- Ohhhh my god I'm such a noob. I saw I had a "message" and wound up here. Is this my talk page then? LOL
- Argh and is it supposed to be a minor edit if I edit my page to post a reply to someone else's comment, or not? Presumably not... Oh well I'll figure it out eventually, probably the hard way. ;) Smarty 13:41, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- save it as a minor edit, dont know why but i think theres a reason. --Cursed Angel 15:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- There's no real rule about minor or not, but it's appreciated if you do check minor edit when you edit your userpage, it steals less attention from the vandal watchers :) Welcome to the wiki! - anja 16:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the replies. :) (Also belatedly hi to Aiiane, who I know from GWO - was too busy being confuzzled to reply properly earlier. :P) I'll stick to minor edits for anything on my own pages, then, and hope I always remember to check the box. Actually, I think I saw something in an option somewhere about edits being minor by default, will go see if I can find it again. Smarty 18:28, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
- In terms of whether or not to mark replies as minor, there's only really one thing to consider, everything else is superfluous: the wiki has an option to "Email me if my talk page is changed". By default, it'll only send an email for non-minor edits (there's another option right after that for "email me even for minor edits to my talk page"). Thus, if you don't want to spam someone with emails during an active conversation, it's generally considered polite to mark your talk page edits as minor (that way they only get emails if they've specifically chosen to get them for every message).
- On the other hand, if you're leaving a message for someone who may not check the wiki often, or that you aren't in the middle of a conversation with, it's quite possibly a good idea to not mark your edit as minor, so that they'll get the email notification and know that someone's trying to contact them. :) (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 02:00, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- So many nuances! :) I'm guessing Gaile gets so many comments that she won't want emailing every time there's an edit (and neither will anyone who's watching her page), so I'll mark stuff as minor there as well. Thanks for the continued feedback. Three edits just for one paragraph cos I'm still learning layout conventions - grrr! Sorry to anyone watching the minor changes. :P- Smarty 02:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
