Quite possibly spam and/or vandalism. Consider deleting. I'm not a member of the wiki crew or I would do it myself. --Wolf 18:19, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Text in talk pages is no to be deleted unless in extreme cases.... but there are policies about harassments. If Regina finds this annoying, it could be a reason to give a little warn to the perpetrator. On top of that, Larvitar is a much cooler pokémon. MithTalk 19:34, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

- Dear Regina, thanks for being able to withstand so much heat (as mentioned above by yourself). I hope you are enjoying your new job, and I hope your shaping/communicating with the community pays off when the bomb drops. I do not envy your precarious position, but I appreciate your responses. You, in my humble opinion, are very much helping clear the opaqueness away that many GW fans have felt. As always, thanks for the responses you provide. Sincerely, Ravious 16:26, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Aye, the amount of sheer mrrfgrumph grmburf stupid, entitlement, whining, and immaturity is astounding, and would have me rabid and attempting to reach through the internets to put staples in people's ear lobes inside of a week. --Star Weaver 16:43, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

What do you like to eat?
Hey Regina. I know that you just moved to Seattle only a little while ago, but I was wondering if you've come across any restaurants or eateries (high-end or casual) that you've taken an affinity for. My partner and I will be attending PAX this year, and it'll be our first time to Seattle, so we were wondering if you could give us any ideas on where to eat or what's good. If you have any ideas, could you list them here? Thanks! :D Kokuou 03:12, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Same for me (Kinda). I will also be attending PAX and be in Seattle for the first time, and would also like to knwo the same thing =D. --Wolf
- i live around seattle there are a lot of good places to eat right around the conviction center. and down by the water. Anthonys by the water is good, how far would you be willing to go?75.172.47.75 04:02, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- There was a pub/restaurant near the water that I came across once when I was doing the tourist thing in Seattle one weekend, but I can't for the life of me remember its name. I don't actually live in Seattle, so I'm not familiar with eating out in the city. Having said that, there are a variety of food options in the area of the convention center, so I don't think you will have too much difficulty finding something to your taste and within your budget. There's a mall called Westfield within easy walking distance of the convention center, so that could be a good place to start. --Regina Buenaobra 17:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

These indents confuse me. I've never been rick rolled once, and I know what rick roll is. See, I'm not dumb enough to click the links. I'm not 86, I'm 82. Don't aim this at me. 82.34.128.95 14:19, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
- You're right, the indents are confusing. Poki was talking to 86, but you assumed he was talking to you. Mango was talking to you because the similarities in your IPs probably confused him into thinking that you at 86 were the same person. I was talking to everyone, in an attempt to imply that 86 wasn't necessarily some idiot who took the video seriously and that he was, in fact, deliberately rickrolling us. --Mme. I think to people who don't know any Filipino's irl, you can probably be mistaken for the other Asian groups easily, but most of it is distinctly Filipino. I'm glad I was right. :) I didn't think much of it since I've only glanced at that picture before, but after hanging out with some Filipino buddies and watching Arnel Pineda (new lead singer of Journey, he ownsss. They found him on YouTube, that's crazy.), it sorta hit me and I had to make sure. :D (now if you told me you knew Arnel Pineda somehow I'd totally be jealous.) DarkNecrid 17:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

- All right, there are a couple of issues I'd like to raise. I should have raised this earlier, but I suppose it's better late than not at all.
- Please refrain from discussing my appearance/attractiveness. It's offensive to me. I do not exist for your visual pleasure, objectification, and exotification. It makes me uncomfortable when people talk about me as if I'm not even "in the room" so to speak, and ogle me like what some of you have done here (Vael Victus, Mage Montu, Wolf, DarkNecrid). It's creepy, gross, and weird. I'd like to remind you that yes, I am a real person -- not an object, not just a picture you see floating around on the internet.
- Secondly, it's not nice to make fun of the other person in the picture. Admittedly, I am guilty of that as well, but I was wrong to do it. Everyone has pictures of themselves that they don't like, and I certainly wouldn't like being made fun of, so I'm sure this person wouldn't like it either. --Regina Buenaobra 18:05, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- I a very Sorry, I did not intend to offend anyone, but I have not said anything that I would not normaly say if the people concerned in the conversation were in the room. I am very aware that anything I say here on the wiki can and is read by everyone, and as a result, If i have something to say that I don't want a particular person to here or think shouldn;t read what I have to say (even if the chances are good the person will not) I don't say it. I did not intend to insult or put-down anyone with my comments or words, and once again, I'm sorry if I did. In my eyes, and in everyone else's, those other two in the picture (and others) may believe they have made a fool of themselves, but I do nto think less of them in any way and for any reason.
- @Regina, I'm not going to attempt to speak for anyone else or for what anyone else has said except for my own actions and words in this particular event. Yes, I am fully aware that you are a real person and not just a picture, or some object. I'm trying to phrase this delicately and correctly so I avoid making an even bigger fool and idiot out of myself but, I thought you would find it flattering to know that someone thinks you are an attractive and good looking individual, but that seems to not be the case, and again, I apologize for my words, and will refrain from making such comments in the future. --Wolf 18:54, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you, Wolf. I know you didn't mean to offend. I just would like people to be a little more conscious of what they do. It puts me in an odd position to have strangers comment about my attractiveness. Most people wouldn't explicitly call out how attractive a male public figure is. Have you caught yourself saying how attractive our other CMs, Martin, Julien, and Peter are -- without a trace of irony or jest? Would you genuinely compliment them on how attractive they are, because you think they would appreciate it? I doubt it. Yet when it's a woman, she's fair game. It's a terrible double standard, and it's something I would rather not be subjected to. --Regina Buenaobra 23:08, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, comming from me, I'm sure it would seem incredibly awkward, and could quite certainly be misconstrued. Now, if I were not a guy, then yes, I'm pretty sure I would given the oppurtunity. --Wolf 00:55, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

"Godspeed"
Regina, I'd like to bring to your attention a concern I have with the depiction of human worship of gods in Guild Wars. In particular, I bought Prophecies 2 years ago, and then Factions. A few months back I bought Nightfall for my nephew, since he enjoyed playing on my guild wars account -- especially in pre-searing Ascalon. Anyway... what caught my by surprise was the skill Godspeed, in particular, where the player was actively encouraged to call upon God's help to assist his team. My nephew was curious if the God depicted was real and if it was right to worship a God and ask for blessings. In the user talk, Michael had suggested that a simple rename would help, I'd also prefer a change of God from the Christian God to an in-game God created by ANET, such as Melandru. I had made a support request for this item a while back, but I did not get a response. I am rather serious about making this as stinky as I can if the issue is not resolved. Religion is a big social these days and it is completely out of line for a game developer to be selling religion to children. — Skakid 18:03, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Godspeed is a phrase and expression (also a very good Anberlin song =D ). When used in correct context, it is used to basicaly wish someone the speed of a god (not nessicarily God) or to wish someone great haste. I seriously doubt it is an attempt to sell religion to people, b/c if this was the case, I highly doubt GW would contain multiple god's of Anet's own creation. I, myself, am a Christian, and find nothing wrong with the term Godspeed or it's use in a game. It honestly, It surprises me a little that you have issues with this skill in general, it being a rather common saying. --Wolf 18:23, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

- I was talking about Skakid, who's complaint is an obvious parody of another player's complaint a couple weeks ago about the depiction of torture in Guild Wars. But yes, "Godspeed" is a common saying used to wish someone good fortune and a safe journey. --Regina Buenaobra 19:32, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Now you sparked my curiosity a little. What did he/she claim was a depiction of torture? --Wolf 19:38, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- Let's not resurrect the topic. It turned into a heated discussion, at which point I decided to deal with it privately, with the individual who complained, so it didn't escalate further. It's archived here. --Regina Buenaobra 19:42, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
- As someone not Christian I always find undertones of religion in stuff, but in this case I don't think its a direct reference to installing Christianity's 'God' into the game, more using a tradiation saying which may have its origins within a religion [debatable if it started there though]. I believe the term, when referring Christianity, started off in Genesis but then again my knowledge of the Old Testament is a bit cloudy, haven't debated religion with any Christians worth debating with in a while now :P
- Godspeed is referred when wishing someone a swift and safe journey and it wouldn't be surprising if the origins actually came earlier than Christianity, as most religions are just copy and pastes and add-ons of the old ones, so one never really knows. One could say they evolve, as it were.
- As someone not Christian I don't have any problem with the use of the term in-game, just as Christians seem to be ok with enjoying storylines that have tones of worshipping [shown as] hornied 'gods' such as Balthazar and Grenth, and also a religious system that is polytheistic [the belief in multiple Gods] instead of monotheistic [one god] and many other things a more uptight Christian could get upset or complain over.
- I don't think Arenanet is trying to sell religion to children, if they were they really suck at it. 000.00.00.00 19:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

- I suggest the skill be named Balthazarspeed immediately to reflect my religion. Vael Victus 22:15, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

the torture guy was serious, Skakid is just being...Skakid...you know, after Grinsh and Raptors corrupted him. I still think the toture guys idea was like something out of a GW PTA meeting...yeah...that bad...and thats all i have to say on the matter--Raph Talky 01:21, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- I know the whole torture deal was serious, but if I had been around for it, I would have been able to put two and two together and come up with 4 and done something other than think he was serious. --Wolf 02:10, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- (In response to Regina) I suppose you're right, maybe I've taken this a bit too far. Thanks for your hasty reply. — Skakid 02:26, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- While not directly related to the topic at hand, I do believe the torture guy had a point to make. I will not comment on whether the torture thing was wrong or right, however, the crux of the issue is that, moral controversies should be carefully considered before implementing them. I went and took a look-see at the archived topic, and found that many who replied weren't very constructive and were basically being sarcastic and caustic to someone who had a point to make and give. In this sense, this part of the discussion was in bad taste, and I am very thankful for the apology of the perpetrator. Edit:Oops I forgot to sign my comment.152.226.7.211 04:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

- As much as Skakid was trolling he does have a point, albeit unknown to him. Godspeed is a shout and does not use inverted commas or an exclaimation mark. As most any other shout has these and "godspeed" is in reference to a phrase, it definitely should. Any discussion on selling religion is silly though. The phrase was first used in ancient Greece and Rome and, since those gods don't have much of an influence anymore, any religious temptation is merely interpretational. Unless ANet worships Mercury. (Regina I'm totally on the torture man's side. That's pretty awful.) Spawnlegacy 05:47, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
