Ideas for GW
Hello! I am unsure if this is where I could post something about this, but I would like to say hello to you either way. I haven't seen you yet while playing GW or as the frog, so /hello and /wave :) While I was playing the other day I realized I had quite a lot of ideas/suggestions I would offer for the GW staff so if you could pass any of these along that would be great. If there is a special page for that, I am sorry to bug you here as I didn't know where else to post it (rather than on my userpage which I don't think many people look at but me hehe).
Changes/Ideas I Would Like To See:
- Hair stylist. I know it has been said it would be too hard to do, but I would still love to see this!
- Auction House of some form, even if it is a shop you can have on your character people can browse it would be better than shouting (I detest shouting to sell).
- New armor in all the types for characters which don't have it now. For instance, the exotic armor is a repeat of an old one for elementalists, and dervishes and paragons can't get any in Prophecies or Factions etc (I like armor).
- I really want the Hall of Monuments to be able to take armor sets as well.
- Tome Trader. Functions like a Rune Trader, but with tomes!
- Dye and Tome Storage in the same manner material storage is now.
- Armor closet (and maybe weapons too) for your characters which lets you store your armor - maybe have to pay a small amount or something per set. This would help tremendously though!
- Weekend event which gives a break to those after the cartographer title. All areas not explored show up in red (so you don't have to keep going over the same spots to find your percentage is still the same).
- If there is a new build that becomes available while in a mission or area, you can still get back there if you disconnect. As it is now, if someone DC's they can't get back in and you have to do it all over again.
- The ability to name your hero's pets.
- Expand the amount of people you can add to the Ignore list as well as Friends list. 10 is just not enough for ignore when people get out of hand easily in AB or even in elite mission areas... not to mention the spammers of selling.
- Expand the amount of gold you can place in storage.

- Gailes talk page is not a suggestion page. Suggestions should be posted on fan forums such as gwguru or gwonline. This page is for wiki related matters and personal discussion of Gaile, not game related suggestions/support/etc. :) -- (gem / talk) 13:55, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Which forum/pages are looked at though by GW staff? Would it be a good idea to make a page for such things on wiki.... it would be easier for them to look at maybe. Foxysheri 14:39, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Both guildwarsguru and gwonline have a suggestions forums which the Anet staff members read actively. They read everything, although they usually don't reply to any messages there.
- What comes to a wiki suggestion system, one has been discussed several times, but consensus has either been against it or no suitable method has been found. Forums are far better suited for stuff like that as Anet is not only interested in the ideas themselves, but also in the amount of support that the ideas get, which is hard to find out in a wiki. -- (gem / talk) 15:53, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- A suggestions page was brought up and discussed over a month ago. You can find the archived discussion here. It was brought up by Alaris and Alaris has set up a user subpage for suggestions. -- ab.er.rant 17:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think that an "Edit" button on the account menu would be nice. So you can change any characters appearance, gender, and name without changing any of their stats and accomplishments. Also, profession and birthplace would un-changable through the feature.Blackie ewilson92 18:35, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am going to leave this for a bit and then archive this section. I need to encourage everyone to please use the fan forums for suggestions, as mentioned above. I am investigating the possibility of some sort of suggestion system for the GWW, but that may take a bit, and in the meantime, I don't want this talk page to become a de facto Suggestions Box. Thank you for understanding. --Gaile 18:41, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Trade Channel
I dont know if this is the right area to put this Gaile Gray, but I dont like one of the two systems used to broadcast what you are trading/buying from other players. In busy areas, the chat becomes unreadable as everyone is forced to use the trade channel and I rarely get to sell or buy anything! The system that I like is the little search button under the party screen. It shows what people are selling throughout all districts, and it is shown in a simple list that is easy to read and is not constantly scrolling upwards at an unreadable rate. I know you already know all of this, but is there a way to get people to use it more often? or remove the trade channel? or something? I hope that made sense. thanks. Polish District?
Unofficial GuildWiki quote: Polish districts will appear when Polish developer CD-Projekt sells 10,000 to 15,000 copies of Guild Wars. The release of these districts will likely coincide with the release of Guild Wars Eye of the North. Gaile/Frog Talk/20070307: No word yet on Polish districts. I have asked, but there's no answer at this time.
Are they some news in that case? --Gret 07:49, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi there, Gret. I've never heard of such a measure being set for a new language-based type of district. It is news to me if that is true. I will see if I can get more information and report when I do. --Gaile 08:06, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Digging about on GuildWiki a bit, it seems the quote comes from http://guildwars.gram.pl/index.php?aid=43 specifically the 6th question and answer. Running it through a translator (since I for one don't know Polish), it does seem to say something along those lines, for however much that means. - Tanetris 13:35, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Interesting find, Tanetris! I will ask about that today, as I have no idea what the CD Projekt person is talking about, and naturally he's quite a bit removed from the people who ultimate would decide about and then implement the matter: ArenaNet. As I said, I just haven't heard such a thing. Let me post again if I find out more. --Gaile 19:43, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- http://www.gry-online.pl/S013.asp?ID=32166 Ponadto przedstawiciel CDP wyjawił nam kiedy powstaną dystrykty dedykowane wyłącznie Polakom. - which means "Besides, representative of CDP has disclosed when polish districts will appear". I can't see date or something like that coz it's "pay to see". Also http://www.gram.pl/news_8AzfHO1_Guild_Wars_PL_polskie_serwery_rusza_w_sobote.html
"Polish servers will start in Saturday - news has been added at Friday, 8 december 2006" - whatever this news means something like "We already working(AN + CDP) about that becouse we have Technical troubles. Hope it will help too --Gret 06:14, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

- Aye, right! (That's not real, folks, just a "doctored" image.) :) --Gaile 18:46, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Photoshp ftw! :) I hope we will get more info about this case in your next log :) Coz i don't know what's a suituation ArenaNet - CDProjekt... sometimes i think the CDProjekt is lies becouse AN don't know anything about polish districts... ;F --Gret 19:58, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
The Rest of the GW World
Do the developers plan on doing anything about areas of the map that have obvious potential, but have been largely ignored? Some examples include (with example theme in italic parentheses):
- Orr (Full of undead, more like a collection of sunken wetlands now. Sinkholes, and steaming vents of fel magicks abound.)
- The mountains that separate Ascalon and the Desert (Sharp, dry, and harsh crags full of semi-human tribes)
- North of Maguuma, and Giants Basin (To be included in GW2? Home of the Sylvari, sooo... elvish?)
- The islands south of Shing Jea (Olde Canthan style. Like Pongmei Valley. Tengu filled.)
- Mountains north and souht of Jade Sea. (Isolated, Cold, and blizzard warped version of the Crags. Think the Carpathian mountains)
- Mountains, countryside and city west of Echovald (Temperate mountain... think Mt. Fuji.)
- Archipelagos on western Elona (Caribbean theme. Sandy beaches, coral reefs.)
- Large mountain and volcano on western Elona (More or less like a verdant rain forest on a steeply sloped mountainside.)
- Plateaus east of Elona's Barbarous Shore (Think of the Grand Canyon. Plenty of colorful potential.)
Of course we already know you will include the Far north shiverpeaks, tarnished coast, and the northlands. But what about the rest of the map? There is so much story that could be told there! At the very least, relay the idea to the devs. Counciler 10:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- As GW2 plays in Tyria (some years later) I think there will be a lot to explore of this in GW2 ;) poke | talk 10:40, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think so too, since the words "The World" were prominently displayed on the front of the magazine exclusive. But it would provide PLENTY for the GW1 ArenaNet team to do whilst waiting for the main team to finish GW2. Not only that, but I would pay money to see those large areas of the map unveiled. I'm thinking of some profits to be made? Perhaps through the online store? *hint hint* Counciler 10:44, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- You should know by now that you're not really going to get any conclusive response from Gaile or the developers. It's obviously logical to assume that the developers, game designers, lore writers all have these ideas filed somewhere, whether in an internal database, paper documents, or just in their heads. In any case, neither Gaile nor the developers are going to say anything more than something like "Yea, we have some ideas for this and that, but nothing concrete yet." -- ab.er.rant 15:16, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

gw.dat file format
I understand that you're tentatively okay with benign modding in general, but I thought I'd ask how you (i.e. ArenaNet) feels about this page Gw.dat_file_format in particular. Cloud 04:08, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think there's a mistake at the very core. I don't understand our statement to be that "we're ok with modding." I believe what we have communicated is that we will not action those who mod, if it can be established that the mod has no negative effect on gameplay or on other players. We've made it clear we'll not support those who do use third-party programs, and so forth. Please keep in mind -- there is a difference between the active "approval" and the passive, "we will not action (if you meet the requirements of 'no harm')." Having said that, because you have asked specifically about this page, I have request internal clarification about it and will let you know. Please bear in mind, no one can speak for ArenaNet and no one has information that is not on the GWW itself. Therefore, implied permission based on hearsay or upon someone's interpretation of fact is without value. --Gaile 17:53, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

- Cloud, according to Mike O'Brien, one of the three co-founders, this page is ok to post in the GWW body. I want to thank you personally for your kind consideration and your respectful questions and actions. (Frankly, you rock!) If you need me to post this acceptance of the page's general GWW placement in any other location, I'm happy to do so. Thanks a ton. --Gaile 02:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Cartographer
I have a slight question about this, since the map of Tyria has been 'inscreased' to say it like that, how would the Tyrian Carthographer title track be?, Would take be reset and your (if you have it) 100% Title be removed to lets say uuhm.. 60%? that would be very annoying to people who finnaly got the title at 100%, or would there be a new Cartographer Title just for that part?. Just to tease you a bit more i have another question, why can't we have new elite skills in GW:EN? =(, like a-a-a uuhm.. Avatar of Abaddon, Spear Barrage xD, no but really why aren't there Elite Skills in GW:EN same reason as the Cartographer? File:Tomoko's Cookie.jpg Tomoko 18:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Its likely Tyrian Cartographer will be left alone and new title for the Gw:en will be in place. As those who have only NF and/or Factions wont be able to max it, if became as suggested. Biz 19:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- That's probably a question for Izzy. I'm a bit disappointed that we'll probably never get any Command or Water Magic elites that are good in PvE, or a Spear Mastery version of Barrage, but Elementalists get Elemental Attunement, Paragons get "There's Nothing to Fear!" and all the professions are getting some really nice non-elite skills, so I don't really mind the lack of new elites. -- Gordon Ecker 22:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- well the cartographer title for gw:en could be separated from tyria. however there is another way this could work :P cause prophecies and gw:en are in a way separate from eachother. im just speculating here but, since this is in fact an expansion, and there are no elites, and they keep talking about multilevel dungeons (dont think ive seen them say missions anywhere)...maybe there wont be any new titles to gain with gw:en. that means when owning prophecies you have to explore gw:en to get 100% of tyria again (since it is the same continent) and when you dont own prophecies you only have to explore gw:en for 100% tyria. as i said just speculations but doesnt sound too impossible. -ArcticWind 22:50, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

- Let me just say that we don't like the idea of "taking away" a title, once someone has gained it. We have some ideas for how to reward players with new attainments while not reducing those they have already achieved. I'll see if we have more to say about the matter, but for now, I hope that this is helpful info. :) --Gaile 02:50, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Im gonna interpret this as "you will all keep your tyria grandmaster cartographer title and the rest you will find out when the game gets out" ;) -ArcticWind 03:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Does that mean that also the legendary titles won't be touched? That will feel kinda weird since you get the legendary skill hunter title for finishing all campaign specific skill hunter titles. I know there are no new elite skills in GW:EN but just used the above title for comparison. - Damadmoo 03:12, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, since this is unreleased content, I'm going to go conservative in the answers, but I will see if there is more information to share! --Gaile 03:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Might I suggest an "Impossibly Awesome Tyrian Cartographer" Title?(Which exceeds 100%) =DBlackie ewilson92 04:33, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Totally love the idea -- maybe I can get the designers to add "Totally Awesome Sweet Tooth of Dooooom" for me, too, eh? ;) --Gaile 05:06, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- After 10,000 points? Possibly at 100,000 points? A million? "Totally Awesome Sweet Tooth of Dooooom" just doesn't cut it. It's gotta be "Demonic Avatar of Sugar Decay (Sweet Tooth Variety)"! --Kale Ironfist 07:10, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hehe great that you answered my question, so the actual title won't be increased, that would leave 2 options, New Title or No Title, although i wouldn't mind as well get more elite skills in Eye of the North, but you can do this as well.. Eye of the North Cartographer which does NOT include for Legendary Cartographer, this way no one loses his title and you can gain another title, although i don't know how big the add-on will be and if it's necessary to add a new title if the area is too small for it, at least besides the Dungeons. ooh something just shot in my mind... Legendary Dungeon Vanquisher ^^ oh well.. at least i'm hoping for some more skills because the Fire Magic only gained 1 skill :( not much of a add-on right? But i'll just wait and see thank you for answering. File:Tomoko's Cookie.jpg Tomoko 10:13, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- We are talking about the new title(-s), huh ;> ? I wonder if it's possible to add titles that I mentioned here (basing on quest completing/XP gathering). I'd love to know your opinion, Gaile (and others, too ;D ), but I decided to put that topic in GWEN's Talk page. That's the first thing.
- In addition, I'd like to ask - can we send similar questions via support tickets? The support page says: "a query about the upcoming title". But... I'm not sure what does it exactly mean - are all questions allowed, or just the technical ones (like "What will be the system requirements for GWEN?")? MonkOfWar 15:52, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Given that it's supposed to be technical support, it will be limited to account-related questions. It's not like the developers and game designers report what they're planning to do to the Customer Service people you know.... -- ab.er.rant 16:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Support is there to help with technical issues or with account support. Support is not part of the development team, and cannot answer questions regarding development, nor can that team accept suggestions, either. We do not have a suggestions area at this time. For suggestions about Guild Wars -- any of the three campaigns or the expansion pack -- we invite you to post in the many suggestion threads on our fan forums. We read the forums daily and although we do not respond to each thread, you can be sure that we do see the suggestions, and we read the follow-up comments from other players as well, to weigh the overall thoughts on the ideas. Thanks for asking. --Gaile 17:30, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Big thanks for your reply :) ! It seemed logic for me that support tickets are for typical support-nature questions - just wanted to make it clear :) . And about the suggestions - I'm gonna post them on Guru or somewhere (I see positive opinions on my idea here, on Wiki, so...). MonkOfWar 18:28, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I know what Gaile says is true. I had suggested long ago in the forums that we should see Pet dmg and maybe even our party dmg in a different color. Feed back was not bad from the forums. Some thought the party dmg would be overload. I am not sure if my thread lead to it or if it was also suggested previously but few weeks later. It appeared. I felt all warm and fuzzy inside at that moment ;) Chik En 15:28, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

- Hello, Tomoko. I have an answer for you: Yes, according to the designers, there will be unique "Green" items in GW:EN. I posited a theory about possible items for a certain boss, but the design room said it was a bit too soon to get specific on greens for the new monster leaders. (You have to admit, though, the "Molotov Rocktail Magnum Lightsaber of Dooom" would be very cool! Or maybe not. ;) --Gaile 04:48, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Hero/Hench AI Questions
Hi Gaile, Where can we give suggestions for the hero/hench AI? Whose talk page, or whereabouts? There are some conceptually simple (har har, conceptually simple is never really simple) changes that would make Hard Mode with Heroes 10,000x better ~ right now it's really frustrating to watch your heros empty their energy casting prot spirit on your minions, and we all know that Prot+Minions == pve <3 - right now it flat out fails to work. --Pork soldier 10:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Izzy is in charge of skills. Funny you mentioned Prot Spirit, because there already is talk about that XD — Poki#3 11:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Just be really quiet about the whole Mending thing, ok? I do not want Izzy taking a bite out of my full-team Mending Spike strategy. And you: shhhhhhhh! ;p --Gaile 04:36, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Mending spike? puh-leez, Echo-Mending will have it worse off. And with this preview of GW:EN skills... Hamstorm anyone? Surely that will come back into the meta. --Kale Ironfist 05:04, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Frankly, Froggie and I are hoping for the whole "I will amend you" strat. ;) --Gaile 05:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- See, the problem with that strat, is that it relies on your team to do poorly to win. What if you're doing better than the other team? It'd totally backfire. That's why I recommend "It's just a wiki wound.". Sure, the effects aren't as noticeable, but when there's a problem, it gets fixed quite quickly. "Glasses Up!" really helps against blind, since that's the only thing "It's just a wiki wound." can't fix. Still, it's a bit unfair that the devs get to totally abuse the "I Will Amend You!", "For Great Justice!", "There's Nothing to Fear!", "For Great Justice!" spam going around, raising their morale and efficiency by 50%, something players can't get. Oh sure, we've got the trickle down effect, but it's just not up to par. Heck, Izzy even has his own "That Was Deliberate!" confusing us all. It'd be totally cool if we could capture "The Power is Ours!" from Izzy, but he MAKES the skills, and he'd slaughter us by making one up on the spot and using it against us. Even if we took "You'll pay for this, Captain Planet!", he'd bring the planeteers to his aid, and you all know villains always get their comeuppance.
- ^ I need to get off the computer and enjoy fresh air for the next 24 hours. My head is spinning from the utter ridiculousness of this post. :P --Kale Ironfist 06:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- The problem is, I understood every word. :)
- One thing you've forgotten: The whole secret CRM-only "Avatar of Chocolate." Ok, we don't talk about it much, and I've yet to invoke it within screenshot capture range, but the whole steaming hot fudge effect, resulting in both damage, crippling, and interruption in a true character melt-down, which layers nicely with the "Triple Chocolate Brownies of Death" melee attack which makes for a combination that, if it doesn't kill 'em, results in at least a 48% increase in "Tooth Decay," the pain of which layers for increased confusion, distraction, slow-down, and petulance that rises by a tidy 10% per attribute point. --Gaile 06:55, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Gaile! Jeez! That was a secret. -rolleyes- -File:Drago-sig.gif Drago 08:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- 970% does sound formidable. Well, you can no longer exclaim "其れは秘密です!". --Kale Ironfist 10:19, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- Gaile! Jeez! That was a secret. -rolleyes- -File:Drago-sig.gif Drago 08:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Seriously, do I talk to Izzy about skill (mis)use by the AI, or is that a topic I talk about elsewhere? There are some some behaviors where the AI is absolutely stellar (leech sig, power drain, res sigs, WoH) and there are others (like misuse fo prot spirit & ihex, infusing minions, totally failing at ZB, not using warriors endurance) where the AI fails miserably --Pork soldier 11:30, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- What about the Spellbreaker thing! That makes me lol because they're so nooby and out of energy afterwards. :> - BeX 12:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think that each skill has a discussion page. I would encourage you to post AI-related feedback on skills on those discussion pages. Today I was traveling around Tyria because I found that my map lacked a few spots and some interesting places. While in the Northern Shiverpeaks I came upon a Minotaur. He had this strange aura of power you sometimes find on truely remarkable creatures, yet I could not put a name to him. So I politely asked him which name I should write on his urn once I was done incinerating him. He laughed at me and told me he was called "Groza Frosthorn" ... and that he would crush me. Needles to say, he failed at that.
Or to put it less RP'ish: there's still a couple of boss monsters around in Tyria that don't have a name. I think they should get one. Maybe you can convince the Devs to help those poor creatures obtain a name. Either from suggestions in the forums/wiki, older "Brand the Boss" contests - or maybe make another BtB contest for these "oldies". ;) Some unnamed bosses I stumbled upon (though I'm sure there are more of them):
- The above mentioned Minotaur warrior boss, located in the Frost Gate mission as well as the west side of Anvil Rock
- A Snow Ettin warrior boss in Gryphon's Mouth (I call him "Hump Hump" for the time being ;) )
- A Jade Bow boss in Ice Floe
What do you think, Gaile - shouldn't those Oldsters get a name? Xelonir 14:07, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- I think that'd be a really nice contest. For what it's worth there's an unnamed Ettin monk boss in Griffon's Mouth too, though he needs more love than just a name - he doesn't have any skills either! --NieA7 14:26, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

- I think there are three groups here. 1. The Bone Dragon; used to have a name. 2. Ice Floe; I think this one may be intentional, as there is exactly one of each unit of the Mursaat army, who has identical skills with normal units. This serve as a point to capture those elite skills a player sees noraml units using. 3. NorthWest Shiverpeeks. Can't help but think 'unfinished work' here. Most bosses not only lack a name of their own, but also have limited or no skills. Backsword 18:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- The Priest of Dagnar is a good example, with no skills whatsoever. The name seems too important to have no skills, why not have him throw water spells at us? --Valentein 15:54, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Unique
When I read the last couple of terms is that there would probably won't be Elite Skills and the Cartographer is left alone with GW:EN in Tyria, now am I thinking, are there Unique items also known as Green Items in GWEN? This is not really a important question so answer it when you have time for it :) File:Tomoko's Cookie.jpg Tomoko 22:09, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

"Character development beyond level 20"
I'd like to ask - are there any news about this GWEN feature? I know, level cap will remain 20. But... I wonder, what does "Character development beyond level 20" exactly mean - special points used for something? Additional Attribute Points (I don't think so, as it would be very big impact to current builds and everything)? Or maybe it just means raising character's reputation with 4 races/gathering new skills? Something else? Because I use only 1 character, male Ranger, I'd love to see some new EXTRA EPIC & EXTRA EXPENSIVE (EE&EE) possibilities for him :P . And I don't mean any "Sw33t & L33t Tooth of Doomination & Pwnage" title. But... hmm... it sounds quite good :D !
And... what about the new divine realms? Could you reveal any details about/deny adding them (obviously the first option is desired ;) )? To those who don't know what I am talking about: head here. MonkOfWar 08:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

- DoA is abaddon's realm basicly...but since abaddon is dead now i dont count it as a divine realm. i see a divine realm like the ones you go to via temple of ages and those other places, which are core and accessible from each campaign :P...maybe a "Melandru's Forrest" realm or something would be cool :D -ArcticWind 20:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I asked in the design room, and nobody really recognized the reference to "character development beyond level 20." I mean, that could be a reference to the Hall of Monuments. Or, yes, reputation with the various groups, such as Norn and Charr. Can you give me some context for the statement so I can ask again? --Gaile 05:05, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- My guess is that he means is why are we still lvl 20 in pve? and for people who owned all 3 campaigns and killed shiro twice and the lich twice and abbadon I highly doubt that a lvl 20 canthan guard is the same *level* as us. He probly wants to know if pve charcters are gonna get special ablities in GW:EN, for beating one of the campaigns or all three. Like what the ai bosses have passive health regen or extra attb points for pve only. Thats what Monk of War wants to know. For my idea to fix this you could make PVE charcters have special ablitys in pve only area's like lvl 24 in thunderheadkeep but once they they load into a PVP area there attbs are set back to lvl 20 and set on par with regualy pvp people. So pve characters won't have an advantage in pvp maps. Like Isaid before i highy doubt a lvl 20 guard at a town or out post would be the same level as a person who defeated a god.--Killer of Good 17:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- No, I remember someone saying something about "Character developement beyond level 20" But it's most likely going to be these reputations, by which developing you might make some skills more powerful. Could be that the hint was meant for GW2 :) 84.250.180.45 17:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- It was mentioned in that PC Gamer article, I believe. Someone had mentioned EotN would feature "Character development beyond level 20", but had later stated that the level cap was still 20, it was something else that he had meant. We can only assume it was meant to refer to the Hall, or possibly more titles... if I can dig up the name of the guy who said it, that might help (or if one of you guys could, then I could just continue being lazy). -- Jioruji Derako.> 19:29, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- I can't find the original context of that statement, as it was given at the beginning of "GWEN & GW2 heat". GWWiki says: "James Phinney has stated that Eye of the North will involve character development beyond level 20, however Gaile Gray has clarified that this extended character development will not increase the actual level cap.". And... I remember that I have read something about it on GWGuru, but can't find this particular topic (about PC Gamer's article etc.) now. MonkOfWar 16:09, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Year GW:EN takes place?
Hi, Gaile. I was wondering when GW:EN takes place. It's said that it's six years after Prophecies. Is that six years after the Searing (1070 AE) or six years after the bulk of Prophecies (1072)? --Heelz 15:43, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm fairly sure it's 6 years after the searing. Let me check on that for you. --Gaile 21:11, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- According to the trailer it is 6 years after Gwen's "world burned" so I would guess it is after the searing. --Rainith 22:02, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
- It took a little bit of running around because there have been some inconsistencies but the word is that GW:EN takes place 3 years since Nightfall, 6 years since the bulk of Prophecies and 8 years since the Searing itself. - Linsey talk 00:55, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Borders
I was wondering when will the border be dropped on inscribable weapons? The borders were dropped on the "insignia runes for armor" and also dropped for the "Material storage panel". I realize it could just be marketing delay's to drive sales. With GW:EN so soon, when can we expect the remaining borders to be dropped that seperate the chapters? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Chik En .
- Borders?Blackie ewilson92 01:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm interpreting it in a metaphorical "world-without-borders" kind of way, as in "When will inscribable weapons be available across all campaigns and not just Nightfall?" though I could be wrong and Chick En's just got a graphics card issue. =P - Thulsey - talk 01:27, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- That would cause a bigger market crash than the introduction of Hard Mode! I may be wrong here but i think i remember someone (possibly Gaile but don't quote me) saying that they aren't going to make Tyrian and Canthan weapons inscribable. I might be wrong but i definately remember something being said about it, I'm sure Gaile will correct me. --ChronicinabilitY 01:30, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- I hope they do make them available to all campaigns. The concept of adding another 30-100k to an item JUST because it came from Elona is retarded. Some of us don't have that kind of money, and some of us don't have Nightfall. If by 'market crash', you mean prices will drop and the market is flooded with previously rare and desirable weapons.... BRING IT ON. I'm sick of having to cough out extra dough because it's inscribable. Counciler 06:44, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- actually i think non inscribable perfect weapons are more rare and therefor more expensive. when it comes to inscribable all you have to do is find a req 9 and that isnt really hard (besides elemental, collosal those type of swords) but then again i havent been active in the market for some time so i could be wrong :) -ArcticWind 11:42, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- But Arena Net already did this (partially, at least) - inscriptable Canthan weapons drop from the Urgoz and Kanaxai chests. I believe Arena Net could not do the same they did with armors (change all the current items to take inscriptions) since there are items that could not be possibly done with inscriptions at this time. But I would not be surprised if they soon added a chest to Tombs, when we kill the three Darknesses, giving Tyrian items with inscription slots. Besides, isn't this discussion more fitting to the Inscription page? Erasculio 12:01, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

- Inscribed weapons cost the same as non inscribed weapons if req, model and damage mod is the same. "Economy" isn't broken just money have more value now then before, Inscribable weapons made it possible for poor players like ^above^ to actuality afford req 9 15^50 golds. - First thing... Sorry about not signing my original comment... oops.. I swear I typed it. Thulsey, No I do not have a graphic card problem :) Within reason if people want it enough and it does not affect the balance of the world I am sure they would consider it eventually. And since they have BEGUN putting out inscribably weapons in Cantha... it can not be far along for the rest I imagine. So I think it is only a matter of WHEN? Not a matter of IF! But I could be wrong :) Chik En 13:31, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
(Reset indent) I spoke with the design team this evening, and they tell me that they are still discussing the issue of inscribable weaponry. The fact is, it would make many people happy, and would make another group quite unhappy. I don't know what the answer will be, and in fact the rest of the team does not either, at this point. But do know that it's still under discussion. I would say that, with GW:EN out in just four weeks, it's less likely to happen this month than later, if it happens at all. However, that's just a guess on my part. --Gaile 04:53, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- Gaile, I do hope they know that the community that will be unhappy is the VAST minority of players. A vocal minority though. I can't see how they can justify not implementing it for the sake of people with UB3R l33t G3Arz, a small portion of GW players, as opposed to implementing it and making the rest of the community happy. You know, the casual gamers. You know, the fanbase Anet says it caters to. -Rakeman 17:35, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- How can you say that Rakeman? You did a poll? I don't have a fix opinion on this but just to point out that it a tough one to judge. It's not just about hardcored gamers. Some small players could be lucky and get a rare one thinking that he finally got money to find out that the market wont offer him anything for it.Aratak 13:20, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- I wasn't going to link it here (I think it's rude to post here to say, "Gaile, look at this post in forum X!"), but since a poll was mentioned, here it is. Of course it's going to have a price to add inscriptions to the 2 games - the players who like to "play the market" and collect "perfect items" are going to complain. However, I think it would make the game better for the casual players (who happen to be the majority), those who would be happy as they would be far more likely to get the items they want than they are today. I think the logic here is the same as the one behind the drop in price of Superior Runes of Vigor: when those were 100k per rune, a player who found one would become instantly rich, but there were far more players willing to buy one than those who happened to find one. Now that such runes have fallen to 12k, the few players that get one as drop won't become instantly rich, but at the same time the majority of players are allowed to buy them much easier. - I love those interesting historical references; good searching, FireFox. :)
- I really regretted when we had to change the city's name. I thought Kyhlo had such a musical sound to it! However, here's a bit o' Guild Wars trivia for you: In some languages, the name "Kyhlo" sounds like "Cairo." Naturally, we wanted to keep away from real-world references on our our fantasy game world map. Therefore, we adopted a "temporary" name of "Ascalon City," while trying to come up with a final name. We had "name the city" threads flying around the company, and a lot of good ideas were suggested. But in the end, Ascalon City never got changed. I am not sure if the fact it wasn't changed was a result of the "temporary" name simply becoming too ingrained in everyone's minds, or perhaps it was moved into the localization process after which a change wasn't possible, or maybe in the end the writers felt that was the best option. But Ascalon City it became, and so it shall remain.
- Speaking of localization, and names, you don't even what to know the story about Captain Greywind. *sniff* --Gaile 18:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
