Welcome![edit]
Hello, Nicky Silverstar, and welcome to the Official Guild Wars Wiki! If you need help with anything, please feel free to add a message to my talk page. I highly recommend that you check out the "Welcome to the wiki" page - it's extremely useful as an initial guide. Best of luck and happy editing! --Santax (talk · contribs) 09:16, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi[edit]
Hey there, I archived your removed comments as per Guild Wars Wiki:User pages. If you want to remove a comment from this page, copy it into an archive. Thanks, -- Brains12 \ Talk 22:43, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- What a stupid rule. It was just filled with junk that nobody cared about anyway, and since I won't post any links to any archives, nobody will ever read it. So why the rule? And where can I go to suggest a change? Nicky Silverstar 22:46, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- Guild Wars Wiki talk:User pages. But take note, a change has been suggested and rejected before. -- Brains12 \ Talk 22:48, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Readem[edit]
Can I suggest that you just stay away from Readem? Saying that "he's hardly ever right" and "just trolls" isn't really making things better. - anja 22:34, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, but I had a point to make. Nicky Silverstar 22:37, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- My point was about the post on Readem's talk page, nothing else. I think you posting your view on his behaviour on the ArbComm talk page is needed, just be careful and avoid personal attacks there too (don't know if there were any). Personal attacks detracts from the actual point you are trying to make, and also you know how much I "like" them. :) - anja 22:44, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I know what you mean. I'll try not to make any personal attacks, but I don't always mean it that way. For instance, when I said Readem twists words, I meant the part where I said "I'd love it if Burning Speed were useful." and he then quoted me as saying that I like (and use) the skill, which to me is twisting of words. I personally see that as a statement of facts instead of twisting of words, so I don't always know that I am personally assaulting someone. Please feel free to correct me anytime. Hai[edit]
The problem is that the vast majority of players ARE bad. I mean, I'm better than a lot of people and still suck. Lord of all tyria 19:14, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- The problem is that nobody has the right to call someone else bad. Because what is the definition of bad? Is it "you don't use a metagame build"? Is it "you ask for a buff for a skill nobody ever uses"? Is it "you don't play high end PvP"? Or is it "you're not me"?
- I'll give you an example: Recently, I have created an Elementalist build that absolutely trashes the monsters in Hard Mode (no, it does not use UB). Yet people always request me to be a Fire Elementalist when I show them my build.
- In their eyes, I am a bad player. In my eyes, they are, for they never even consider the fact that Earth Magic can be more powerful than Fire Magic (and with my build it is, believe it or not).Nicky Silverstar 08:25, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
- Bad players use sig devo during the spike and Spirit Bond after. Bad players clump up for AoE to kill them all and then rage at the monks. Bad players frontline on their monks so as to gain the maximum benefit from Channeling. Bad players rely on things like Searing Flames and Savannah Heat to kill things and therefore waste entire characters to make one skill on their bar worthwhile (and generally use sup runes to gimp themselves further). Bad players cannot conceive of a support class, and therefore think paragons are bad. Bad players, in short, cannot brain, and there are a large number of bad players. -- Armond Warblade 07:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- If SF and SH are not suited to kill things, then why do people always complain when I ask for a buff hmm? Or maybe there are different ways to play this game. Nicky Silverstar 16:03, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- There are. Doesn't stop most people being bad at it though. Lord of all tyria 16:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- True, some people don't know what they're doing yet. But being bad is mostly a matter of perspective. In my perspective. You call yourself a bad player...how about getting a little self esteem instead of allowing the elite to talk you into thinking you're a bad player? You payed just as much for the game, so you have the same rights as they do. Nicky Silverstar 16:09, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'd love to have your faith in the players of this game...Lord of all tyria 16:29, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- I simply refuse to let the the masses dictate me how to play. I'll think for myself, and I believe that everyone can. Nicky Silverstar 20:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- The game has tons of cheap gimmicks that you can just buttonmash, that is why everyone is bad. --TimeToGetIntense 09:50, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Including or excluding you? My personal experience is that people often call something a 'gimmick' if it isn't a meta build, or not doing what they think it should do. "Elementalists as damage dealers? That's just a gimmick build!" Nicky Silverstar 09:52, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- If I said I wasn't bad, that would get me flamed, so I'm gonna say I'm bad. I'm not an uber-pro veteran and I haven't been in a top 50 guild so I'm bad. Gimmicks are generally meta builds that don't have a good balance of professions and rely on easy to use skills such as Searing Flames. You simply activate your skills and you win. There's no skill involved. Those builds can't adapt to hard counters and can be beaten by good players running adaptable balanced builds, but it doesn't matter. They earn fame, they earn glad points, they earn ladder rank. In the end, they reward you for being bad. --TimeToGetIntense 13:06, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- I won't flame you, or at least, my intention is not to insult you. I disagree with the fact that any button mash build requires no skill though, but some builds require more skill than others, that is true. Still, to just say that the players using them are bad players... Nicky 13:26, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you don't get any better at the game by running gimmicks or playing against them. Your skills and strategies become dull when you don't practice them. The huge increase in gimmicks and easy overpowered skills in Nightfall caused the general level of skill to drop and many players quit. There were some other issues as well. They stopped doing World Championships, which had huge cash prizes and when people realized there would be no Nightfall World Championship a lot of people quit and the level of competition fell even lower. --TimeToGetIntense 14:01, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

- I don't even have the lame deer emote because I started playing when Factions came out, and only reached HA 6 months later (it took me a month to get through RA and TA because I didn't want to copy builds and I wanted to make my own through experience). Bascially, when I finally reached HA, it was filled with people that didn't want me along. So I decided that it wasn't worth my time and effort. What I think about those people (including you 90.277), I'll keep to myself. Nicky Silverstar 16:07, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey, on your little character things where you use -->, may I suggest changing that to either → (→

- Hey Nicky, could you upload that sig image as a seperate image (and using the user image naming)? It's just that sig images should be "unique" whereas that's an image used for skills. Guild Wars Wiki:Sign your comments has more information. Thanks, -- Brains12 \ Talk 20:19, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Skill feedback[edit]
Remember to fill out all the details, including your username, on Izzy's skill feedback pages. -- Brains12 \ Talk 18:58, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- I couldn't figure out where, so where should I add that?--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Nicky Silverstar (talk).
- I filled it out for you, so you don't need to worry about the ones you just did. To see where you should fill things out, read the template and, in particular, look out for the <!-- instruction here --> bits. Relace all of that code (including the arrows and dashes etc) with what it tells you to. -- Brains12 \ Talk 19:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't know that that was the place that I needed to put my username. I thought it was the issue's title. My humble apologies, it won't happen again. Nicky Silverstar 19:03, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
