The thing is we need passive defense to stay alive.At a time of this much power creep and actually at any time you ALWAYS NEED SOME FORM OF PASSIVE DEFENSE.It is however when you bring this much defense youre opponent cant kill but you can spike (like you said yourself) problems arise. Removing Passive defense wont work.However a good solution to start with is STRONGLY REDUCE the ability of :
- Casters to deal damage,Increase the utility they have.
- Paragons to actually heal.They shouldnt be able to do more then just great support
These 2 things would actually already help a lot.If casters can barely reach the 100 damage limit -this might seem strange but izzy hasnt rly done more then buff this damage buff that damage nerf this kind of utility buff that kind of damage - well alreayd enjoy pvp a lot more.The more damage there is the more NEED there is after a defenseball.Izzy tries to discourage the use of a defenseball by offering very easy ways to crack it (AKA Mark of Insecurity) however what guildwars needs is actually someone who lessens the need of the defenseball.There always were casterspikes but they werent nearly as effective as they are now.Take a look at FoC can you even imagen people used it to spike ?
The result of all this power creep is people taking an extra 120 health and blocking stances or atleast somedefense.
Hope we can discuss this a bit trough.

- I think that if there were defense for caster spikes, there would be defenseway for caster spikes, too. Unfortunately, there isn't, so it's never really become a functional meta.
- I don't think that passive defense would be needed if passive offense didn't exist. Active defense should counter active offense, passive defense should counter passive offense.
- The reason Balanced is run is because it relies on player skill, and can therefore be used in a lot of situations, and more effectively by more skilled teams. There really aren't many caster builds that one could say the same thing about. Raine - talk 12:51, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I fully agree however melee deals a lot of damage.You cant just guardian every single fucking target.Aegis is something that I actually like because : You can dshot it,It has a high cost and ofcourse it requires positioning now.It fucks youre pressure up for shure or atleast it SHOULD.It is however balanced by skills like power block.Aegis should however need 1 more change making you sacc a secondary on youre midline.TBH I would love to transform casters in pressure/utility machines with nearly no spiking damage! - The big problems are power creep and bad skill design. Solution: Multiply everyone's health by 5, so lame spike builds disappear.
