Guild Roster locking character names in use.

Just wanted to run this by you. While it's not an important issue, it has piqued my curiosity, and I just couldn't resist directly asking about it. You can find the details (as we have them so far) and some speculation as to the cause here. -Faer 23:47, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I had not heard of this issue before, so it is interesting, but I'm just a designer. I wouldn't know the first thing about how to look into this other than telling someone else about it. You might want to post a bug on it to the bug pages. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 21:01, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

15 Jan 2009 Dev Update

Linsey, todays Live Team update post is huge news. You and your team have provided us with a series of great updates including EOTN Wintersday and the November update. While I would encourage your team to reveal more details during the development process (because I'm nosey and impatient), I would also like to state that your teams track record leaves me feeling confident that whatever April brings us, it will be good. Thank you! 24.188.207.20 02:17, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

The more storage thing was fine but what really got me was the “more open” comment. This is a total change from the ANET I have seen in four years and I am sorry but I just can’t believe it. In the spirit of more openness then what are you going to change and how are you going to change storage?Shayne123 14:24, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
I really like the more open attitude, which in my experience has started with Linsey. There's a number of updates that we've known well in advance that they were coming. Account-based HoM, for example, is something we've known for a long time was coming, which is great because it allowed us to plan our title-hunting a good year before the implementation occurs. Nice to get the advance warning with the storage, so ppl who would buy a mule can now wait a few months and see if they really need one. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 14:57, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
One must ask the question as to 'why?'. Why now? And also, "Seeing is believing."
Advanced warning is nice but its undetermined if they'd inform us in advance if design elements have changed as Regina has said things can change. There are many questions in regard to, since Alaris brings it up, the Hall of Monuments with how it will all work; titles are only part of what the update changes, there's still the matter of the armor and how it will go if say you have 5 Factions armor sets and you go in with say a Paragon or Dervish, since they don't have Factions armor set. Walking into such an environment would be a little weird. This is something that was asked about before and I'm not entirely sure if its been asked.
There are many things they could be open about, but until they actually come through with this recent update the optimistic part of me will remain at home with a nice cuppa. Here's hoping it has to be a short cuppa ^_^ "Get back in the lounge!" ^_^ Aba Malatu means Forbidden Truth 21:02, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
I totally understand people being guarded about this stuff. Of course we will need to follow through before many people will believe some of the things we talked about. I think that I have proven myself to be fairly trustworthy and honest in the answers I give out. I do feel a sense of responsibility to the Guild Wars players and I do my very best to represent what they need from a design standpoint. So, I can only hope that those who know me will have a little faith and trust this new process until we prove otherwise (which I hope we never do).
Yes, we fully intend on releasing details of some features in development well before build day. I say "some" because we do want there to be some surprises, so it is unlikely that everything will get teased beforehand. Basically, we don't want players to be just sitting around twiddling their thumbs for months on end with no content updates. We really wanted to do updates this new way so that we would have the time to really sink our teeth in and get some bigger projects going but some of us were worried it would make players feel more disconnected from us or even worse, like we really have abandoned Guild Wars as rumor has it. Since what we are doing now is so far the opposite from abandoning this game, we wanted to deepen the connection players have to what we are currently working on. We did not list everything we are working on in the Dev Update because like I said we want there to be some surprises, but more importantly it is hard to tell right now which of those things will definitely be going in to the build. We really really really don't want to promise things that we will not be able to deliver on. It isn't fun for us and it isn't fun for you guys.
Shayne: I would love to give you the answers to those questions, but I don't even know them yet. There are still a lot of hurdles to get through on this stuff and I would hate to tell you something that later on turns out to not be true because of technical limitations we don't know about yet. We will announce details on the various features planned for release once we have final designs nailed down. That does mean that we will need time at the beginning of each builds development cycle to work out design details and technical limitations before we can release info, but please trust me when I say it is coming.
Aba Malatu: Again, we can't tell you guys things that we don't know yet but information will come in time. As to the question of "why? why now?", I ask "why not now?". I know that there are some things that we have said we could not do (like additional storage) but if we can actually find a way to prove that wrong, why not do it?
I wrote up a whole rant about this "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attitude I keep seeing as it completely baffles me that some people are actually annoyed to get what they want, but I'm going to just leave it in my head. But really, what's up with that? - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 02:16, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I personally don't want to give you the impression I have a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attitude towards you and Arenanet, but I don't think I am. if I have given off that impression it is not intentional and apologize for it. Some people will just never be happy, some people will always be happy, other people can get broad-sided by something said, especially if all the information we were given prior point to a conclusion that it wouldn't be coming - assumptions we make because we're not in the position you are. We only receive scrapes of information in the grand-scheme of things. That largely can't be helped.
Then it comes down to the individual, how they wish to process it. Some will just go with it, others will question it (I generally always question to try and understand more than just one side - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but thats a personal thing on my part) , and others will jump around in their cage flinging poo no matter what.
Also, if you've got a rant, feel free. You get the butt end of rants all the time, no one said you can't do it back. Geez, there's a lot of us that probably deserve a good setting straight.Aba Malatu means Forbidden Truth 02:45, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry Linsey, once again, you got a fan excited. I on purpose made all my minis go to my main because I knew about the HOM update. Also, don't worry about those people that seem to complain if ice cream is cold. They will eventually get over it. ^^" Katherinezoltin 03:24, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

One question: With the account-HoM update being finished, will we also get to know how it actually works? I mean the info about what counts and what doesn't for the GW2 rewards, so we know at which point we get nothing, at which point we get something and where we get everything so unlocking even more won't give any more benefits. --YawgYawg 07:33, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Linsey for CRM! In all seriousness though, the if you do or don't attitude springs from several reasons. I will attempt to explain a few. It seems that Anet has done a thorough job of making it impossible to get information about GW 2. So far most information has been suspiciously overhpyed, then ignored when called into question. After some of the more spectacular failures of Anet to listen to, or at least give the appearance of listening to, their players (IE Ursan), people are now suspicious of anything. So many problems have happened because Anet has not listened until people got really pissed off, and it has generated a precedent. Generally speaking, all that we get is, "we are looking into solutions" and other PR lingo. Then...nothing. Nothing happens for months. In this regard, you are damned if you do not, because you will only prove yet again, that nothing happens. However, you are damned if you do end up doing something, because people will be extremely attentive to little mistakes. You as a company have drawn excess attention, and people will analyze everything for any possible slacking off. If you make so much as one mistake, it will be jumped at and people will tout it as evidence that Anet has failed again, even with massive changes to the contrary.
There is also the rather troubling theme that has developed in the past two releases specifically. GW has never been about insane amounts of content. Instead of content, we get grind and grind and grind over time. This is the complete antithesis of what the original Guild Wars was about. There is a serious, and genuine concern amongst the community that Guild Wars 2 will be World of Guildcraft. If that is the intention, then it may bring some people in, but it will also drive some away. I fall into the latter, but I am attempting not to let personal bias influence my writings here. Guild Wars was a wonderful game because of it's personal instances, low level cap, and lack of a need to play for a huge time to get max gear making it a fantastic game to play casually. The original game also has one of the better plots I've seen, even from the RPG perspective. We see things like high level cap or none at all, and the absence of instanced play, as well as a continental pvp thing and we are nervous. The first two items on that short list, are things that attracted many to the game. Territorial pvp is in factions, and it's simply terrible. Not being able to use the merchants in a third of the towns simply sucks. Obviously things won't be identical, but the comments alone are enough to make people a bit nervous. Because we cannot get any information at all on the status of the game currently, we assume the worst, because as mentioned above, the track record is, for many things, not gerat. We also fear that our concerns will be justified as things are unveiled, and that the game will be something that is not only not what was promised, but got lost and is no longer Guild Wars.
You as a person have done a fantastic job responding to questions, often repeatedly. You have restored many peoples faith in this game in and of yourself. You provide reasons, and offer explanations for most of what you do. You can joke around and create a light mood. It will not be easy, but if you as a company manage to pull this one off, much animosity will be dissipated effortlessly. I have tried to remain largely neutral as things have unfolded, and I know that I am far from the most patient of persons, but I am nearly ready to toss in the towel. You are essentially the main reason some of us are even bothering to care about GW 2.
Take this as you will. I am trying to explain as unbiased as I can be at 3 AM how I feel the situation is. I feel that I cannot say I speak for the overwhelming majority, let alone everyone, but I speak for myself, and at least a handful of people I personally know ingame. I feel that there are many who agree, at least in part, with my statements, and I feel that by and large the apparent general outlook on this situation is justified. It will certainly not be easy to please the hordes now, but time will tell whether or not this will work. I do not demand a thank you, or even a response for this. I am simply attempting to answer your question and to perhaps return a small portion of what you have done for us all. Kelvin Greyheart 08:40, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
I just wanted to point out a tiny example, Linsey. Look right below this discussion at the tonic one, one you've been active in (and in the past). Now, people knew it was in the gw.dat file but not active as it were (this was made clear by you), yet you guys made it active without telling people (knowing people were very interested in it). Now, as cool as that is and how you wanted the the surprise factor and all, not everyone is impressed by this especially if they've been asking about it. You give a false sense. Not everyone likes surprises, some people like it plain and simple, clear and concise: "Its there and now its available here. Go try your luck guys".
We're a massive community and each has their own likes and dislikes about how they like/want things to come across, I know you can't cater to all but you've got to understand that each one of us is different so the broad-spectrum "damned if you do, damned if you don't" comment might be accurate just because there's just so many different people playing, which is a good thing really. ^_^ You can't cater to everyone, it's unrealistic and may not even be possible but that's just the nature of the beast. Though, people can cut the crap, there's time where it can go too far and just be totally offensive. Aba Malatu means Forbidden Truth 09:23, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Something that i would like to point out about guild wars and the damned if you do and damned if you don't attitude. and i think it needs to be started off with praise and that is a lot of us feel like guild wars is one of the best games out there. and i think because we have that feeling about the game there is a lot of stuff that just seem like ok why hasn't this been fixed or changed, (with the thought behind it being this would make my guild wars experience 1000 times better) (ie a market place being able to redesign your toon [name, appearance, hair, gender]a switch to a world map travel, more storage ect..) and to a lot of us (i am speaking for people that i have talked to in game and just friends) the feeling is this stuff is really simple. and is stuff that should have been changed or fixed from the start, and not to say that things haven't been changed. the title update was one of the best imo (though the npcs in JQ and FA could use 200 more hp and maybe scatter for ray of judgment and also the books could go with a general boost to faction donation, so its a little more favorable. I look forward to the hom update and added storage. i still question it such as how with things work? like aba malatu pointed out how will that shrine work (personally i feel and hope that it will just show that toon in that armor. so if your para comes in it will show your sin in elite armor) and will some of the non title achievements show up for everyone such as completing the deep/ or uw? and will my mini pets show up in all my halls? and the storage issue i hope one of the changes/ additions is tripling the material storage and i would understand if you didn't do it for the Rare materials but for the most part materials are used to make armor and i dont know if you have noticed but i bet you have for almost all the armors you need more then a 250 stack of x material. another question that pops into my head about the storage update is will you guys finally take a practical look as to what people carry? ie armor sets weapon sets books. and what about the possibility of making some things stack able? even if it isn't 250 cap even if you let us stack 5 of the same types of rues would be vastly better then what it is now, i understand the hole market reason behind it. and things like dye storage would be nice right now i have at least one of each and i just have them siting there in storage taking up what is it 11 slots? and maybe make the cap for that 250 seeing as i bet there are people who have 250 stacks of black dye but you will never need 250 dyes. ok well for the most part i got all my talking points out there. sorry if it was too rantish.75.165.125.117 22:32, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
"so during development we will be more open about our process and what we are working on.", well, we know some of what you're working on, now about the process?
As an example, we've had hundreds of discussions over storage - storage has been a looooooong standing topic - but it would be interesting to know what what are you guys considering (even if that option isn't included at the end) to improve character based storage. For example: Armor boxes? Storybook boxes? A mini-pet crafter (like how the festival hat guy works)? I'd love to have that feeling of being connected to the process, official discussion would be super.
A good place to start is the HoM update; there's many questions which you know of, Linsey, so is that the part where we are included or are you going to say 'we're exploring this' or can you lay down some definites, like how armor is going to look in account mode with character that has a main profession that don't have that armor option. Is there going to be a better system in place to arrange your monument's content?
It's only been a week, yes, but the question of how this new more "open attitude" in regards to the process is going to work and when it starts is still being asked. User Aba Malatu sig.png Aba Malatu means Forbidden Truth 22:53, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
(EC) The problem with that reasoning is the idea of "this stuff is really simple" - it isn't. In fact, it's so complex, so resources intensive and so time consuming that it may not be possible at all. Even increasing the material cap above 250 would create a massive stress over Arena Net's servers, despite would some players probably think this is a very small change to make. GW1 has some limitations deep down to its core programming, something that cannot really be changed now, preventing many changes some players asking for to be implemented. Arena Net found a solution to that problem by making a new game, GW2, but that one won't be ready anytime soon. Erasculio 22:55, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
Well if that is the case Erasculio then they did a bad job when making the game to not have enough foresight as to making changes to a mmo. and i don't think they had bad programmers or that guild wars was that poorly made. and i felt like before it was just a excuse because they didn't have enough time but if you think about it they have all the time they need to make any change. they are dedicated to making changes to guildwars 1, and they dont have that much new stuff that they can add i do realize but they still have the time to make changes. because they don't have the pressure of a anew chapter. 75.165.125.117 00:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Maybe when making the game they weren't looking for upgradeability, but to make it as good as reasonably possible to begin with? Some of the limitations are hard limitations based in the way computer architecture works. For instance, the numbers 250 and 255 come up a LOT in computer games, and this is not coincidence - because 0-255 is the range that can be stored in a single byte of data. While ANet possibly could upgrade material storage and stack sizes to 255 with relative ease, going over 255 means doubling the memory space required to track the size of each stack. Of course, the flipside is that if they DID do this than if it wasn't for in-game economic considerations, stack sizes could go up to over thirty thousand... but how many stacks are going to be that big? Personally, for most armours I get around the stack limit by buying them piece-by-piece - although more convenient repeat access to endgame areas would make this easier! ;) Draxynnic 03:29, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Like others have said, you guys generally have no concept of how difficult or time consuming a task is. Even I have a lot of trouble judging how long a project will take me and usually undershoot when we are budgeting out my time. Every project has a development cycle so when you take on numerous projects at once, you have to stagger each step of the project to keep things moving. Because of that we don't actually have anything "locked down" for April enough to be able to answer the kinds of questions you guys have about them. It's just going to take time and also, keep in mind that this is our first big update after changing over to the new system so we are all still trying to figure out how best to run things. I know it's hard to not have any information about something that you are just DYING to know about, but I promise you guys that we are doing the best we can. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 21:24, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Whenever I think of the new NPC - which due to it having lore (yay!) is a bit - I get the feeling that the format of how it's a collector is a test for GW2. Same with the model of Nicholas himself. Doesn't really look like anything we really see in GW1. At all... Unless I'm just blind. (speculation... START!)-- Azazel The Assassin\talk 05:37, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Instead of a test for GW2 I rather expect it to be a taste of things to come in the big update, he looks like a piece of new technology that could get more uses in the postsearing world. Or maybe he's just unique ;) Oh, and the big update, I won't hide the fact I can't wait to see even a small bit of it, and then every bit of it :)--YawgYawg 05:46, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Does seem like a new model - not just skin - for the NPC. I wouldn't be surprised if the skin is going to be reused. I won't get my hopes up for this update adding more NPCs like this, but I'll keep it in mind. I'd love to see new NPCs that give tidbits of lore here and there. :) -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 05:56, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
We've actually had that model made back when we made the models for BMP after EotN came out. This little guy has been a little side project for a long time. I'll be posting some of the lore for him I've been working on later. :D - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 06:27, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Something I thought of when I found out there was a new npc in pre: That is technically the past. I think it would be cool if he were to survive the searing and showed up as an older hunter (maybe just gray his hair) somewhere else in the game, after the searing. I know his primary role is to help supply party/sweet/drunkard items to pre searing players, but I think it would be cool to have him out of pre even if he's just got a neat little dialog. But overall, super cool update, even if I don't have a pre-char.Edit : Along side his trusty yak of course. He's quite awesome. Yaks bend or deldrimor war camp would be the perfect place. Or in that outpost between the charr homelands and the far shiverpeaks. Underated Skill 19:41, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
With the concept of time, he could be in Pre-searing, Prophecies/Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North at different "time periods" - since how there is a 2 year difference between Pre and Post/Factions, 3 years between Post/Factions and Nightfall, and 3 years between Nightfall and Eye of the North. Could change some dialogue to say "I remember when Ascalon was green 2 years ago" then "I remember the fall of the Titans 3 years ago" etc. in some of the different dialogues. But I'm sure this was all thought of already. :) -- Azazel The Assassin\talk 19:54, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for this Linsey. As a active Presearing member I love this update. I can actually get Party Animal/Drunkard/Sweet Tooth without spending tons of gold. My pre character is jumping with glee.--º• zØ3y •º(talk)
Is this just a limited time or permanent? --Robot 20:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
I love this update, I hope Nicholas selects randomly the items collected each day instead of cycling through a fixed list (random and unexpected = always more fun), but I've quickly found out this update brought a certain problem - storage - there are plenty of new items worth keeping. I'd happily buy an extra slot for a pre mule but there's no way to transfer items between characters in pre without the need to ask someone for help every time. I'd sacrifice a xunlai tab in post to have it available for pre chars if it was possible. Hope the big update will bring some help here.--YawgYawg 21:14, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey Linsey, just wanted to say, thank you for the info at the ingame chat. I was there as Niall and I honestly don't know how the 3 of you stay so focused with people spamming crap at you, but once again thanks again for all the info. Heh, I followed the conversation for a while, but man you guys really exploded haha. I think anything I would have to say on the subject is already covered, but remember... this is a video game. It's not reality. But I do know that Izzy refuses to use anything but the Templar Armor on female warriors because anything else is not "armor" in his opinion. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 23:30, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

The Vabbian armor for warrior females is awesomely done! Izzy can use that one, without falling into the catagories we discussed in the previous arguments, can't he? :) --*Yasmin Parvaneh* User yasmin parvaneh sig.png 23:36, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Vabbian armor is awesome (and looks respectable at least), but the exposed skin takes away from it a bit (arms mostly), especially when the exposed parts are key parts you need for battle. Templar is great, I quite prefer Female Warrior Monument armor myself. Aside from some slightly exposed legs, it is glorious. DarkNecrid 20:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

When did Wynthyst start working for Arena Net? and or become a Admin for the Wiki?

I did not realize that Wynthyst worked for arena net. her answers allways seem like she works for you guys. So please Linsey correct me if i am wrong. She also acts like she is a Admin on the Wkik archiving other peoples pages, tagging, and moving things around that are not yet answered or the discussion has not been finished yet, it is rather annoying.200.35.151.141 03:34, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

August 8, 2008. I am assisting Linsey with the management of her talk page at her specific request. Considering that the items that I have tagged for archiving have been answered by Linsey, and she most likely will not respond further since her time for the wiki is extremely limited until after the update, yet people refuse to stop exploding her page with walls of text. After tagging there are 3 days in which you can conclude your conversation or move it to a different talk page. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 03:41, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Wyn has been helping me maintain my page because I just don't have time to. She has been extremely accommodating and done much more than she has to. She frequently checks in with me and makes sure I am ok with a change before she makes it. Even though I don't respond to every subject in a timely manner, I read most as they come up. I read stuff on my wiki every day (multiple times a day usually), so I know when and what Wyn posts and I haven't had a problem with any of it thus far. I'm sorry you find her behavior annoying, but her work on here has been invaluable to me and I would like her to continue doing it. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 04:47, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Keep in mind that if things don't get removed/archived her page will simply get so big it breaks, and then there will be no choice but to lock it from further editing until she can personally get it caught up, which last time took almost 2 months. My assistance allows her page to remain open to posts from the community. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 06:09, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

one thing that i think wyn needs to be mindful of and that is you are not Linsey and you do not work for arena net a lot of people including my self are posting on said page are looking for a "arena net answer" not a wyn answer. also i know this is so 3rd grade of me to say but i feel that other people who i have talked to who post on this page feel the same way and that is when did Linsey start picking favorites? 75.165.115.205 20:36, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I rarely post answers here, unless it's to direct people to an already posted answer from Linsey. Or if it's something I personally know the answer to like any other person in the community that reads or follows the RC log. Example... the OP of this topic asked when I became a wiki admin, so I posted the answer.--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 20:42, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't think that praising someone who spends copious hours of their own time helping me is just "picking favorites". Anyone who wants to spend as much time as Wyn does trying to help me stay organized on the wiki so that myself and THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE can continue posting stuff here, will get similar praise. Explain to me how that is just "picking favorites". I thought I was facilitating Wyn's assistance since I obviously need it so bad or my page will quickly become unusable. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 21:03, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

I've said before that Linsey is not only a member of this community, she's my friend, and yes, we do chat in other messaging services, just as I'm sure you chat with your friends whether it's in Vent, TS, AIM, MSN, or email for that matter. Who knows? we may even talk on the phone. As a member of this community, I would willingly help anyone here (and have on many, many occasions) if they were having difficulties with their wiki page. The fact that my assistance to Linsey is a bit more pronounced is mainly due to the extremely high volume of posts on her page. I don't see anyone complaining about me talking to any of the other 400 people I have on my contacts list in IM to verify changes to this or that. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:46, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
He's bent out of shape not because you're linked to another 400 people, but an Arenanet employee. He's trying to link your and Linsey's relationship to favoritism. You just saying you're 'friends' is probably going to make him jump up and down "ohhhh, so she's your friend now?". 000.00.00.00 21:52, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Linsey is one of the most wiki-active Anet employees we've had on the wiki, however due to this, her page gets spammed, most of this with the same questions over and over. Wyn, myself and others have spent time trying to direct people to the information they are seeking to save linsey the time. Wyn however, more than the rest of us, has invested a great deal more of herself into helping Linsey keep her page clear of clutter and organised. If anything Wyn is helping Linsey facilitate more answers to the community through her work, not hinder them and ultimately both of the IP's should be gratful for the time and effort Wyn puts into this community. Wyn has Linsey's backing on her actions on this page, not to mention the other sysops and the majority of the wiki community, as we understand how much she is helping keeping this page ticking over. Thus in short to the IP's, please get a clue about the wiki before popping on and gripping about the people on it. If you want a personal answer, not subject to community answers of tidying, then please send the question in a personal email. As stated before this is a public wiki and not a private forum and all posts are subject to community input and interaction.EDIT: also further to the above Linsey is an individual, she's fully entitled to be friends with whoever she wishes. IT seems somewhat obvious to me that one would prefer to be friends with someone who is kind, decent and helpful, rather than with people who bitch about nothing. I know which kind of person I would choose to be friends with. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 21:55, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
OH Wow you guys clearly don't understand the meaning of DEVILS ADVOCATE. and also Assuming, funny word because assuming makes a ASS out of U and ME i could care less if they are friends what i care about which is the route of the problem is the fact that wyn some times acts like she has insider information. and that isnt fare to the community as a hole. and 000 i am not bent out of shape as i have already sated and as i have already stated your assuming and really just making a ass out of both of us. i don't know who the op is but i was just raseing my concerns because they brought the topic up already. and i also have the right to do so and so dose the op. also Salome this as nothing to do with knowledge or lack there of about the wiki. 75.165.115.205 22:26, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't think any of my posts regarding the game, or ArenaNet's intentions have ever indicated I have inside information, just that I read and remember things that have been posted on any number of sources, by any number of people. I am active in multiple community sites related to Guild Wars. If I did indeed have inside information from my friendship with Linsey, I would consider myself just as bound by the NDA as she is, since any information leaked could cost her her job, and I wouldn't do that to a friend, regardless of any other community ties I might have. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 22:32, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Wyn helps keep this page clear so that linsey can both read player questions easily and answer them. If Linsey had a problem with this Wyn would of stopped. She is a clever lady and i do not think is the type of person who would remove topics that have not been addressed fully just because "its Wyns view" It has been stated that both Linsey and Wyn are in contact so both parties are aware of what is getting done about what area. Linsey has alot on her plate at the moment with the coming update and Wyn lightens her load.Doing what she does that would only have to be done anyway. I dont see anything wrong with this.As a last note, "she acts as if she has insider information" Im sorry but there is a great variety of sources available to everyone that you just need to actually read to find out whats going on. Keep tabs on Linsey or Regina's Journal for example so much info gets onto there before anywhere else. Just think before you flame Frozenwind 22:59, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

both Linsey and Wyn can answer for them selfs and i think the op can read. i don't know why everyone feels the need to post the same information over and over also i never said that i didn't appreciate wyn i was just commenting on how she acts. also more assumeing i hurd that was good and just one more time to be clear and redundant for a 9000zillioth time linsey asked wyn to help out she is doing so they are friends wyn also helps Lindsey keep the page short. also instead of assuming that other people don't read things dost make it true. its better not to assume at all. because i read the journals i read at least 3 forums and other peoples talk pages.75.165.115.205 23:08, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
People are rewording what is being said as their own statement, and because people like you continue to bring it back up. So they feel that the point is not made clear. I do miss Rhode Island some time, I love visiting. It's funny how you can come to really appreciate a place once you've gone. I think I miss the turf fields in Slocum the most. Oh and the rocks in Gansett. Bass Rock Rd. <3
I basically grew up on the URI campus. Loitered at the Imporium (I still think they make the best Gyros and Falafel at International Pockets that I've ever had), watching movies on the quad. I learned to drive in the parking lots down by that big concrete theater building. Both my parents went to school there. They still live down there. See? One of the questions on your FAQ

Hello Linsey, just a quick question and for the sake of clarity. One of your questions/answers is this:
Q: Will PvP only skins be available for PvE characters?"
A: There is a major bug which still prevents them from being released. We are trying to get it fixed but unfortunately the bug is so complicated that it requires time from our lead programmer to fix. To say that he is extremely busy would be an understatement. Once we can get him nailed down to take a look, we will be able to release the skins. Trust me, we aren't holding them back for a frivolous reason.
Now i'm not doubting your answer in this instance, however I just want to make sure that it is indeed the answer to the question asked,as I think it might have been misread as a question about making PvE skins (such as those found in GWEN) available for PvP characters, rather than making PvP exclusive skins such as the Darkwing Wand and the Darkwing Staff into PvE drops. Sorry for second guessing your FAQ, it's just the answer is so similar to that of the answer you have given for the bug in the release of the GWEN pvp skins. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 15:49, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

The answer for that came from her archives Salome. You are welcome to go find it yourself. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 17:03, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
He's not doubting that, he's saying the answer isn't right (misread, etc), which is correct. The question is asking if PvP only skins will be made available to PvE characters while the answer is talking about why the PvP skins aren't available to PvP characters (as PvE characters can't use Tolkano to get skins for their stuff.) EDIT: On a second reading, I may have misunderstood what you meant Wyn, because I do recall her answering this question, it's just as Salome pointed it, the FAQ doesn't match up here, the answer makes no sense with the question asked. :P DarkNecrid 17:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
No, you guys are right. That answer is for why the EotN skins haven't been added. I'm not sure if we would ever make PvP exclusive skins available to PvE'ers. PvE has plenty of exclusive stuff, why shouldn't PvP get some exclusive stuff too? - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 17:23, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeh as I said, I wasn't trying to get at anyone. As darknecrid said, it was just to clarify the answer, as I can see myself making the same skimming mistake. EDIT: Also as a wee side note, I'm not really sure what exclusive stuff PvE peeps get that PvP peeps can't get as PvP peeps can get all PvE weapon skins and they are getting the PvE armours when the bug gets sorted. The only thing I can see that PvE players get which PvP dont is the actual missions/quests etc... which is surely a personal play choice. Not a complaint just my own thoughts on it. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 19:45, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Along the same lines can you give a bit more explanation as to why the Zaishen Menagerie was added in one of your faq's there is a question that asks about new areas and you basically say its not in the best interest what changed?75.165.119.187 22:01, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Some of us PvE-only players have fought tooth-and-nail to get PvE-only skills made into normals skills (that rely on attributes rather than title grind). Ditto for Consumables. (Both have the terrible effect of causing the developers to make the game too hard because of the power inflation). MOX and Summoning stones, sure. It'd be nice if summoning stones had a secondary benefit similar to a minipet that anyone could use at any time. Ideally, no cool thing should be exclusive to one or the other. --Emkyooess 22:29, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, I didn't say it wasn't in our "best interest" to do, just that it is incredibly time consuming and requires a HUGE amount of resources. The Zaishen Menagerie is quite different from making a new playable area with monsters and quests and stuff.
As far as the actual building of the map goes, we lucked out on that. When we were figuring out what we wanted to go into this build a new Level Designer happened to be hired around the same time. So I designed the initial rough layout (on sketch paper at home lol) and then Egan (new level designer) took that and, working with Shwang (Steve Hwang, level design lead), was actually trained up for GW2 level design by making this map and arting it up to near completion. Then we sent the map over to the Level Artists for polish and Justin Fawcett cleaned up the arting that Egan did, made the lighting perfect, added his own special flavor to the little habitats and doing any bug fixing it needed. You probably don't care about all this stuff heh, but the point is, it was a fraction of the work that a zone with quests, monsters, lore, new mechanics, etc would need from any department (although Joe tells me the code was starting to get pretty complicated). - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 22:51, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Funny thing taking the new designer before he has his permanent GW2 tasks. I bet a stack of sweets that you sometimes show up at your GW2 colleagues's backs with cups of coffee and sweets and ask them to do some work for the life team. Illegally in terms of company policy (considering their current objectives for their GW2 work), unpaid in their free time, and in the tightest time frame ("not asap, but NOW while I wait. Otherwise no sweets"). Nice :) Silmar Alech 15:08, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, Silmar. Now I have a mental image of Linsey waiting to pounce as soon as her GW2-oriented colleagues try to take a lunch break... Draxynnic 01:40, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Well maybe a wee note saying its been deleted and why and then if they post it again despite that, we can tell the user directly why it was deleted and then if they proceed to posting it again a wee block may be in order. I had a few disconnects too yesterday, and yes, it seems to get worse (lagg and disconnects) close to an upcoming update (at least that's what I experienced with past updates). Might just be coincidense tho :p, or we just notice it more when there's an update comming --Ellisia talk 17:59, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
possible that theres an influx of players above the normal daily totals before a large update and it affects latency --77.97.23.245 18:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll bet it's awesome and BIG. Preparations to get it life on the server(s) must be planned and day's ahead. I't is a logical conclusion but doesn't have to be true. --Silverleaf Special:Contributions/SilverleafDon't assume, Know! 18:04, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
I also had some naaasty lag yesterday, in towns and in explorables, but I can't say I noticed this much before updates, this was the first bad one in a while. IP might be correct about the influx of players, which happens on every tournament update. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:17, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, the servers we develop on are not the same servers as the Live servers. So I don't see how that would effect latency on the Live server. -User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 18:31, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

You Develop on seperate servers disconnected from the live servers to generate a "clean" environment to test/debugg. But...the developed (and tested) packages have to transfer from the test environment to the "life" environment. This is (..my expectation) done several day's in advance to the activation of the "packages". During the transfer and placing of the packages on the "life" environment players are using the same environment. This would be a logical explanation for the disconnects & lagg. Nothing much to be done about it but communicate that "Life" new content is being added wich might hinder active play. If it where the correct explanation. --Silverleaf Special:Contributions/SilverleafDon't assume, Know! 21:19, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
* This all is meant as an interactive conversation searching for a valid reasoning about observed paterns in lagg/disconnection. NOT in anyway accusing/blaming or trying to upset anyone. Especially not Linsey*. --Silverleaf Special:Contributions/SilverleafDon't assume, Know! 21:26, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Nothing is distributed out to the Live servers until right before you get that familiar message saying there is a new build. We do integrate files up to the Live branch prior to this, but unless it's a big build (like the 4th Anniversary one), we don't do that until the day of the build. Even in the case of a really big build, Live integration would generally happen the day before, not days or weeks before. So again, I doubt it's that, but I'm not a server programmer. *shrug* - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 22:43, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

It's "Live," not "Life." And I've had some bad lag for a few days now, which is very unusual for me, but I don't know why it's happening. The live team cannot add anything without you seeing an update download when you login, and there's no reason for them to put it on the "servers" early. They release the content, it goes "live," you see an update notice if you are in the game at the time, and everyone begins downloading the new content. Soon after (a couple hours?), players who are in the "old build" get booted and forced to get the new one. I'm guessing people are just playing more, trying to get some cash for the lucky rings games to afk, or get their character to quest or cupcake farming locations, etc., or just getting back into the game in time for the new minis. But who knows... I still doubt it's anything that the developers did directly. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 18:39, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Since the last update I've had terrible lag a lot of the time. It's making it hard to play the game 'cos sometimes I get d/ced in PvP matches or just can't play. At first I assumed it was just the large numbers of people in the same PvP areas as me doing the Zaishen Combat quest, what with all the hype and everything (I remember waiting so much longer than the normally-long waiting times in AB for a match), but I seem to be getting it even in other areas, and my ping's been up in the region of 44k. Now I don't really know enough about GW's inner workings to say anything definate, but I do know I haven't had a connection anywhere like this bad pretty much ever, at least not for such an extended period of time. 82.20.20.96 20:20, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
I also have experienced a lot of abnormal lag and DCs in the last week, especially Tuesday and Wednesday (28th and 29th), which are otherwise virtually nonexistent for me. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 20:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

This update is truly epic. TY very very very much! Laserblasto! 02:12, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
A nice update, thanks for all the hard work. Strategically, adding the Zaishen Coins the way they have been added (cannot be traded, cannot be obtained through farming, direct people to specific tasks each day) was really smart. The menagerie is also very pretty, the designer who created it did a nice work (and playing the Factions music there was a very nice idea). The only "...but" I see is the price of the Equipment Pack, as those are going to be somewhat troubling to get (7500 copper coins for the big ones...), but then again each character can only get one of them anyway. Erasculio 03:20, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, excellent job, everyone. I'm going to start caring about GW more now. One gripe: at a silver coin a day, it takes 500 active days to get infinite fireworks. Eek, much? Vael Victus Pancakes. 04:06, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, the thing is, if there isn't anything to work towards, then why would you bother doing the Zquests? I do want people doing these quests often, since they will help revitalize the areas they are in each day. All the items you can get from Zcoins are tradeable, so once people start really rolling on these, there will be a market for the items so people who don't want to do the Zquests at all will be able to buy the rewards off other players who do like doing the quests. From my calculations, the 20 slot Epack will take around a week of doing each of the three quests once a day. These rewards were really difficult to balance, so we recognize that they might be a little overpriced, though something things were purposefully overprices because we didn't want this to be the default way of getting those things, just an option for it. If after a while it definitely seems like they are overpriced, then we can adjust the rewards accordingly. Just try to keep in mind that this is the FIRST day they are out and this is designed as a sustaining system, not one that pays off the first day. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 04:45, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
My favorite part so far is that hero pets count as unlocks in the menagerie. I've gone to a lot of trouble to get some of the more obnoxious pets on my heroes, Hyenas, White moas, and ravens to name a few. It would not be as big issue if there was really way to work towards 20 slot bag effectiuvelly without bypassing 20/15 slot bag. If I choose to work for 20 slot bag, I will ignore 10/15 slot bags because they would set me 6 zoins back ... half a cost of 20 bag. That leaves crap feeling because 20 slot bag is quite far (griiiind) and getting lower bag feels like waste. However, if it was possible to gradually upgrade bags like 10 slot + 4zoins = 15 slot and 15slot + 10zoins = 20 slot, it would be far more friendly. People would get their 10 slot bag in first few days and continue to upgrade from there isntead of equiping 5 slot mearch bag or none and give up on bigger bags or slowly work towards 20 slot bag. Market would be more lively too as 10 slot or 15 slot would have their place (people would buy em to upgrade them to bigger ones with their own zoins). Just food for thought. Great job Linsey! Epic update indeed. Rewards are great and I find them pretty well costed, considering it's supposed to work for long months/years. What I like a lot about this update is the heavy use of RANDOMIZATION - randomized content is a huge replayability generator, and great to see it get some real use in GW. --YawgYawg 07:58, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Linsey, I just wanted to say that you and the rest of the team did an absolutely ace'job at getting this update done, and better yet- you got it done well before the end of the month! (I hope all the cynics who've been hanging around the wiki recently are hiding in a Little Corner of Shame(tm) right now.) I know there are plenty of people around who are still complaining, but I guess you just can't please everyone. (So ignore them!) An account-wide Hall of Monuments, a menagerie, more storage, and a stylist are all things people have asked about a lot, and at least for the latter two many people said they'd be willing to pay for the features. You've catered to these requests quite nicely, so chapeau. Personally, I'm happiest with the Zaishen Quests- I have found renewed motivation to go back and do things (in Hard Mode) on characters I never intended to take into Hard Mode. I could write a lot more, but this post is already turning epic and I really need to get crackin' on BWBx10 or so. :D -- User Elveh sig.png Elv 10:26, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm a little late to the party (had a busy weekend, not all of which was update-related), but thanks for the update! I'll admit to being a little disappointed as well at the difficulty of getting the new bags, but, ehhh, the free pane has already relieved a lot of the inventory pressure and I expect I'll be able to pick up 20-slot bags at, well, around the time I need the space again. Overall, though, I'd say there's probably something here for everyone - you've got the long-term rewards, but Nicholas seems to be well-placed to satisfy those who want the quicker fix. A guildie and I have already used the Mercantile stone in the Fissure... came in quite handy. Suggestions Archive

I have had several ideas that I've posted to this talk page, and due to the current BS licensing issues, the person whom I desired to see these ideas can't comment on them. So, I was wondering, Linsey, if it might be possible at all to move all posts that end up getting the suggestion tag to another section of your user page until such time as the licensing issues blow over and you ARE able to comment on them. This way, all suggestions/ideas from the community aren't completely discarded/deleted, but are stored for future reference. Is that in any way feasible? --MushaUser Musha Sigc.pngTalk 23:47, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Although i see your point, unfortunately that can't be done. All content submitted before the license change is only released under the current license. Any subsequent change to the license will not be retroactive and thus only new suggestions after that point will be able to be commented upon. I know it's a pain but unfortunately that's how IP law works. :( -- Salome User salome sig2.png 00:20, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, besides, at least from what I understand, there's still a possibility that staff talk pages might not get the new license and it will be only for the new Feedback namespace, so she won't be able to comment here anyway. Yeah, kind of stupid... anyway, the change will hopefully be in effect soon. The discussion looks pretty much over with. Hopefully establishing the final policies will go relatively smoothly since we already had practice with the suggestion pages and (hopefully) know what works and what doesn't. — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 02:06, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Any suggestions you wish the team to see can be reposted in the new feedback namespace once the licensing issues are figured out under the new licensing. I have not deleted any of your suggestions, I have moved them to User:Musha/Suggestions. The only suggestions that have been deleted have been posted by unregistered users. Anything that gets tagged as a suggestion in the future, you should feel free to move to your userspace for safe keeping to repost at that time. All suggestion archives from prior to the licensing change will be marked as unusable. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 03:07, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
I should clarify that... anything of YOURS that gets tagged as a suggestion you should feel free to move (I'm hoping you will just refrain from posting suggestions until the issue is resolved). --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 05:02, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
So when will the licensing issues be worked out? Any idea? --Axwind 11:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Go join the discussion. I believe it's only the structure of the new namespace, and the rules for posting that still need to be worked out. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 17:53, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
Awesome, thank you Wyn. Yeah, what I will do from now on is post them on my new suggestions page, created by you, so I don't forget about them, and then repost them when the issue clears up. Thank you. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.pngTalk 18:14, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Grats to all who got NPCs named after them! Emryd the Tamer is also named for a frequent wiki user, our very own Emily Diehl (also known as "Emry" to some of her friends). I'll take the opportunity now to explain a little bit about my process for naming NPCs.
The naming of an NPC usually doesn't come until after the NPC has been fully fleshed out. It's generally the last piece to the puzzle, though I do start earlier in gathering names of people I think deserve to get an NPC in the game. I don't tailor fit NPC behavior to the personality of who it's being named after, though we have done this before, usually it's just a matter of "I've got X NPCs that need names" and I just match up the names from my list to the NPCs. I do try to keep the gender of the NPC appropriate to it's namesake.
I try to keep a running list of names to use, though more often than not the names are found last minute when I have to get names in for Localization so people I have been interacting with regularly stand out more in my mind. I like to choose people who I think have had positive contributions to the community, who have been helpful in bridging the gap between the Dev Studio and the Community, or are especially helpful to players seeking help on the wiki or in game. There are only so many NPCs to name, so I can't do it for everyone and people are bound to be left out even if they fit all the "qualifications". Sometimes there is someone who is quite worthy, but their in-game name just isn't suited well to naming a service NPC after and their real name isn't "fantasy world" enough for the particular NPCs being named.
I don't take requests, so asking me for an NPC is a good way to not get one. I don't want people to feel like they can pressure me into doing something like that, it makes me very uncomfortable. These are gifts, not something that is to be expected and not everyone who does good things for the community is likely to get one. There are only so many NPCs. Just because you might be worthy doesn't mean it will happen. I don't want people freaking out if they didn't get a NPC and if that starts to become an issue, I am pretty decent at making names up and have had many pets with clever names. Please don't make me start naming things after long dead hamsters. - User Linsey Murdock sig.jpgLinsey talk 19:30, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Everyone in my alliance is loving the ability to change our characters (though almost none of us can change their faces--too big a part of their identity I guess), and we love Nicholas the Traveler and the Zaishen Quests. Thanks so much for your time, effort and dedication :) --fraught · (talk) 05:22, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Hey, I found the Linsey appreciation thread! Great job on the update! (also a big thank you to the rest of the live team and everyone else who worked on this update, it's amazing!) WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 22:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
They did Awesome :). --Silverleaf Special:Contributions/SilverleafDon't assume, Know! 16:26, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
I think this kind of thread is really needed, especially when most people only post here if they have negative issues. So I want thank you and the whole team. I really appreciate this update and I think it brought new depth and and joy to the game. Thank you! --Balwin 16:26, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Hats off to you Linsey and the Live-Team!! Awesome job!!MystiLefemEle 08:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Invoker title

A friend of mine told me that there was something called an Invoker title, and it worked like this: everytime a party member uses a summoning stone, everyone in the party gets 1 pt in the title. He said it worked like that because if you only let one person gain the pt, it becomes a race to see who pops one first, and its unfair to the others. Also that way ppl are encouraged to group with as many as possible and to be generous. Lastly he also told me you planned on adjusting the price to craft stones, as they are unfeasibly high at the moment to make, and people use only the ones they get as drops. Is this true or was he just making stuff up? :) 201.6.66.4 01:51, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

It's made up. ~>Sins WDBUser The Sins We Die By Sig.png 02:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Yep. I've used a mysterious and don't have any. Also, if someone saw it, there would be an 'invoker' page on the wiki in minutes :). --Star Weaver 02:26, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Damn. He could have fooled me, it sounded pretty cool -wink-. :) 201.6.66.4 02:57, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

It is something someone has suggested they add User:Anvar Le Barbare/Suggestions for Guild Wars. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 03:32, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Anvar wasn't first (I don't think). Another version of this was the Summoner title, and the idea's been around for a while, for the title, for the GH NPC, etc. Anyways, read Linsey's FAQ: no more titles, which I whole-heartedly agree with. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 06:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Titles are bad for a game that was a game of skill. Boro 10px‎ 11:54, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
There are basically 3 ways to keep people playing. One is adding new goals (new titles, HoM statues). Another is adding new content (areas, monsters), and the third one is changing current content (ex: HM, changing monster skill bars, placing environmental effects, whatever). Of these, which do you think is more likely to happen? At least the OP was aiming at something feasible. What's your goal, boro and rose? Just shoot the dying game dead already? Would be nice if they nerfed shadow form/600 smite. overhauled a bunch of monster skill bars. Or made someth like Extra-Hard Mode. Or a new Realm of the Gods. The chance of one of those happening? 0. I'd rather root for someth small and doable. But that's just me I guess. 187.37.61.157 13:32, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Um... I don't have a goal, I stated what Linsey has been saying for a long time now, you can actually go read it instead of pinning it on me. If they make more titles, they'll have to increase max GWAMM rank, because 6 will no longer be "hard" as it was supposed to be, everyone will have it as long as they can just pay for it. Who's to stop a cash-loaded cow from buying a zillion summoning stones and zoning back an forth just to rack up the points? That's hardly a title, we already have 3 of those... Just another gold sink, it doesn't even have to be bought from other players, just craft the stones after buying a bunch of gold from RMT, yay, let's encourage more RMT! I have nothing against HoM statues, as they aren't linked to anything else, in fact I've been suggesting a statue of Melandru for unlocking all tiers of all pets in the Menagerie. Still can't think of anything fitting for Lyssa... Maybe learn every skill (elite AND non-elite) in the game? That fits with her multi-faceted nature. I want to have all 5 true gods on my Honor display. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 19:33, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
rank 6 on GWAMM isn't hard. Making a rank 7 would be a risky move (i'd be eligible, but lots of ppl would be angry as hell). Anyway. GW is dying. I don't mean this in a drama-queen manner, its just a statement of a fact. I'm moving on to doing other things, I believe most will too. I think Linsey's role as leader of live team would be to add as much replayability as possible with very limited resources. Shrug. I don't think she's capable (in terms of time/effort) to do something as revolutionary as, say, HM. THAT could have been much better (monster skill bars anyone?) and it STILL managed to have huge impact. I don't think anything like it is feasible right now, so she's limited to very tiny very cosmetic little updates. And her unwillingness to do skill balance (or whoever the hell is "responsible" for it, who seems to be on extended vacation to another dimension) is really a sign of how little she can or will do. It's downhill from here. So... sure. just kick another suggestion down the drain. It's not like anyth relevant will get done. -shrug- 187.37.61.157 20:05, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Archived question without an answer

I really appreciate the work that Wyn has been doing with helping Linsey archive things. I'm sure it's a great help. However I had a question on the rainbow phoenix, and that question was archived to Bugs. Not only is it not a bug, but there wasn't what I would consider a suitable answer. If Wyn thinks that I have been answered fully, at the very least it should have been archived to questions. But I don't want to be the one to start moving things around without discussing it first. I think this is the best place to discuss the management of Linsey's talk page, but if not, please accept my apologies and point me in the right direction. --Nkuvu User Nkuvu sig button.jpg 20:08, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Nkuvu, sorry... somehow I took it with the section above it that was to be archived in Bugs, and was also about the Rainbow Phoenix. My Error. Here is the restored section, still awaiting Linsey's answer. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 21:19, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
No worries. Like I said, I know you've been doing a lot of work to help keep this page tidy. And like I said, I didn't want to start messing up the work you've done based on how I understand the wiki -- which is often contrary to how the wiki actually works (mostly due to the fact that I don't spend nearly as much time here as you do). I did try to split off the topic to show it was distinct from the bug which was scheduled to be archived, but I realize I could have made that more clear.
I'll also take a moment to mention that I don't feel that it needs to be answered by Linsey directly before it can be archived, but I did want to discuss it a bit more. Thanks for your help. --Nkuvu User Nkuvu sig button.jpg 21:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
