Heroes sense of energy

Hi there.
Recently we've had several updates to 'improve' heroes AI, I have some suggestions to improve it.
1: give heroes a sense of energy, now they don't adapt to the amount of energy they got, they just stop using skills when they're out of energy. Also, Boon Signet and Defender's Zeal are not used for energy at all. the only reason heroes use boon signet is for the heal. When they have nothing to do (because they are out of energy) they just wait for the natural regen instead of using boon signet for some quick energy.
2: heroes still use and cancel res signet and tainted flesh rapidly when they are on guard and flagged. (this was claimed to be fixed)

Innappropriate Character Names

I tried to ask this question on plaync but it doesn't seem to recognize my account even when i'm logged in, and when i try to create an account it says my email is in use, and when i ask for the password it says it doesn't exist. so please pass that on to PlayNC becuase ther is no live support over there. So any way, my question is: If a characters name is flagged as being innappropriate and you change it, do you lose access to armors and weapons customized under the original characters name?User talk:Zealous010 12:10 am EST, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

There are options for reseting your password and e-mailing you a new one. Use that. And to answer your question: No. — Poki#3 My Talk Page :o 08:43, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer and i will try to get my password reset but like i said, it lets me log into my plaync account but when i try to ask a question it says that it doesn't exist. User:Zealous010 14:44, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Plaync Support

Ok i mentioned it above abou how i can log into PLayNC but when i go to ask a question and put in all my info it says that it doesn't recognize my email. And when i go to create an account it says that that email is in use. Who do i go to becuase i cannot ask a question on that site becuase of the problem mentioned here? Economy Bombing

After I buy my fire gloves, I'm not going to have anything to spend my moneys on. So me and my friend were thinking we'd buy tons of Monstrous Eyes and then sell them for a lot later. If that even happens o'course but anyway, I was just wondering if that's illegal or something. I mean you see my d00d with like 500 monstrous eyes in his storage, and you'd be a tad suspicious. Vael Victus Pancakes. 01:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

rofl, you mean 250k ectos sold to trader, will drop them to very low, around 100gp ea start farming! Annoying And Deadly 03:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Buying and selling a mere 500 monstruous eyes probably wouldn't be enough to bomb the economy... I guess you'd lower the price by a couple hundred golds, top. I mean, did you see what happened to the dervish runes when they introduced MOX ? Sure, the rune traders ran out of most runes pretty soon, but when they did have some available, they weren't that much more expensive than usually... 86.209.97.228 15:33, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Guildname change?

Hi Regina! I Was thinking that its a good idea to be able to change your guilds name. Then u can keep all your records, but still have a name you like and are happy with. Megalodon 09:11, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

That's a nice wish. Though i did read that capes and guild awards are tagged to the Guild-/tag name. So that would mean all accomplishments (gold-, silver-, bronze-cape trim and honor points) that guild ever achieved would be lost. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 16:38, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

GvG Update

I was wondering if a counter or some sort of thing under the the health chart panel could be added for aggressivness. It is really fustrating when you use health and aggressivness but don't tell the teams what the current level is at.--129.21.100.156 20:01, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

rofl xD Vael Victus Pancakes. 14:56, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I raised the issue of having a visible way of telling how aggressive your side is, so that teams can compensate in their play, but right now this is not something they want to do. Players will have to judge this on their own. Teams have to be playing to win, instead of playing to not-lose. The design team believes that, like in many sports in the real world, extremely defensive play is boring. They want to see more aggression, which they believe is a lot more exciting to play and to watch. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 20:28, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
So, now Arenanet's telling people how to play? o.O PvP matches are incredibily samey, and very boring to watch, generally because they're the same from match to match. People just start copying each other. PvP isn't really exciting either way when you know that the next match you watch is pretty much going to be a copy and paste job of the one you are watching or just wanted. 118.92.210.136 09:41, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
That's not as big a problem as all the random bullshit they're adding. No VoD? Not the best plan, but arguments could fly either way. An arbitrary tiebreaker at 28 minutes? No, that was a purely bad change. Now they're adding in random shit that's so random ANet doesn't want to put in a bar for it? What is this, GvG or a lottery? Catapults are bad enough, we don't need an invisible graph that decreases if you prot the lord. Most of the prots that cause problems are partywide and don't touch the lord anyway - you aren't addressing the defense ball problem, you're only addressing using prots on the lord, which was never a problem in the first place. Stop fixing problems that don't exist. If you want to punish defenseball, make the aggressiveness bar go down every time Aegis or Defensive Anthem is used, not whenever the lord gets protted. That's just a bad, arbitrary change that doesn't actually solve any problems. -Auron 09:48, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
This is worse than than GL health becuase it is so arbitrary. How can you tell how much each skille effects the aggressive/defensive level. You put on Shield of Absorbtion and it activates everytime the GL is hit. So will the defensive number go up every time? Same thing with attacking an enemy Guild Lord. At least with the health you could guesstimate who is winning, but with this new system it really is the lottery. There is no abiltiy for players to check to see if there is an error in the system. For all we know ANET can choose who wins if they don't like a certian guild. I know that sounds really stupid, but ANET has shown favorability to certian guilds in the past. One example is RAWR and the deletion of thier guild. If you don't want to put in a graph or a bar, then release exactly how this value is calcualted down to the decimel place so people can adjust thier play and not have it be some random decision. Also if any staff members talks about how the system works to one guild, it would be favoritism and bias on the staff's part.
Also teams should know when they are playing too defensive. By adding in some sort of chart you encourage the teams to attack or lose. Also more defensive play while not encouraged should be allowed, since that is a play style and from the statements made by ANET, you want a vareity of play styles. Also people get very fustrated watching if a winner is dicided at random, if you watch the World Cup or the Super Bowl and there is a tie at the end of the last quarter, it would make everyone mad if the rest chose a winner based on the more aggressive team. Having a graph or bar will keep people at the edge of their seats and force teams to take risks in order to win.
Just want to give you Regina a thumbs up for trying to get a bar or something, and 2 thumbs down of the competitive play team for just making the end game of GvG more random than ever.--129.21.213.83 15:40, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I have the feeling that this change is more of a temporary measure, introduced somewhat hastily for the September tournament. If that guess is true, maybe the developers thought it would not be worth creating a new interface design for a feature that may be removed in a couple weeks. I do hope that, if this feature is made permanent, they do add a bar (it would fit nicely in the Score Chart). Erasculio 16:19, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
When Prophecies was first released, there were lots of numbers missing from the skills. Things like the attack speed gain, walking speed reduction and sometimes even energy loss were referred to only vaguely, in an attempt by Anet to mask the game's math from the player. The result was that players worked out the math by experimentation anyway, and the vagueness became an inconvenience that had to be worked around. To their credit, Anet realized this fairly early after release and altered all skills to give exact numerical values to ALL effects caused by a skill. This opening up of the game's mechanics was met with almost universal acclaim. Unfortunately, the introduction of a new "invisible" game mechanic in the form of "aggressiveness" seems to hearken back to Anet's early strategy of vagueness. They should know from their history that obfuscating the game mechanics only results in inconvenience and frustration for the players. I hope this is not part of a trend. --User mrsmiles tinysmile.png MrSmiles 15:04, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Blindfold clipping issues and dye

Probably been brought up before. The clipping issues with Blindfolds coupled with the fact we cannot dye them to at least cover some clipping issues makes me wonder why developers even bothered putting it into the game in the first place. Wasting 50 Diessa Chalices to find that your blindfold looks ridiulous due to clipping is a big dissapointment, finding out that there's absolutely no intention to even fix the clipping or make them at least dyable to try and cover the clipping in some way is an even bigger dissapointment. What's the point of putting something into the game thats broken in some way with no intention to fix it in one way or another? 86.1.180.218 14:06, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Jewish New Year 5769

I rather hoped the Jewish New Year (5769) would generate a party in GW too? Since we all respectfully joy in other peoples accomplishments and cultures? Was there a specific reason for not celebrating this in-game with an international community? --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 12:21, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Halloween. Only one festival at a time. Only one each month. Halloween > Rosh Hashanah. That's all it takes. Anyways, Halloween has celtic origins, and Celtic is more related to me than jewish, so I'm perfectly fine with that. On top of that, there are no in-game people you could relate to the jewish. Both the contries in Tyria and Elona celebrate Wintersday. The dredge where enslaved and looked for somewhere else to live... but I don't think relating a jewish party to them because of that being a good idea at all. It just don't fit in. And what would yo do? Make monsters drop honey, apples, fish heads and pomegranates? Collectors exchanging horns for stuff? Making an explorable version of Nolani Academy were you can freely blow the Stormcaller? MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 13:00, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Drops in GW are fun...Sugar drops at the end of Ramadan, Jewish New Year Party item drops. For that matter, non of the gw gods relate to xmas now do they? --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 14:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

You also have to look at it from a business standpoint. Millions of dollers are speant hiping up Holloween and Christmas, as a non-Jewish person I am not aware of Jewish holidays. Sure they can do lots of differnt holidays but they don't have the resources for that, and a lot of people will be wondering what the holiday is. If you really want to celebrate in game your best option would be to have a in game celebration with other members of your community. I know my Guild LaZy holds huge celebrations for Oktoberfest and the Guild's Birthday. If you really want to have something happen, organize the event your self.--129.21.100.156 15:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I am an Atheist. I just hoped for an in-game celebration for the educational and title value point of view. Since we are one big happy family and work hard for our titles and stuff. --Silverleaf User Silverleaf sig.pngDon't assume, ask! 15:37, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, I would love some Gelt along with my Candycanes :). I don't think Rosh Hashanah would make a very good full out event, though a weekend would be nice. But like I said, during the Wintersday celebrations, just some minor drops to go along with all the christmas goodies. It is true that these would be somewhat unknown, but some fun drops could be nice, even if you didn't fully understand why the charr are dropping apples and honey =P-Warior Kronos User Warior Kronos Sig.jpg 19:32, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Wintersday is actually about the Winter Solstice, not about Christmas. Christmas was an 'overlay' celebration Christians invented to eclipse the pagan celebrations during the Winter Solstice. And Halloween is at the Autumn Equinox. And the Canthan new year is at the Spring Equinox... they don't need to be related to religions. Only to changes from a quarter to the next. But, hey, they did Saint Patrick's and Talk like a pirate day. So as long as it's just a drop event and not a festival, I won' mind the free drops. I'll pay a visit to my dear friends the Vaettir and collect some stuff. As long as they also celebrate that way the Day of Ninjas (December 5th) and Oktoberfest (by making all kinds of booze drop anywhere for a weekend, yeah) MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:51, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
Mith I dont think you can lump canthan new year in with the others, as although most of the western holidays appropriated pagan holidays, eastern mysticism didnt really do the same thing and the canthan new year varies with the chinese lunar calendar. Admittedly though halloween coincides with Samhain and xmas coincides with Yule but thats really all semantics. As the message of the holiday in christianty is supposed to be what its about rather than how accurately placed on the calender it is. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 23:37, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Salvage Kits etc

It might just be me, and it probably is, but having aquired a number of perfect salvage kits and placing them in storage, I've found myself in the situation where I have multiple kits with 1, 2, 3, and 4 uses left, due to the fact I didn't take the time to check which one was the most used and finish that one first before starting a new one. Just wondered if it could be made possible to drag and drop same type kits onto each other in order to free up inventory space, obviously up to the max of 5 uses, and similarly with normal salvage kits, id kits and expert kits etc.... I'm guessing I may not be the only one who experiences this, although I wouldn't place any money on that assumption. I know it's not something major, or high priority and isn't really gonna change the world, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. Thx Magua 11:58, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

The same point in every other title that does nothing? >> Vael Victus Pancakes. 00:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
It could lead to player discrimination, as some people would assume that how much experience you have equals how skilled you are. The other titles are for more peripheric activities, but titles based on experience or /age, two things everyone has, have a very high likehood of introducing in PvE the same kind of discrimination we see with rank in PvP. Erasculio 02:49, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
We already have a title for that. It's called your level. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 03:05, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
rite ok except not Vael Victus Pancakes. 00:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Doubtful. If anything, discrimination should be happening based on KoaBD titles, or any achievement-based titles. That would make sense, because they are a much better indication of your skill than either age or level. Yet I've just never heard of it or seen it happen (rep discrimination for Ursan aside). -- Alaris_sig Alaris 03:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
The achievements are too peripherical and just too uncommon to make any difference (someone demanding to play only with others who have Legendary Guardian would need to have the title itself, and would soon learn that he wouldn't find enough people to make half a team with), and KoaBD is linked to too much irrelevant stuff (I doubt anyone would consider the Lucky title to be a symbol of skill, and it's part of KoaBD). The problem with age and experience is that everyone has both of those, and they're not a matter of all or nothing - they, like the Norn title track and the ranks of Heroes' Ascent, are continuous variables. Someone demanding to play only with those having one thousand million experience points would find himself in the same situation as the Legendary Guardian mentioned above, but there's still a lot of discrimination possible at lower thresholds. Erasculio 03:38, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Since you get more experience while playing alone, such a title would just treat being in autistic mode. So it's not an option. Look at all the other titles, they are easier with the direct help of others. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:39, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
People already have trouble getting groups. I stopped being discriminated against with 4 lightbringer like forever ago. No one will give a damn, especially since everyone knows exp means squat. Vael Victus Pancakes. 00:03, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
My dervish literally got about half her experience from HFF leaching.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 00:43, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
Well if as you say it means squat, again whats the point in the title. I'm not being glib here vael but you have gave no valid reasoning behind the addition of such a title and instead you've just given flippant remarks to those who don't understand the point in such a title. As at least the other titles show you've actually done something even if that something is sat brainlessly farming lb and ss faction points. The xp title would show nothing. Like my ranger is at over 10 million xp and shes my main but my monk and my ele which i farm with and have done virtually nothing else with, have substantially more xp than my ranger, just due to the constant farming with them. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 14:23, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
I suppose I was a bit rash. The idea is that exp does mean squat, so you add a title and it at least means something. It currently can mean just how much time you spent doing a bunch of things in GW. ;-; I don't know, I just thought it'd be nice for it to mean something a bit more than squat. Vael Victus Pancakes. 01:04, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong mate, I agree with you that xp should mean more in GW, but I'm just not sure a title is the way to go about it. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 11:19, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Exactly. Why add a title that no one would care about? If you want to keep track of your experience, you can just check your exp bar. Titles that bots can make easier than humans are not very good titles (That includes drunkard). An XP title would have the only real purpose of showing off in fron of new players that do not know that Epx is almost nothing in GW. You can even have all PvP-able skills at level 2 because of tomes and quite a lot of titles thanks to account-wide ones. An exp title makes no sense in GW. If were gained in the same amount regardless of number of party members, it would be a different thing. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:28, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
