Well, Wind Prayers has always been offensive utility. Attacker's Insight, Whirling Charge, Harrier's Grasp, etc. However, in adding utility to scythe mastery itself, I've effectively eliminated the need for wind prayers. Putting more, stacking offensive utility in Wind Prayers could be a nightmare, as it would no longer be providing a necessary function, it would be going above and beyond.
It's not that Wind Prayers itself would be exceptionally difficult, but managing the synergies would be a huge problem. It would either come down to Wind Prayers being useless or too useful. So what I'm probably going to have to do is to add in Wind Prayers as I'd like them to be, then scale back the power of the class as a whole to prevent it from becoming too powerful. After that, I'd have to give the entire update a huge scouring to make sure I didn't create any unforseen synergies (check out Sand Shards + Pre-update Eremites. Stuff like that is a problem.)
The reason why I haven't started on Wind Prayers yet is because I don't have a vision of what I want it to do, there's no model. Any ideas would be appreciated, tbh. Raine - talk 14:40, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- Personally, I think you have taken the wrong approach to the whole rebalance and that has probably left you in a bit of a hole. To rebalance a class you need to think about the class' current role, what is wrong with that role, then define a new role that is useful and change skill functionality towards that new goal. The attributes can the be split to cover different ways of achieving the overall role or something. Also I'll note that most classes have a useless attribute line that is seldom used. - There's no reason why an enchantment/hex can't have a function similar to a hex/enchantment (Life Transfer, for example, is a hex that gives the caster regen). Also, there is an enchantment that can target foes: Vampiric Spirit. Both mechanics are already in place. That is, if that's what you meant to ask.
