You helped make me with a navigation template for my general stuff and characters. Do you think you could help me with making an orange-black themed one? User:Vanguard/Navbar and User:Vanguard/Charbar. I could make a sandbox page for you to play in if you'd like. I've got them relatively close to completion, just been having some internet/network issues and this is actually the first time I've been able to properly get on the wiki since my last message above. once again, could you (or just any sysop reading) remove the old version of my background image (Image:User_Y0_ich_halt_Bg1.jpg)? it messes with cache again. interestingly, every first time i load the page, the old image is shown. once i refresh cache once, the new one is displayed... - Y0_ich_halt 16:20, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

I've been meaning to do this since we got a transcript up, but whatever the case, we finally have the Empire Divided section of the Factions Prima Guide transcribed from the scanned images. Timestamps and edit histories

I saw this edit summary, you can make the times in the history match the signature timestamps by blanking the offset in the time zone section of your date & time preferences. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 03:50, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I was aware that I could change it so they are both the same and normally it's not a problem, I just sometimes forget about converting the timestamp; more often it's when using the unsigned template that I do it with. As to the Helpers page Poke, I just keep forgetting to take care of it but I'll add myself in to a few of them for now and decide about the others. --Kakarot 14:18, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Official image format: from .png to .gif

I have seen you are administrator. I want to know if it's possible to change all .png files in .gif (or create a second version in .gif) cause Internet Explorer doesn't recognize the trasparency of first format (.png) and all images have a background white, black or azure. Which browser do you currently use, I know Internet Explorer 6 (and probably previous ones too) has some issues with not supporting PNG transparency if I recall correctly and IE7 should have the images show up fine; at least they do for me with IE7 (had to check since I almost never use Internet Explorer to view the wiki). This question has actually come up before on the talk page of the main page a few times; the latest one being here and if I remember correctly the reason that they won't changed to GIFs is because GIFs don't support alpha blending. If you are using IE6 I'd definitely recommend upgrading to IE7 if you wish to stay with Internet Explorer as your browser, mainly because IE6 has some serious security holes as well as not supporting a number of W3C standards. --Kakarot 04:50, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

We don't have an "official image format". We support .jpg, .png and .gif, in order of preference. Try using a different browser and you'll suddenly realise how much you've been missing in terms of useful features ;) (hint: try Firefox :P) -- ab.er.rant 06:23, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I use IE6 (cause i don't like IE7) and Firefox3 to see how it shows pages of my sites. Since 20% of people still use IE6 and 26,6% IE7 (i don't know if there is a problem with .png in ie7 too), i only have suggested you if it was possible to change images format or add a second format, instead of telling the people to change browser :D. It's not as if the images are completely broken, they just won't look as nice. If someone is still running an older version of a browser, it's their choice; PNG is a web standard now, and much more efficient than GIF for images which aren't large blocks of a single color. I have not made sense of well perhaps. When I create a page (I speak in general and not only for wiki) I try to do it in such way that the visitors visualize it in equal way (with the different browsers). So i realized that .png don't work well, that's all. I don't now know what the advantages of the format .png are, but it seems that it creates problems because, if I resize an image, the background from celestial becomes black (!!) or white (!) and it doesn't seem a small problem. Remember that i use ie6 only for testing pages. It was only a suggestion to go toward visitors. However i've seen that ie7 haven't this problem. I hope people take a better browser but is hard that change it only to see guild wiki. :D Highlander Immortal 11:27, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Maybe for this particular offense but I usually go by previous blocks when deciding a length. Yeah I know ... well I know now :) At the time I tagged it I was going through the gallery of new files as I often do and recalled seeing that logo before and remembered that it had been tagged for something although I couldn't remember what for, I then checked it out and saw that Indochine had tagged the logo as copyvio and since he knows copyright better than I do I tagged the new image as well since it contained said logo. --Kakarot 05:00, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

No I don't mind at all, good idea with the dpl use for adding archives since it means you never have to manually add it and no chance of forgetting :)

One change that could be made is to the orange as at first I found it a bit too bright, I came up with the colour ff9933 instead of ff9900 which seemed to dull it down a bit but not change the actual colour too much although maybe that's just me and others wouldn't notice the difference. --Kakarot 21:52, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Yep that's why I made the Archive automatically. I didnt want to edit that Page everytime I archive stuff (even tho its not that often since my Talk is not that active). Disadvantage is that you cant give them Different Titles and need to name the Page accordingly. But I didnt see that much of a Problem with that. About the Colors: I think it depends on the Screen of the User to a certain degree... I like that Color but I'll see how it changes with your suggestion. --SilentStorm 23:28, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
