First Impressions[edit]
First impression: Pink! I like the idea, but a little more festive colours and a little less My Little Pony would be fun. :p Biscuits 14:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, looks nice, maybe changing one of the canes and one of the presents for Spiked Eggnog and Fruitcake, for diversity :P --Rayd 14:57, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Aaagh please not pink!! Red, yes, but not pink! br12 • (talk) • 15:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Very nice, Lemming :) What about using Spiked Eggnog and Yuletide Tonic instead of one CC and one gift? poke | talk 15:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like the Wintergreen Candy Cane, but the Rainbow Candy Cane looks ...sickly. Don't like the "Main Event" present image either. br12 • (talk) • 15:18, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Heh I was just playing a bit this morning, I don't like the colour much either, I was thinking maybe of having a red/green mix of some sort. I was also going to see if someone could cap the inventory icon for the frosty the snowman festival hat as one of them. --Lemming 16:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oh and feel free to edit this page as you like. --Lemming 16:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think green/red would be more fitting. Perhaps just green. Vanguard16:38, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd say switch one of the presents for something else. — ク Eloc 貢 16:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I came up with two possible colours while working on one of the many GWW projects I have in progress, the red on Game Basics and the green on Gear and Equipment. I only did one section for each colour to show a comparison between the colours, if anyone else has any other possible colour suggestions they could maybe use one of the bottom sections. That way we can have a variety of colours and can choose the one that is best. --Kakarot 00:08, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- My suggestions in the left and mid bottom which use darker colours with lighter text. I'd have liked to have the link text to be green instead of blue, but I couldn't get the :link style tag to work from the div. The colour is probably a bit strong given what I've seen for consensus taste in colour here. :) -Aspectacle 02:52, 20 November 2007 (UTC)-
- I think the problem is that they are links Aspectacle. I was able to get them green by using the following code for the Storyline link: [[Storyline|<font color="green">Storyline</font>]] instead of [[Storyline]] and it worked fine. Hope you don't mind Lemming but I added a heading to this section to make it easier to add comments, hope that isn't against policy either :) --Kakarot 04:14, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like the idea of getting rid of the blue, but not enough to introduce hundreds of font tags. Yikes! Thanks Kakarot. :) -Aspectacle 05:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)-
- @Kakarot, this page is officially a free for all as far as I am concerned ;) play as much as you like. --Lemming 23:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

(Reset indent) After seeing the present version, I think it might look better with the Spiked Eggnog (Gear and Equipment) and the Wintergreen Candy Cane (PvP) images be switched around, the green candycane on a green background doesn't look too good. Also would it look better using caps for the first letter of each word; apart from and & vs; for the section titles. --Kakarot 16:45, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Just wanted to say it's looking great now. :) Biscuits 17:46, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
Different colours[edit]
I say we have it all in one colour scheme. What is everyone elses thoughts? — ク Eloc 貢 00:41, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd say for the final design it could look good with a red/green mixed colour scheme although it might look better with just one or the other. It all depends on the colours chosen, with the two colours I came up with here (Game Basics and Gear and Equipment) it might work. Possibly having interchanging colours, red green red for the top and green red green for the bottom or maybe one colour for the background and one for the borders. --Kakarot 01:07, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- I like the way it's going right now, but the pink just doesn't fit in with the christmas theme. Vanguard15:15, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Use a colour scheme similar to User:Mattman243? — ク Eloc 貢 17:09, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Personally I think those colours are a bit too much, although it does look a bit better with white writing rather than black it might be too overpowering. For anyone that wants to have a look the colours he has are #CC0000 and forestgreen. --Kakarot 17:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- That green may be ok in the smaller dose you get on the main page. --Lemming 18:33, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- My concern about the green in the banner is the poor contrast with the link to Wintersday when the link is blue (or red for that matter). I've changed the link to point to 2006 wintersday to show what it'll look like when the link is filled. :) --Aspectacle 22:07, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I take it the pink won't be removed? Sorry but that color has no real fitting in a christmas theme. Vanguard12:29, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm slightly opposed to having a multi-coloured front page. If, however, you do want more than one colour, I suggest just red and green, with slightly different tones for each box. For example, going from dark red to red to light red on the first row of boxes, then dark green to green to light green on the second row. And please, no pink >.< -- br12 • (talk) • 15:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'd say have only one tone of red and green backgrounds and either interchange them (red green red for the top and green red green for the bottom or reversed) or one colour for the top row and one for the bottom row. At the moment I like both Aspectacles as well as my own red/green colours but we still have one more possible colour combination (Updates and Wiki Community) that we could try if anyone has any suggestions.
- Also I think it was Aspectacle that mentioned it but you have to base the colour for the Welcome table on a filled link rather than one that doesn't exist yet and that was the reason it pointed to 2006 rather than 2007 Eloc. --Kakarot 18:53, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't think there is much love for the pink. :) I've done a few designs in the history so you can see the solid dark vs light & colour combos.
There are a few permutations on the "happy wintersday" header in those too. And before you think you're going insane there is a subtle change in the background colour of the 'game basics' box in B & C from pale blue to either pale red or green. --Aspectacle 22:53, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- My current favourite is B. Maybe it is because I like green. Perhaps do a mix of B and C in a similar way to D, I don't like the pale colours of D much, they don't feel Christmasey to me. (I know I did the "not quite pink", but I have grown to loathe it.) --Lemming 23:21, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- What about this one --Kakarot 23:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Prefer the B choice above. I still disagree with more than one colour, it makes the page look unprofessional, even if it is for a holiday event. br12 • (talk) • 16:22, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Imo wintersday and christmas are happy events and those dark colors aren't even remotely happy to me. The lighter ones, A and D look much happier. I'd go with something like D, althouth I'd probably mix the colors in some way, maby something like what Kakarot suggested. -- (gem / talk) 06:18, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Like this you mean Gem, I've included my logos on this version as well to show what it would look like with them. --Kakarot 14:32, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's what I meant. After seeing it I think that it might be better to switch the colors in the two center boxes to make it look a bit more organised. Ie heading = green, first row of boxes = pink, second row of boxes = green. Or switch the pink and green in the preceding sentence, doesn't matter much. -- (gem / talk) 14:35, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

- I'd just like to say I'm horrified by the lime green, despite using it in an example I made above. I'd much rather a darker shade if possible. --Aspectacle 22:16, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
- I much prefer the darker colours in E. Although, I don't think they are cheerful enough. So maybe just a bit of a darker green. Biscuits 20:16, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

New Guild Wars Logos[edit]
I had a bit of spare time so I redesigned the Guild Wars Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall logos with a Wintersday theme, I didn't have a Eye of the North logo of the same quality as the others so was unfortunately unable to create one for it as well. They are all 240px by 83px, so a little bigger than the normal ones but this was done so certain small details wouldn't be lost when I saved the final version. You can have a look at them and give me your comments/suggestions on my Wintersday Logos page. --Kakarot 21:05, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- They are nice, but they do make the page look a little busy when used. Test it and you sort of see what I mean, perhaps tone down the extras on them a little? I like the idea though. --Lemming 22:52, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I can see what you mean, the only thing I can see that could be removed would be the snowflakes. Having said that it will only be up during the Wintersday period and depending on what the colours chosen it might not look too much. I have since added an Eye of the North logo after finding a reasonable quality version of the logo although I have had a bit of trouble with it. It seems to be adding a border to it for some reason, I even re-did it and it still didn't go away so not too sure what is causing it. --Kakarot 23:19, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ya, we wouldn't be able to use that as you can't have your signature like that on the main page. Also, I'm not quite sure if it's legal to change the ArenaNet logos. — ク Eloc 貢 00:16, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sure ANet won't mind Eloc - I'm sure they'd be quite flattered because I think they look quite good - especially the presents on the Factions one. :) Perhaps, to reduce clutter, we could use just one logo over the wintersday period? --Aspectacle 00:54, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- If they do end up getting used I will upload a new version without the name on it. Would the name of the image need changing or is that fine? Need to know that before I do anything relating to uploading a new version. About the issue Eloc mentioned regarding legality of editing the logos, probably the best idea would be to get Gaile to have a look at them and maybe bring it up with the other ArenaNet Staff and see what they say. Since it's basically the logo with other Guild Wars images around it I would think they would have no problems with it but we'll just have to wait and see.
- @Aspectacle - It might look a bit weird with just one Wintersday themed logo and the others just normal, is there any other changes I could make to make them look less cluttered. --Kakarot 03:15, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- I mean show only one logo. Show only the standard GW logo (for instance) with the decoration in a larger size. Remove the others for the meantime. --Aspectacle 03:22, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

- Yup, they are great now. And this version of the page looks good as a whole now. -- (gem / talk) 06:53, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- There are still some very minor changes I'd make to that one Gem but I agree with you. On the PvE, PvP and Wiki Community boxes I'd change the inner border (the one around the title) from #B22222 to #336633. That way the bottom row has a light green background dark green inner border and dark red outer border, exact opposite of the top row. Either that or make the inner and outer borders the same colour, dark green for the top and dark red for the bottom. --Kakarot 14:34, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
