Welcome back & Aspenwood
Welcome back Linsey. Hopefully everything has cooled down a bit and you can get some normal sleeping time again. Nice to see your desk too. For some reason Im always curious to see other peoples working area's. It looks like you have 2 screens to work on and a very expensive yellow paper holder ; ).
But I also have a Guildwars related issue. It has also been posted on Gaile Gray's Userpage. But I guess you as a Live team member can take some more direct steps. The leeching is a real problem in Aspenwood. The Luxon "Save Zone" makes it really easy to leech in the game. It is an area you leave once and never return too. There is plenty of room to create a waiting room downstairs with a gate system to close it off. This will not only solve the problem of not being able to reach the leechers but people can see them standing around. -- Cobra 14:40, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, welcome back! I hope everything will calm down a bit, and you will have some free time again (but I think that will only happen after the April update :p) I only wanted to say your keyboard does have striking resemblance to mine :D Besides, it's more useful to make a post-it board, instead of putting all those post-its on a monitor which could have been used for more productive things! (I sometimes wish I had three monitors at work...) --Lady Rhonwyn 20:44, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- That is the cleanest that I've ever seen Linsey's desk, apart from the time we had some bigwigs from Korea visiting. XD --Regina Buenaobra 05:54, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
- Lol! Good to see that ANet's "clean desk policy" is similar to what my boss enforces... xD -- Elv 09:14, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Happy Anniversary!
And yay to getting a new pod, too! Does the fact that it's likely to be filled mean that the Live Team is expanding, or is that just the rest of the team moving in? Draxynnic 13:58, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

- "You", "fix", "real" and "problems" are all words that are subject to personal interpretation. What you mean by those words will be totally different from what the next person would mean and likely from what even I would mean. Right now, I'm not trying to "fix the real problems" and I don't think that any one build will ever realistically do that. Right now, I'm shooting for fixing a couple things, adding some new stuff, and fulfilling a couple requests. Once I have that out of the way, I can do it again for the next build. What I am hoping for is that we will at least show people like you that there is enough promise for the future that you will keep giving us the chance to "fix the real problems". Alliance Enhancements
Hey Lindsey, has anyone mentioned or given thought to enhancing the interaction between allies? The one thing that comes to mind which would be a great thing for me, is the ability to see a guild roster or current online members for the ally not just your guild. Maybe sorta like the visit guild hall button, add a button that allows you to see current online members or something similar when on the allies tab. Right now the only thing you can do is put them in your friends list, which quickly fills up even if your only doing it for the officers and leaders of the allied guilds. thanks Keeprofsecrets 17:16, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

- Another option, now that Guild Wars is available via Steam, is to add GW to your Games list in Steam. Steam allows for membership in multiple clans, so if your guild and your Alliance is organized, you could all be members of 1) your guild's Steam group and 2) your alliance's Steam group. You can see who's playing what via your Steam list. This may be a work around for the technical limitations explained by Linsey. ceolstan 12:46, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Zaishen Quests
I wanted to drop by to say how much fun I and my guild have been having with these. We're a PvX guild, but the Combat Challenge quests have been really helpful in getting players more and more involved in different PvP venues. People are having fun, and everyone looks forward to seeing what the day's Zquest will be. Kudos to you and your team for this concept! I can't believe the amount of excitement that it's generated for the game. With the influx of players who'll buy the game via Steam, the playerbase will be energized for quite some time. ceolstan 05:07, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- I completely agree, it really is quite something. To be able to actually PUG now is really motivating, previously it'd be down to your alliance to help you through the HM Titles, now it's just a case of waiting for the relative Zquest. The Nahpui and Raisu Palace ones both hit the hammer on the head and got me my Canthan Guardian, I await my other titles with glee :D --Alex Eternal 20:40, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- I PUGged more in this week than in my entire time playing GW, XDD. It's great to get them added after all this time writting "They should add some kind of 'daily mission' feature to give extra rewards for making a certain mission, to bring together people there" every time I had a chance in GW-related forums. Don't you love when they add something you asked for? MithTalk 01:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
New Zaishen Content shortening life of game further?
As happy as people seem to be with the 'new' Zaishen content is there the concern that it will shorten Guild Wars lifespan even further? There's 2-3 months worth of missions (and 3-4 months of vanquishes), and people are doing a HM mission a day over multiple characters since 'everyone and their dog' is doing it. Now I hear rumor that vanquishing is on the table. Vanquishing with full teams and overpowered consumables and PvE-only skills is not going to last long either. Just a thought. 000.00.00.00 21:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- I think there are probably quite a few players who will quit sooner because they're able to get their desired titles more quickly. I also think there are probably quite a few players who will play more often because the update makes it easier to find a group. I don't know which group is larger, but even if this change decreases the number of active players, it should still make it easier for the remaining active players to find groups because the remaining active players would be concentrated in a few areas. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 22:31, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- not to mention the fact that even given the timeline you've just mentioned that's 7 months, which means another 2 content updates in that time. Who knows what will be added at those points which could revitalize interest. Further to this new editions to the gold zcoin collector might motivate people to keep on playing the zquests. -- Salome 22:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- It would still only be 3-4 months, cos you'd do them in combination - kinda. It will be interesting to see how things cos, but since Arenanet has never released figures on player numbers etc then we'll never really know. 000.00.00.00 23:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- Not everyone plays 6 hours a day. Not everyone has all outposts unlocked in all characters. Not everyone will do Frostmaws' or Ilsundur's in more than one character (most people won't do Frostmaw's at all! XD). A Vanquish takes an average of 1.5 hours, a mission an average of 30 minutes, a full elite area an average of 3 hours. Some may go way beyond those figures, making missions in record time an such, but fear not. Most people has one main character and are far from completing everything and are not speed runners. Once they do so, they can change main character, there is plenty of time to do things. MithTalk 00:05, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- How could you do them in combination? From how I understand it the vanquishes would be added to the zquest rota, they wouldnt be given their own flag. However I could just have assumed that incorrectly -- Salome 00:18, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Same here, that's why I put kinda, if vanquishing comes up we can assume it would go through the standard ones or a new one. [shrugs] 000.00.00.00 00:29, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

- An interesting theory, however the lifecycle of the game should balance this issue. By the time GW2 is released to retail, the concern that GW content will be recycled too much and become irrelevent will no longer apply. The Zaishen content even serves to encourage further play when the playerbase of GW starts to dwindle in upcoming years. When 90% or more of the playerbase migrates to the sequel, it will be quite difficult then to find a PUG to do anything in the game, which is probably when new buffs will be added to balance this, such as allowing full parties of heroes or other buffs so the dwindling player base can still be challenged, yet still make most areas doable. - If I thought I had a chance I'd go for it. Unfortunately, the only experience I've got is undocumented and unverifiable. :( I'd love to have a chance to work with the Live Team and be involved in making new content for Guild Wars. Oh well. I guess I'll stick to modding it instead.--Pyron Sy 23:40, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

- In a perfect world I'll be designing worlds, settings, landascapes, models, textures, music, sound effects, plots&quests, items, voices (yes I'm in charge of the voices too >_<), entire rulesets an game mechanics and only the gods know what else they may ask me; not only as a very time consuming hobby. But unfortuntely not everyone can follow their dreams and I live in a place I can't leave and were nthing interesting can be done... T-T.... Want to see try something interesting? - If this were a year from now, I probably would jump at the chance. However, I live in Michigan, still need to master this weird RL thing known as driving and I do not even have an Associate's Degree yet. That and I perfer coding over designing. (Reset indent) Although it would be grand if that meant the live team does intend to add more missions, and thus more areas, I find it unlikely and that Linsey just put up the "general idea" of what a designer does. Although I wouldn't be surprised if in the future missions will eventually be added. -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 09:59, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

- Personally would rather mod tools. There's more freedom (in certain areas) being a modder than an actual employee - though Arenanet hasn't given the modding community any tools. [pats Fallout 3's GECK] Building worlds, quests etc and so on can be a big pain but it's so fun seeing something come together. 000.00.00.00 20:25, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Strike As One
Small bug, probably an easy fix. Right, if you use Strike as One on yourself standing still, sometimes/ if most of the time (while not in aggro of a foe) your pet will freeze. Not sure if this is ment to happen, seems like a weak exploit for using recall, but otherwise a small 'bug'. (I don't have a user and i don't want to sign up). See for yourself and you'll know what i mean. Also a small graphical glitch outside of Marketplace (Bukdek Byway) theres some overlapping ground with the bridge. Not greatly harmful but looks lazy. I could name a few more but you got updates and bla bla to work on. Thanks. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:87.112.86.224 (talk).

- I was thinking of two people with the names Menzies and Balthazar that had something to do with each other (rivalry most like) that could be the source. But it could also be randomly chosen names. -- Azazel the Assassin/talk 02:36, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Signet of Spirits
Has the vampirism "I don't want to fight, Mr Rit" problem. Fix pls? Thanks :) -- euphoracle | talk 02:01, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- It does't happen always, though. I currently must apply Painful Bond for them to decide to start attacking, and sometimes they stop after shadow stepping them. MithTalk 02:34, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Why is it that I feel this fix is not coming in the coming weeks ~.~ 14:10, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- It may be because they like to strictly keep themselves to monthly updates, but yes, that's an annoying problem. attacking helps. Boro 14:14, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've been using this the last two days on my Rit and has been effective working with only one or two attacking the same target, but yeah, attacking helps. [swoons at the idea of all 3 attacking one target with my build ^_^] ~~000.00.00.00~~ 19:53, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

We Shall Return
Hey Linsey, first off: good job on the skill update, I'm happy with just about all of the changes and I can live with the ones that I'm not 100% happy about. I'm glad that you're aware of the Frozen Soil issue with We Shall Return, but I'd like to know one thing... did you take monster group balancing into account when this skill was changed? Many of the Paragon class monsters use this skill (especially in Hard Mode) and while in most areas it's not much of a problem with or without Frozen Soil, it definitely introduces a new level of irritation when facing certain Undead mobs in the Desolation- most notably those really big groups that come with 2, 3, or even 4 Paragons, and sometimes 1 or 2 Monk ressers as well for good measure. I know that rebalancing the PvE skill bars of existing NPCs (monsters and henchies) is something you've mentioned as wanting to work on, so I just thought I'd mention this particular issue to you if you weren't aware of it already. :) -- Elv 10:24, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I brought this up on her other talk page - I'm going to look around for where that list of monster bars with skill bars that were affected from functionality changes, and add onto that page this skill (and look at other builds that may have been changed by this update). And if I cannot find it, I'll make a new page for Linsey. -- Azazel the Assassin/talk 11:03, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Done with PvE class Changes?...

Kaiya Jaja
Got bored before, started adding random names of NPCs to my Friends List to see how many would add.... yes... I was that bored. Anywoo... When it came to adding Kaiya Jaja it says it's already on my friends list as you. I already supposed you knew that but anywoo... I was wondering if you still played that character and if she/he too was a merchant... of sort... not that I'm saying it's a requirement it be a merchant... just saying... but it would be funny......... - Hey, you never know if something would work if you don't try it. You'll be surprised how many weird places I've entered in betas because I tend to stick my nose inside structures just to see if I can get inside or go beyond boundaries, XD. I also try famous names or things I like and nicknames of people I know. XD. Many of them work, but they do not always correspond with people I know. MithTalk 13:56, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Kaiya Jaja is the second char I made back in 2005. She is a PvE monk. That merchant was named after her before I got my job here. - Linsey talk 22:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Mind if there's a trivia note at the bottom that says it was named after your character? ~~000.00.00.00~~ 00:46, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well, other NPCs with names as users or characters have been noted. Were all the original users asked before the notes being added? MithTalk 12:24, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- They didn't ask me... they added the note, and said "I hope you don't mind". And by "they", I mean wiki users. And for the record, I think it's really cool. -- Alaris 13:53, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
