User talk:Raine Valen/Musings/Redbar Efficiency
Unfortunately raw healing doesn't define a good skill =( It is amusing though, that so many crappy skills (Preservation, healing ring, LSW) have such a higher potential for healing than some of the best skills (rof, patient, pwk). Unfortunately so many of those skills are shitty b/c it's almost impossible to actually meet their full potential. While skills like patient and PWK might have absolutely terrible energy efficients compared to other skills, they're the most effective b/c the ALWAYS heal up to their full potential every cast.--TahiriVeila 02:25, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Preservation, I can see - the only way to ensure that it heals for its full potential is to leave everyone with less than 122 less than their maximum health at any given time. Some of the other skills, though, are better than I thought they would be. For example, Shield Guardian: it's only got to heal, what, 3 people to be more efficient than Patient (not counting the fact that it blocks an attack)? How many times do you see a war smack someone with two allies nearby in HA? Or Spirit Light Weapon: it's got a fairly easy-to-meet condition (especially with good spirit positioning), and a person need only be taking a small amount of damage for SLW to heal at its maximum efficiency.
- While, yeah, I do see your point and agree with it, a lot of the skills here are, well, potentially (and not so far off from practically) better than I would have thought. — Raine Valen 2:31, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- Also, party healing is twice as effective in 8v8, obviously. — Raine Valen 2:32, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- Also, I bet I could drop Patient in my Healing Burst bar for Gift of Health and do better. — Raine Valen 3:02, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, so I forgot that it can't self-target, so people can just train me to death and Burst doesn't recharge fast enough. Hurdur. — Raine Valen 3:20, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
This makes me wish that there were an easy, comprehensive way to quantify non-healing qualities of skills. For example, Mend Condition. It obv doesn't heal for as much as WoH, but how much is the condition removal worth? — Raine Valen 2:38, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- When you're not running RC (I.E. back in the old immediate post-buff PnH meta) mend condition is run very often b/c it's got the potential for really huge redbar.--TahiriVeila 02:51, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
Why did you choose party size 4 over party size 8? Not that it makes too much difference in the calculations, but entertain me. --Riddle 02:43, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- In 8v8, spikes matter, so hugely inneficient skills like Infuse Health become have much more added value tacked onto them. In 4v4, it's all about pressure, so efficiency wins. — Raine Valen 3:00, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
Check this out dawg. elix Omni 02:58, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Where's Infuse Health? Anyway, you know there's something wrong when an Elite is shittier than Shield Guardian. →[ »Halogod (talk)« ]← 03:40, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Infuse is horribly inefficient, considering the self-sac. — Raine Valen 3:42, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- Hell, it's even inneficient without considering the self-sac. — Raine Valen 3:42, 8 Mar 2011 (UTC)
- I don't understand where you're getting these numbers from. PS heals for 120, SG heals for 80. And it's better. Elaborate for tards. →[ »Halogod (talk)« ]← 03:43, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, wait. Disregard that steak sauce. I understand now. →[ »Halogod (talk)« ]← 03:46, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
