile 05:09, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- Gaile, it's been over a week now, do you know when we should be expecting an email? I'd hate to wait a month for no response. Katherinezoltin 20:26, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Katherine -- I had thought it would be a few weeks, but hey, I'm just assuming that randomly and do not know the official timeline. Let me check for you. I'll post as soon as I hear! :) -- Gaile 20:29, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- @Gaile: I know it truly is standard practice, I have applied for dozens of closed beta tests to and was only selected for 1-2. I even written down a way so that it would not be more time consuming to let everyone know whether they are accepted or not for when or if I would design a game, the only thing that would require some time is making two responses instead of one, but I can't make that suggestion here so...
- Anyway I hope i'm selected, I have to much free time and boredom is driving me crazy. Qaletaqa Hania 22:23, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks Gaile, I know its not your department so I appreciate you finding out for me. The reason I asked was because I got my rejection letter one week after I sent in my application for the Live Team Designer job so I was wondering if it would be sooner or later. Speaking of that job, saw Linsey's new journal entry, have you met the new guy yet? Seems like the rejection email was right when they said "more qualified people", he's got me beat. (Reset indent) Here's the latest from our Live Team meeting: Applications to join the Guild Wars Live Test Krewe are still being accepted. An announcement will be made before the application process is closed, so you could watch for that announcement on the website and/or wiki. After the application period, Krewe members will be selected and notified within the following few weeks.
So there's a bit of time yet to apply, and then I'd give at least a week or two before those who are on the Krewe get notified. I hope that is helpful info. :) -- Gaile 20:26, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Question about Contest
hey gaile do you know if the henchmen skillbars are allowed to have skills from secondary professions? InfestedHydralisk 00:02, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's my understanding that yes, they can. Let me find a link for you. Will update! :) -- Gaile 00:04, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yep yep, Martin said on both Guru and GWO that dual profession bars are just fine. -- Gaile 00:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- bleh i already submitted 2 non-secondary bars =/ InfestedHydralisk 00:07, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hey, that doesn't mean dual-profession bars are required, only that they are acceptable. :) -- Gaile 00:10, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- glad to hear that :) InfestedHydralisk 00:14, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- now my other problem is my character names are all from StarCraft >.<, but i guess something could be done with Infested Kerrigan I lol InfestedHydralisk 00:18, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm sure your names will be great -- in fact, it'd be fun to have the challenge of paying homage without directly using them. :)
- And hey, btw, if you could, update your post to say that "Gaile relayed that Martin had said secondaries are ok." Just so it's clear the info came originally from Martin, ok? Thanks. -- Gaile 00:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- oh so your allowed to name a henchmen yourself, or am i getting that wrong now?
- and i will ;) InfestedHydralisk 00:52, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps I misread it. I thought it said that the henchmen would be named in your honour. For instance, your name might be Fred Smith and they might name the NPC something like Phree Zmiff or the like. I'll have to reread the rules. :) -- Gaile 01:00, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
